My understanding is you'll risk damaging your amp if you use 4.4mm adaptor with 3.5mm plugs, as 3.5mm isn't balanced. Not sure of the science behind it though, sorry. I invested in a 4.4mm cable (Tripowin Zonie) for £20 and haven't looked back. Running MP145 = great from BTR15 and Fiio K7.

Yeah i was lookig that or is tripowin amber which has the changable jack ok? Also do you know would it be ok to run it on the 6.35mm with adapter since if understand this picture below correctly its not balanced https://preview.redd.it/wqxfbbmxge8d1.jpeg?width=984&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e17dd6150f0612d729e32005f3de1dc9f350ef7a

The easiest options are to get a 3.5mm to 6.35mm adapter, or get a 4.4mm balanced cable. Maybe one that has interchangeable ends if you'd like the flexibility.

Fedora-_-

Thanks. Thats what i thought, found that the 6.35 to 3.5 adapter is only just couple euros so that will be the cheapest option and maybe get the cable at somepoint👍

Knale

Your K11 came with one, just use that and be safe.

Fedora-_-

I havent bought one yet since i was unsure about these things but will be ordering soon👍

Don't try to plug a 3.5mm plug into a 4.4mm socket. Adaptors do exist (I'm not sure why) but they will damage your amp by shorting out 2 of the pins. Just get a 3.5 to 6.35 adaptor or else replace the cable(s). You shouldn't *need* to get balanced cables, but many midrange amps with both balanced and unbalanced outputs will sound slightly better out of the balanced end. I have no idea about that one specifically. The differences are usually pretty small and might not even be audible.

Fedora-_-

Thank you, will start with the adaptor coming with the dac and maybe later buy 4.4mm cable or 2 since i have qdc and 2pin iems

Buying cables can get expensive, especially if you don't have everything all with the same 2-pin. One thing to consider for the future is that although you can't plug a 3.5mm cable into a 4.4mm amp, you can go the other way with an adaptor. It adds a bit of weight though so it's not the most convenient for e.g., plugging into a laptop. You can get modular cables as well, but there's less of them and they tend to be a fair bit more expensive for the same quality.

Alright. I was looking Tripowin Amber which is modular cable and is pretty cheap(atleast for my budget) and wouldnt hurt to buy 2 of those somepoint. Do you know if its any good?

dr_wtf

Yeah, it's not bad. Definitely one of the nicer ones for what it costs. It's quite soft, but it's not the best in terms of the cores staying in place. It's not the worst either. I quite like the TRN T2 and QKZ Q1 Max cables, which have a similar feel to the Amber for much less money, but the Amber is definitely higher quality. It's not 3x better though. Some other nice cheaper modular cables are the TRN RedChain and CVJ VS400. The actual cables on these feel higher quality than the Amber, but they're a bit stiffer. The hardware isn't as good (plastic connectors into the IEM), but that can be more comfortable in some cases. On the other end of the scale you have stuff like the Kinera Leyding which costs nearly twice as much as the Amber and is noticeably nicer, but once you get past that point there's no major improvements to be had and none of them have any affect on sound anyway. Artti also make some nice cables around the same price as the Amber (although the prices fluctuate quite a lot, sometimes they are cheaper, sometimes more expensive). The Wave A11, Pure A3 and Clear A9 are all, IMO, much nicer than the Amber. The A11 is, apart from the colour, *very* similar to the Leyding (the latter is maybe 5% softer). It's mostly about whether the colours match nicely and how the cable feels. If you stick to 4.4mm only then for slightly less money you can get slightly nicer cables than the Amber, in a wider range of colours. Companies like Xihns and ivipQ make some really nice cables, but their modular options are limited. They tend to have silly RRPs, but are on sale most of the time.
