He's so quotable! He's my favorite side character as well.
"*And I read read about these women trying to have it all, and I thank God, our little Harmonica doesn't seem to have that problem.*"
I named my son Jack, because itās a longstanding family name, but hadnāt been used since my dads cousins were born. (Good reasons, right? I actually named him for Jack Gellar but everyone would jump my throat over that admission!)
In the average conversation, side and background characters are the same. Hell I'd even say that "background" is below "side" because the former implies silence.
He was married to Jessica Walter (Lucille bluth from arrested development, the matriarch in Archer).
They both played a type, idk about real life, but when he died she passed 15mo later.
They seemed sweet on each other.
She's asleep under the guests' coats...she exhausts easily under the pressure to be interesting š¤£š¤£š¤£ I know this is a friends post, but Maris is THE best unseen character, ever!
I love alllll the descriptions they came up with for Maris. They were so clever.
āIt's hard to believe that's the same frail woman who once sprained her wrist from having too mich dip on a cracker.ā
Cuz lets be honest she is a great partner
Like she really did love Chandler
And she makes herself look like a fool in public just so she can talk to her husband, Sid, who is almost deaf
Not to mention she actually decided not to move into the house she loved cause she thought it would be more painful for Chandler cause she thought Chandler was still in love with her
Not to mention she shows alot of care for others
Not to mention the only time she actually did something bad
Was when she had that affair
But ever since that, she never did anything like that ever again
Showing she is a
Loving, kind, caring, and loyal partner
And a good friend
Ngl Chandler complains how bad Janice was
But i think
Chandler is the one who wasnt enough for Janice
Emily had her moments, but she was outshone by her parents in the space of about 3 episodes.
"You spend your whole life in the bathroom, why do never go out the bloody window"
"Oh yes... there you are..."
"I could kill you with my thumb you know"
I love her first interaction with Rachel.
Oh Iāve must have missed your call even though I didnāt leave the flat all day.
Iāve been strip searched at John F Kennedy airport.
Apparently, to you people, I look like someone whoās got a balloon full of cocaine stuffed up their bum.
I almost got ran over by one of your wiener carts.
I also looove her parents.
You spend half your life in the bathroom, why donāt you ever go out the bloody window.
Am I on the radio?
Stephen! Say something!
Oh yes, there you are.
Iām still confused why people donāt like her after the wedding, she was the one that was treated terribly by Ross and Rachel. Itās no wonder she spiralled.
Steve (Jon Lovitz). That episode always cracks me up, definitely in my top 5.
Outta Ross's girlfriends I liked Julie. They were pretty much perfect for each other except...she wasn't Rachem š
Rachel's dad. Any episode where she's interacting with him is always one of my favorites. Especially the line "What if someone steals something? How are you going to run after them with one leg shorter than the other?"
I feel the same way. She and Ross had chemistry. She, also, brought out the best in Ross before he said the wrong name at the wedding. He started to come out of his shell, and heal from Carol.
Exactly, and her anger and jealousy wasnāt even unreasonable considering Ross said his ex girlfriendās name at the wedding, in front of that very ex that had just turned up specially to stop the wedding, and THEN they were both going off on *her* honeymoon together before she could get there.
Trying to save the marriage after and stop Ross hanging out with Rachel was futile and made her look bad but anyone would be desperately trying to give it a go at first and try to come up with boundaries to save their marriage after being wronged.

How has she not been named yet? š±š¤š¤¦š¼āāļøš¤·š¼āāļøš¤£
I disagree. I thought her accent was one of the more natural I've heard. English accents are always going to sound stronger next to a cast of Americans. I thought her accent was just a well-spoken one. Can't blame her for the fact that the rest of the country has butchered the Queen's (I suppose it's King now) English! ššš¤·š¼āāļøš¤£
Richard. Or Mike. Maybe even David. Agh, this is really hard! But Iām amazed how far I had to scroll to see Janice. Oh hang onā¦thereās Eddie too! But I think Iām sticking with Richard as my final answer.
Do we actually think Emily lacked chemistry with Ross? I think they were cute together, like when they were so happy to be in Vermont together to see āthe deer outside eating fruit from the orchardā
Obviously Emily became a āvillainā when Ross effed up royally at the wedding, but I donāt blame her for not being too trusting of him with Rachel
I liked emily too! No idea why people hate her so much. Her reaction to Ross saying rachelās name at their wedding was absolutely justified! Asking Ross to cut Rachel off was also justified. She deserved better
I really liked Emily. But Elliot Gould as Jack Gellar killed me. I'm not kidding. But Paulo was the phoniest bastard I ever met. Worse than Fisher Stevens playing old Phoebe's boyfriend.
Emily was not the bad guy. Your fiance says another girls name at your wedding. Then he's about to board a plane to your honeymoon destination with said girl. Emily was completely justified. The Emily hate is stupid
The reason I like Emily is because she was different from any other character on the show her being from a foreign country the accent and her somewhat goth/grunge style made her so unique to me
Have seen alot of ppl hating Emily but I think that they shouldn't have got back together at all after the wedding.
Clearly it's Ross's fault to have said the wrong name but how they reunited is just a mistake.
Emily being so unreasonable to Ross actually makes sense since the trust is gone and the issue will forever be sn elephant in the room.
You Americans need to watch the BBC series called Cold Feet. Helen Baxendale was one of the lead characters in this brilliant show. Ps her character was called Rachael !
As much as a man like him would not be likable in real life, I always enjoyed appearances by Rachel's dad (Leonard Greene)
Then, the obvious choices: Gunther and Janice
For me, it would always be Jack Gellar! What a delightful character š
āThe papers thought it was a hate crime. āŗļøā
My favorite Jack Geller line. š
Jack Gellar, dream hunk
Jack Gellar- buried at sea. Huh!
Jack Geller, walks in on you while youāre changing

Heās hilarious in basically every scene heās in, through all 10 seasons
You can't ask us son, that would be cheating
One of my absolute favorite lines of the show.
"She may have died" "She MAY had died?" "we're looking into it"
NOW sheās gone
"Burried at sea. Huh."
āI didnāt have a chance to show that Iām okay with it!ā
"Why don't I remember this dog?"
Jack Gellar, walks in while youāre changing
āOh what I would give to be that can ofā¦ condensed milkā
He's so quotable! He's my favorite side character as well. "*And I read read about these women trying to have it all, and I thank God, our little Harmonica doesn't seem to have that problem.*"
But there was leaves and gunk and stuff.
I named my son Jack, because itās a longstanding family name, but hadnāt been used since my dads cousins were born. (Good reasons, right? I actually named him for Jack Gellar but everyone would jump my throat over that admission!)
100%
"Boy, bad time to say the wrong name, huh Ross?'
agreed :) and emily is my least favorite character
![gif](giphy|SwJ9RsUKj3dCF1bt6d|downsized)
So, what is this, some kind of snake or something?
I wouldn't call him a side character, he is in almost every episode, even though as a background character.
The consistency doesn't really denote what is a side character tho
He is my favorite background character
In the average conversation, side and background characters are the same. Hell I'd even say that "background" is below "side" because the former implies silence.
true, but in my heart gunther is a main character hhaha
in that case i nominate the cat š
![gif](giphy|J0DLxy3NvFff3bpbBb|downsized) he was so chaotic and funny ,lol , I love jack geller too
Who's the father? Don't tell me it's her!
For the record, Iād be a fantastic son in law.
āIām a vegetarianā āItās CHICKENā āYa I donāt eat thatā āI never understood you lesbiansā
I love how he aggressively blinked at that waiter in that scene. I appreciate him more now than I used to
"Stupid guy on my phone!"
him and jack are some of the funniest characters on the show!
Itās be funny if the actor in real life were the sweetest person, cuz he plays the jerk so well!
You often find that this is the case. Danny Devito has made a career out of playing scumbags and he's an absolute gem.
Speaking of Danny Devito.... the crying stripper was a good one-off
He was married to Jessica Walter (Lucille bluth from arrested development, the matriarch in Archer). They both played a type, idk about real life, but when he died she passed 15mo later. They seemed sweet on each other.
Am a huge fan of unseen characters so the naked guy. Like Maris from Frasier or Stan from Will and Grace haha
She's asleep under the guests' coats...she exhausts easily under the pressure to be interesting š¤£š¤£š¤£ I know this is a friends post, but Maris is THE best unseen character, ever!
Haha yes yes!
I love alllll the descriptions they came up with for Maris. They were so clever. āIt's hard to believe that's the same frail woman who once sprained her wrist from having too mich dip on a cracker.ā
![gif](giphy|WT8pzD8MgX2cPgzejY|downsized)
Yup. This is the one. I love Janice.
Oh I LOVE me some Janice. She feels like a safe place for me lol I don't know why.
Cuz lets be honest she is a great partner Like she really did love Chandler And she makes herself look like a fool in public just so she can talk to her husband, Sid, who is almost deaf Not to mention she actually decided not to move into the house she loved cause she thought it would be more painful for Chandler cause she thought Chandler was still in love with her Not to mention she shows alot of care for others Not to mention the only time she actually did something bad Was when she had that affair But ever since that, she never did anything like that ever again Showing she is a Loving, kind, caring, and loyal partner And a good friend Ngl Chandler complains how bad Janice was But i think Chandler is the one who wasnt enough for Janice
Totally Janice was a catch. She had heart.
15 Yemen Road, Yemen. *I can hear it.*
As annoying as her voice was, I gotta admit you're right, here.
Much better person than Emily and actually less annoying, which is saying something
JAYAAHniiiiisss JAYAAHniiiiisss JAYAAHniiiiisss. You call out to me!
The true good answer
I love Janice! Yeah, she was loud but she was sweet and the gang really didn't do her justice.
Itās gotta be Crap Bag ![gif](giphy|RNL4wVr1UhZycLFhjJ|downsized)
Mike Crapbag?
No. Just crap bag. If you need help remembering it. Just think of a bag of crap.
Don't you #POINT your #PANTS at me!
Emily had her moments, but she was outshone by her parents in the space of about 3 episodes. "You spend your whole life in the bathroom, why do never go out the bloody window" "Oh yes... there you are..." "I could kill you with my thumb you know"

"Yes, Joey, you can have all the chocolate you want, just take it." " We can't go now, it looks like Rachel's going to put on a skit."

It's the italian handlicker isn't it?
No, itās the one whose hands heās licking.
I kinda loved Judy * 'PICK UP THE SOCK JUDY PICK UP THE SOCKK!'

Chandlers's a girl! Chandler's a girl!
I really wish we got to see the Greens all interact as a family unit the way we saw how the Gellerās dynamic affected everyone.

I always hear this is Joey's voice when he's making fun of him.
Correct answer. My fishhhh my _Buddy_
Wish he'd stuck around in some way. Moved in with Heckles or something, that would have been fun.
Heckles was dead by then
He moved to Minnesota and became a hitman for the mob.
Is anyone else really starting to like him? š¤£
One night you catch me? What about all the other nights? What about last night when you got up to get a drink of water and I hid behind the door??
This is going in the display!
Also happy freaking cake day š
Thanks.
I liked her until the wedding. My favourites are always Jack Geller and David.
Iām still confused why people donāt like her after the wedding, she was the one that was treated terribly by Ross and Rachel. Itās no wonder she spiralled.

I love that guy, he was great with mon
Like even though I know, objectively, that this relationship was super gross, I still canāt help liking him š«
*UP YOURS TOO!*

Donāt you just love the way they talk ( funny noises that are too hard to type)
Ben stiller who played as Rachel's boyfriend.

I guess that means we're broken up... *MAN!!!*

Oooh mac and cheese, we gotta make this!
Tartlet tartlet tartlet, the word has lost all meaning.
The chick and duck
Rachel's dad. Any episode where she's interacting with him is always one of my favorites. Especially the line "What if someone steals something? How are you going to run after them with one leg shorter than the other?"
this is the hottest take iāve ever seen
Phoebeās brother
Yes! Giovanni Ribisi was amazing in that role
Whoa. Great octopus.
Yeah, you can burn art
You know how I like to melt things, and I donāt like things that donāt melt?
![gif](giphy|dzIjBXapl7Untu2fAb|downsized) Justice for David! That dude waited faithfully for 8 years only to get slammed by the entire Friends group.
I actually thought she and Ross had a lot of chemistry until they decided to turn sweet Emily into a jealous bitch. They did her dirty.
I feel the same way. She and Ross had chemistry. She, also, brought out the best in Ross before he said the wrong name at the wedding. He started to come out of his shell, and heal from Carol.

Either Mike or Janice, they added a lot to the show. From the more minor ones, probably Amy or Dr. Green. They were awful, but hysterical.
![gif](giphy|lqwH8e9j9XYMSyxecH|downsized) I always wanted more of terry. This description of phoebeās playing cracks me up

They weren't completely off but compared to Rachel, Emily and Ross chemistry was like watching paint dry
I loved her. I know the writings turned her into a bitch in the end but I really loved her presence in the earlier episodes.
That front part in a different place from the part in the rest of the hair... Popular hairstyle for 1 year in the 1990s.

It was after Emily that I started disliking Ross.
Russ
For me, Emily and Ross at the beginning, had great chemistry, i dunno why people said the contrary
ā¦take thee, E M I L Y
I wouldn't even think of putting her as a favorite for a side character, she was just in too few scenes, compared to all the parents or Gunther.
For me she will ever be Adamās Rachel in Cold Feet.
her accent bothers me like nothing else and iām english š
