Please keep in mind that the impressions posted here are often subjective and that, among other things, people's different circumstances play a large role in their perception of other people's lives. Also, please use words that do not promote hatred when posting. For example, statements such as "[city] is like this because people from [origin] live there" should be avoided. The social circumstances of a city/district etc. can be emphasized without mentioning the origin of the inhabitants. Mentioning it does not change anything and, as already mentioned, circumstances are often perceived subjectively according to one's own world view. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. I left a pretty detailed answer for things to do in town in the Nevada sub if you have anything more specific you would like to know about feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer or point you in the right direction. I have lived here for 30+ years and raised my family here and still love the town even if I am fully aware it has its faults. Best of luck to you.

Wish I'd stayed longer than a 30-minute smoke break on the bus. All I saw was dust, but I like to think everywhere has some cool 'spot'.

canitasteyourbox

they have great Basque food

fatguyfromqueens

Am curious what the food would be like since Basque cuisine is a lot of sea food. Definitely harder in Nevada to do that. But they still got lamb to work with.

canitasteyourbox

no dude all kinda beef pork lamb which i dont care for but ate some once at a Basque restaurant and was very good last time i ate some deep fried spare ribs they cut them in like 1 inch long pieces and deep fried them they were off the charts. They feed you plenty too great soup salad pasta french fries ive never had a bad meal

duke_awapuhi

They over feed you. It’s awesome. I love the basque food in northern Nevada. You leave in food coma and the waitresses are always hot

I recall a trip through this corridor a while back, and remember a neat Nevada convenience. If you forget what town you're in, look on a nearby hill for the first initial of the town. Yep, Battle Mountain, gets two letters. Can't speak to Winnie, other than the bus stop was nice.

Small and relatively remote, so you have to be okay with that. Historic Basque ethnicity is fairly large there, there are good outdoor opportunities for people willing to put in effort. Rye Patch reservoir is not far, and usually has good fishing opportunity. Food options are limited, but I've enjoyed the places I've tried there. The brothel closed a decade or so ago, if that's a deciding factor to visit. Anarchic weather, in one day I experienced sun, rain, snow, hail, wind, and both definitions of sleet (rain/snow and Dippin' dots). Overall, it's got more to offer than Battle Mountain or Lovelock, but not as big as Elko.

Do you get the Mormon crickets?
