You can use [Escape](https://escapeapp.cloud), it’s a mind mapping and outlining app focused on note taking and task tracking (I’m building it).
All mind mapping features are free. There is a subscription but it’s for advanced features, outliner, sorting, drawing with the Apple Pencil.
Looks nice. I’ll try it out. It’d be great if you had a non-subscription option though. I suppose the math works best for subscriptions but I just don’t like them at all.

I’m not. I paid for MindNode every major release until they went subscription. I’m perfectly happy to pay for software, I just don’t like subscription pricing.
I much prefer paid apps than free ones. Just not a subscription based ones.
Obsidian has this functionality as well if I’m not mistaken

Simple mind is an app I used to use. It has a free and a paid version. It's simple and effective.

I haven't tried it but can a seemingly has this feature. Assuming it's in the paid version? But not 100% sure

They weren't asking for something free. But something that wasn't just a subscription.

Yeah I get your point. I hate that good notes became a subscription as well.
