One thing that stood out to me is that the city is more like a darker, high contrast theme that's easy on the eyes, but then the interface pops up and is just a bunch of solid white panels. Is there any way you can make the interface a bit darker to be more in line with the city?

Christerpapa

Interesting feedback! Thanks. We do actually have darker panels in the game, but we use those as an indicator that something hasn't been explored yet. We use them mainly on the planet screen (where you go to other locations). Although I will be honest, I didn't consider that the white might be a bit too much, was going for a clean utopian look. Will have a think about that though!

I'll start right with the store page feedback -- why is your idle game sharing info with third parties?

Christerpapa

As the game does have ads and basic analytics. Which are third parties.

Christerpapa

Don't understand why people are downvoting my description?

Hands

A lot of folks here are pretty against any IAP-driven commercial idle game no matter how "fair" the f2p model is. Downvotes are to be expected

Christerpapa

I figured that was the case. Thank you for the explanation though. Also I really appreciate all the upvotes the description got after my post! <3 Has more votes than the physical post now! lol

Komm

This sub is *very* jaded and tired. Try not to let it get to you.

DeRobyJ

Don't worry about it, best way to have a count of the success of your games is to have some kind of user counter. Votes here aren't that useful, I find. With exceptions ofc

CockGobblin

This sub is full of downvoters. Best just get use to it, lol.

quitemoiste

This sub expects mind-blowingly complex incremental gameplay for free, and they want you to thank them for playing it. don't expect much useful feedback here

JigglythePuff

In my first glance at the "uncover an ancient evil" picture, my eyes were drawn to what I now think are two giant rock formations? (which I originally interpreted as some kind of low res buildings). Looking closer I think we're actually supposed to be looking at the tiny black floating rock? Mostly I'm confused at how this is supposed to be hinting at some sort of ancient evil.

Christerpapa

Well, that's kind of a part of the story when you play, and I didn't want to give it away, since that screenshot is part of a cutscene. We also hint at it in the trailer a bit more. The buildings you see are a remnant of some unknown precursor civilization that trapped it there. Uncovered by the recent terraforming of the planet.

Don't often see Creeper World fans in the wild. I remember playing CW1 on the web way before it was on Steam.

Christerpapa

Not heard of the game! But will check it out for sure

Fayzen

I laughed at the fail screen, gj. More feedback to come.

Christerpapa

Ha! You have no idea how happy that makes me ❤️

dwmfives

Web version?

Christerpapa

Unfortunately no, just on mobile at the moment.

KDBA

Notifications on my phone without asking me first = immediate uninstall.

Christerpapa

Oh that’s odd. It should ask. As it’s a requirement from both Android and iOS.

Anuwiel

Didn't ask for me either. I don't like that fact and had almost the same train of thought as the guy upward

Christerpapa

Ok! I have looked into this. Apparently this used to be a thing in Android, where it was a system message. But they have now removed this requirement, and you have to make your own custom pop-up to handle this, since the notifications thing is now something that's set by the phone user. Apologies for this, as we were unaware of this. I remember testing the app a while back (when we were implementing notifications to begin with) and it was there at the time. Something for us to keep in mind for the future!

richabre94

Glad it’s on iOS. Will play it and see what’s up with it👍🏾

Christerpapa

Thanks! 🙏

My feedback as someone who pulled up the app for like five minutes before uninstalling it: This game is too pretty, unironically. Incremental games are fundamentally about navigating a bunch of menus. I don't feel like the game or ease of accessing information or moving around menus is prioritized. Showing off the art was prioritized. I found it annoying to move the camera around even with four building, I couldn't imagine how annoying it would be with more. I don't want to spin the camera and look at all the pretties. I want to select other things. I did find occasional slowdown on low graphical settings as well - my phone isn't exactly a brand new gaming tablet but it's not a brick either. I've never had those issues with other similar games.

Christerpapa

Thank you for your honest feedback and for trying Building Arcadia. I am sorry to hear about the issues with navigation and performance. We strived to balance aesthetics with gameplay. Your insights are invaluable and will help us improve. Could you please let us know which device you used?

Zireael07

After a couple days I think it's a pass. Pros: - tutorial Cons: - no quit button - I'm constantiy in the red and the only thing saving me is selling products but this requires active play - no way to get Phil to repeat his last tip if you mistakenly tapped it - high battery usage probably due to 3D graphics It would be much better as a browser game IMHO, where the first and last con no longer apply

Christerpapa

**Thank you so much** for your detailed feedback on Building Arcadia. I’m glad to hear that you appreciated the tutorial. Regarding the lack of a quit button, it's fairly common in mobile apps/games not to include one since devices handle app closure in their own ways. However, I appreciate your point and it’s something we can consider for future updates to enhance user convenience. Your comments about the financial challenge in the game and needing active play to stay 'in the black' touch on a core gameplay mechanic we experimented with to add more strategy to the idle genre. We aimed for a balance that encourages engagement, but it sounds like it might be too demanding. We'll review this mechanic based on your and other players' feedback. Regarding Phil’s tips, you can access all the game information through his menu and on the travel screen, but we understand the need for easier access to repeat tips and will look into making that more user-friendly. Lastly, we acknowledge that the 3D graphics can be demanding on battery life. Lowering the graphics settings in the options menu might help reduce battery consumption. We continually work on optimization to improve performance across all devices. Your insights are incredibly valuable to us and directly influence our ongoing improvements. Thanks again for giving Building Arcadia a try and for your honest input.

Zireael07

> We aimed for a balance that encourages engagement, but it sounds like it might be too demanding. It is definitely too demanding especially when combined with the idle time being only 4h and a nag notification. I am already on Low settings when it comes to graphics - they were Low by default.

terferi

Is it on mobile?

Christerpapa

Yup! Links are in the first comment.

Zireael07

How do I quit the game (as in go back to Android homescreen)?

Christerpapa

Swipe up from the bottom If you want to quit the app completely then Swipe up from the bottom, hold, then let go. Swipe up on the app.

Zireael07

Oh wait you mean Android's built-in app list thingy? Well, duh, that's an option but I expect an app to be close-able by itself and not by force closing from the app listing (square button)

Zireael07

Thanks! That's totally unintuitive/undiscoverable, needs a huge ass hint Most people will keep trying the back button whether from game or main menu
