Fair argument and since you are serious, let me ask you a question about what we should be funding:
When roads, housing, education, healthcare, drinking water, irrigation, sewerage, and police **are all State subjects** ... What exactly should we be funding at a Union Government level?
All of our income tax, all the corporate tax, half the GST, all the Union Excise duties, and all the customs duties go to the Union Government. Why?
The Union Government list of responsibilities are primarily: Defence, Foreign Affairs, RBI, Railways, and India Post. Of these, Defence and Railways are the only large areas of expenditure.
I'm happy that my taxes (direct and indirect) are going towards our Armed Forces and Railways. Unfortunately (as of 2023-24), Defence gets less than 6 Lakh Crores and Railways less than 2.5 Lakh Crores.
Even if you add highways (which are National as well as State), that's **less that 11 Lakh Crores out of 45 Lakh Crores!**
**75% of our taxes** are being spent **right now** by the Union Government, on things we never signed up for!
Of course we should be concerned about how our tax money is being spent, but look at the context: **34 Lakh Crores** is already being spent on things we shouldn't be spending on. The BJP manifesto and the Congress manifesto promises are a drop in that ocean.
"When roads, housing, education, healthcare, drinking water, irrigation, sewerage, and police **are all State subjects** ... What exactly should we be funding at a Union Government level?"
>Well we do have national highways/expressways (funded completely or partially by Centre), AIIMS(and other centrally funded hospitals 22 of them we need more), IITs,NITs,IIITs(we need more of them), current gov invested heavily in drinking water facilities with jal jivan (not enough we need more out of it)
"All of our income tax, all the corporate tax, half the GST, all the Union Excise duties, and all the customs duties go to the Union Government. Why?"
>Go to union government and then redistributed(GST) to the states based on population.
"**75% of our taxes** are being spent **right now** by the Union Government, on things we never signed up for!"
>please speak for yourself, I would want top notch and free healthcare, transport, education, overall better quality of life instead of funding "freebies", by that I mean the promise of direct bank transfers for the "unemployed", make them employable I'm happy to fund that but don't incentivise unemployment.
> Well we do have national highways/expressways (funded completely or partially by Centre)
I've already included this in the above 25% calculation.
>> Even if you add highways (which are National as well as State), that's **less that 11 Lakh Crores out of 45 Lakh Crores!**
> AIIMS(and other centrally funded hospitals 22 of them we need more), IITs,NITs,IIITs(we need more of them),
This is not something the Union Government has any special abilities to develop. Remember IIIT-H and ISB were built by the state government in Public-Private partnerships.
We needed Union and international assistance in higher education, back in the 50's but even since 1975, Warangal REC (NIT) has been managed by state educational institutions.
Higher Education is and should be a state subject. The funds should simply be transferred to the state, so the state can better manage the resources.
In recent times, we have **one** greenfield Union Government sponsored college, AIIMS Bibinagar, and that is barely at AIIMS standard.
The Union Government already has a job. They have a responsibility to stimulate job-creating growth. They have responsibility to incentivise R&D in crucial sectors. They need to do this through policy interventions. Building IITs so we can have even more [unemployed IITians](https://m.economictimes.com/jobs/fresher/iit-students-grapple-with-harsh-realities-of-2024-job-market-from-pay-package-woes-to-placement-challenges/articleshow/109107521.cms) is really not ideal.
I wish they'd do their actual job well, instead of using limited resources to do the states' jobs poorly.
> current gov invested heavily in drinking water facilities with jal jivan (not enough we need more out of it)
Water is a State Subject and it should be. We've had Mission Bhagiratha in the state to do that and it functioned more effectively since 2016. In fact [here's the PMO acknowledging it](https://www.pmindia.gov.in/hi/news_updates/%e0%a4%aa%e0%a5%8d%e0%a4%b0%e0%a4%a7%e0%a4%be%e0%a4%a8%e0%a4%ae%e0%a4%82%e0%a4%a4%e0%a5%8d%e0%a4%b0%e0%a5%80-%e0%a4%a8%e0%a5%87-%e0%a4%a4%e0%a5%87%e0%a4%b2%e0%a4%82%e0%a4%97%e0%a4%be%e0%a4%a8-4/), 3 years before the launch of Jal Jivan.
> please speak for yourself, I would want top notch and free healthcare, transport, education, overall better quality of life instead of funding "freebies", by that I mean the promise of direct bank transfers for the "unemployed", make them employable I'm happy to fund that but don't incentivise unemployment.
I've said this and I'm saying it again: healthcare, transport, and education are all State Subjects. The money isn't being given to the states to spend on these programs. States, like Kerala, have shown that you can have far better health outcomes with adequate funding at a local level.
Tell me, what top-notch healthcare, and education impact are you seeing in Hyderabad (or anywhere in Telangana) from the Union Government spending? Why should the people of Telangana want their money being spent by the Union Government?
In any case, healthcare, and education are not what the Union Budget spends most of its money on (**just 4% of our budget**).
The Union Government does DBT to students, women and farmers (Dhanalaxmi, Janani, etc), offers LPG subsidies, builds free houses and toilets... The Union Government is a bloated entity that should be offering assistance and support, but instead wants to do everything, inefficiently, by itself.
Apparently Warangal is a Smart City now. I go there very often and I was surprised by this designation. Our tax rupees at work, apparently. Entirely invisible work. Who asked the Union Government to interfere in urban development?
Like I said, we should be demanding accountability for how the State spends our money. We should, however, start with the bigger culprit: the Union Government which gobbles up most of our taxes anyway.
_ayyo, aithey thelavani vishalaya gurinchi enduku bhayapadutunnavu?_
I've been paying income tax for nearly 20 years. There are no drastic differences in the taxation policy between UPA and NDA Governments for people like me.
> Modi will definitely use it ..
Gautamdas doesn't need anyone to actually say anything. He seems entirely competent to make shit up.
The statement is _bakwaas_ in the context of his own actions.
Nobody called the language _bakwaas_ . No need to get our knickers into knots over imagined insults.
We all see trash and trash like people everywhere here, are we doing something about it? No. So can you say all people are okay with this? No. Some are fine some are not. Only countable people do something about it. That's how the country is. When people are okay to vote for rapists and murderers, why not be okay with a small ad?

I don't understand how is it so normal to openly defame another party? It's literally spreading hate.
Just like how it is so normal for our PM to openly spread hate against a religion 🤷🏽♀️
Yea how is that OK with people?
