I got a 13” M4 and absolutely love it. The display is so much better than every other display I own, and the refresh rate is beautiful. Something no one mentions is just how easily portable BOTH sizes are. The 13 is super thin and only slightly heavier, and offers a much larger screen size. The 11 is a total portable beast too, pretty thin and light. Love these new iPads coming from an older base iPad model

manv815

OtterBox? Oh well, there goes your thinness!

Nikhil7286

Apple care and using it naked if not in the MK. What’s the point of throwing a giant thick case on it

Arkaium

I’ll probably buy a folio when I find one on sale to make art easier, I used to pop my Air 4 between MK and folio and it’s nice versatility and so easy with the magnets.

Snoo-32401

Same here. AppleCare for all my devices and use without protection. worry-free.

Robotics_Moose

Then don’t use an OtterBox? I just use MK and got a cheap folio off Amazon for note taking.

LGthe8god

Just curious, how do you primarily use your 13 inch iPad Pro? In a keyboard case as a laptop alternative, or hand held? I’ve been thinking about getting the 13 inch for the display size, but unsure of how comfortable it will be using it as a hand held tablet…

Robotics_Moose

I use it as a laptop but also will take it out to play mobile games and also some content

captainsmudgeface

I love mine as well. I went ahead and got the foolio case and the Magic Keyboard case. I use the iPad at work a lot so when at my desk it is on the magic keyboard charging and when meetings come up I am able to quickly detach from that and drop it on the folio to take notes on like a notebook (Goodnotes 6). Really convenient for me.

glenn1812

Check out the ESR magnetic adjustable case. I got that one its brilliant feel like that would've been a better fit for your use specailly if you use an external keyboard. Helps you keep a better posture.

bramfoto

Same... It's light, powerful, with the best screen.. Enjoyable to work, edit photos... Hate to say it.. It was worth $999...😩😲

drowsy1234

Yeah, I bought the 13 inch because I wanted more real estate, but I was impressed about how thin it was as well. I chose the OtterBox defender case, but I go for all out protection. It also comes with a built-in screen protector.

Timeassassin3

I second with you OP. Got the 11” M4 Silver with black smartfolio. It’s too good.

C42if0rniaGrown

Same with the 11 inch. It’s amazing how much more powerful and capable it is than a iMac from a couple years ago. “A slab of glass”

valera5505

Powerful? Sure. Capable? Doubt. Software is usually crippled compared to desktop versions and some classes of tasks are entirely out of question.

I have the exact same set up as you without the pencil and am loving it. I remember the employee at the Apple store seemed surprised I was upgrading from my 2018 iPad and said the weight/thinness wasn’t that big of a change but I’d already looked at them in store some weeks before and I could definitely tell a difference. My only qualm is that anytime I’m playing audio on it since it’s thinner I can feel the vibrations in the device compared to my 2018 model but it’s no biggie.

TyphaniesEpiphanies

I don’t know why people are sleeping on the thinness and lightness features. I’m disabled. I have rheumatoid arthritis and the 12.9 that I had for the month made me lose my fine motor skills. It was so heavy. And I was just getting it in and out of my bag. I know many people don’t feel the strain on their wrists, but just because you don’t feel it doesn’t mean it’s not there and not hurting or straining peoples wrist. I can’t believe the Apple Store employee was that shocked. It’s seemingly a huge selling point at least with all of the videos and rumors. The whole thing is a sheet of paper which was ridiculous, but it does feel that light at times

Marshall__Arts

I have exactly the same model. Came from 2018 11 inch iPad Pro and it’s a great upgrade, although not as much as I would have expected after 6 years but hoping this will serve me well for at least 6 years. Connecting to and working from a separate screen is better than I thought and the angles on folio case are useful.

StructureOdd3206

Yeah I’m in the same boat, that first gen iPad Pro is such a beast. The new oled screen is the only massive upgrade I’ve noticed in terms of day to day use. Still very pleased with m4 but Apple did stellar job in 2018.

RidgelineOperations

Same boat, just upgraded from my 2018 and wish there was more something.

Recently upgraded to the 11" from a six year old 2018 Pro. What a leap this is. I debated with myself for a while thinking the M4 is more than I needed for my use case, but the OLED won me over, especially since photography and videography is a casual hobby of mine and I do all my viewing and editing on my iPad. My HDR shots look SO much nicer on that OLED display, and editing is way faster with this processor, which can really make a difference when I'm reviewing and editing hundreds of vacation shots. Highlights in my images really pop when I view them with brightness at max, and even at max there is absolutely no degradation of the blacks or contrast. It's a beast.

stardripIVs

100% agree. Between the M4 and OLED, it’s the fastest device I’ve ever used. Very responsive and the display is stunning. Just an all around great experience. Only thing I’m disappointed in is that the speakers are noticeably worse from past iPads I’ve had. I always feel the need to use headphones with this model. Also, regarding you saying you know the iPad is overkill for your needs, there’s nothing wrong with buying a model with nicer features if you can afford it. I don’t know why everyone has this mentality with iPads that you’re wasting your money if you don’t buy the absolute cheapest model for your needs. I’ve always bought the top of the line iPad models because I always want the most advanced iPad with the best experience.

PSX9300

Loving mine, too! Went from a 2018 11” iPad Pro and am very satisfied.

Livid-Ambassador5291

I started with the 13 inch 256gb M4. The iPad is my only device and the 13 inch was impossible for me to use comfortably in handheld position. No matter what, I had to hold it with two hands, or always set it down on something. I ended up returning the 13 inch and getting the 11 inch 1tb version and am very happy. I purchased a decent external monitor and barely use the Magic Keyboard case. I either use it as a desktop, or a tablet. I know I’ll use the Magic Keyboard for flights so I’ll keep it for now. Also, a lot of people say “no, you can’t replace your laptop with an iPad” in my honest opinion, most of the people that say that are people who’ve never REALLY tried. The 11” has replaced my laptop and desktop and is the perfect size for tablet use. Things i do with my iPad M4 11-inch Stream to Twitch with webcam, focusrite audio box and Lewitt Mic (Thanks to my dock) Video edit using Final Cut Pro (The Apple Pencil Pro is amazing for this) Record Full songs using Logic Pro & Xvox Work tasks Game (thing I do the most) Media Consumption (airplay is a great feature, I usually stream directly to my TV and use my iPad in tablet mode while watching) Personally, the 13 inch is great, but it will not feel like a tablet, you will likely want to keep it inside of a keyboard case and end up saying “what’s the point, I should’ve just got a laptop” The 13 inch iPad took away one of my favorite features from the iPad which was versatility. Just remember: You can always use an external monitor for a bigger display, you can never make the 13” smaller, you will be stuck with it I hope some of this information helps

awwhorseshit

Does anyone have a review on the upgraded display?

zuc0001

Does anyone have thoughts of the 11 inch M4 speakers? I currently have the 2018 11 inch model and heard the speakers aren't as good?

Mediocre-Ad9008

They aren’t out of this world good. Decent, better than competition for sure. Previous gen iPads were better sounding overall (prior to M2 especially), now they are a bit muffled, probable because of their thinness.
