Yay mine was also in june! I can’t even describe how amazing life is now. I’m just free! No periods, no birth control, no pregnancy scares, NOTHING! I love just living life rather than worrying about all those things or trying and failing to plan around my periods. I’m so glad your recovery went so well and that you’re also loving life post op!

Thank you for posting your experience about the hot flashes and the smelly armpits haha, 2 things I am experiencing 6 wpo (TAH in September) that I was wondering is this normal?? Hot flashes are starting to dissipate, and I guess for the first time in a long time my sweat gland functioning is no longer impinged upon by my fibroids or endo/ adeno, and is working as it should haha!

This is very encouraging, thank you for sharing. It’s so nice to hear that the surgery has benefitted you! Although it must have been tough to undergo two surgeries one after the other. I will have my hysterectomy in about a month for fibroids (also keeping ovaries like you.) May I ask if you experienced any weight fluctuations post-op? One of my more vain concerns is weight gain…I put on a lot if pandemic pounds and I worked hard to finally get them off recently and a little worried I might gain them back again. Trying to adjust my meal portions to smaller sizes now so I don’t overeat while I’m sedentary 😓Thank you again for sharing your experience and wishing you well too!

I actually lost weight post op but that could be from stopping birth control. But before surgery I would work out fairly often and I wouldn’t eat great but I would make an attempt to not eat the WORST. I had lost some weight months before surgery but had kind of gotten lazy about exercising and hit a plateau the month before surgery. Post op I obviously couldn’t work out anymore, but on top of that I ate like shit. It was ALL fast food and SO MANY cookies. Like the big thick kind from places like Crumbl. But at my first checkup I still was like 5lbs lighter. I got back into exercising sporadically around weeks 11-13 but stopped again because of getting ready for a move. So really not much exercising after recovery either. But I’ve STILL lost more weight, it’s so weird. I haven’t been this light since I was a freshman or maybe sophomore in high school. I never even set up my treadmill at the new place and I’m now 4 months post op. It’s only been around 10lbs total but that’s a lot of weight for me to lose by being unhealthy haha. And I haven’t been under 120 in so long, I figured my standard adult weight was just supposed to be above that but I guess not lol

Oh wow, 10lbs is pretty significant. Everyone seems to have different outcomes weight-wise post-op and for you I guess the procedure somehow led to weight loss! Thanks so much for the detailed response, very interesting and helpful to hear your and others’ experiences in this sub!

Oh gosh, I’m glad you were able to have back surgery! Hope the healing for that is going just as well as the healing for the hysterectomy sounds like it’s going <3 The underarm scent post-hysterectomy now that birth control isn’t a thing anymore is so relatable! About every 6 weeks I have all my underam hair zapped away via electrolysis and once we get through all the growth cycles it’ll be gone forever. But whenever it’s been 5 or so weeks since the last session and so there’s a more than minuscule amount of undearm expression, I’m like . . . Omg, why do I absoloutely \*reek\* what is \*happening\*?? Hahaha. I can’t imagine how stinky it’d be if I hadn’t started getting that hair removed just 5 weeks after my hysterectomy and I had the “full” amount”of underarm hair there |D!!

Congrats to you!! I just saw the gyno yesterday, and she readily agreed to a hysterectomy. No more horrendous fricken periods with ruined clothes and just all that misery I've endured for years because of painful, heavy periods. It's fun to read posts like yours, knowing that in six to eight weeks it's going to be my turn to post about my freedom!

Melodic-Switch-6535

Yeah! You go! Alcohol wipes or hand sanitizer for the pits!

TarheelCK

Girl, my pits start to stink before I even get out of the shower. Never had that problem before the hysterectomy. Oh well, it’s worth it.

WayTooManyOpinions

Lol! Same. And agree it's worth it!!!

Reporting back in: the underarm odor is gone, thankfully! Glad it was just a temporary thing.

WayTooManyOpinions

And it's now back. Seems to come and go...

MortisArtist

Omg I also smell so stinky now lol I actually think I just smell... different in general? It's weird haha

You bring up a valid point because I had a pinched nerve in my shoulder when I got mine. I let them know and they said they’re glad I did. They will take extreme care about the position of my shoulder. I almost didn’t mention it.
