I was really confused when I saw 32 Februari in the screen, lol. Would be a nice horror movie, where you can not escape that Romanian forest, because time stretches out.

San Jose/Silicon valley has them. They’ll stomp through the children’s playground. And tech worker’s rich housewives think their kids should chase them to get a better look!
It's funny how tech workers'rich housewives think that their kids should chase them
And the Viking women would be afraid of them but they know how to hunt them and also teach their kids
*my point is fear is a good thing*
Good point, I wouldn’t think that would be sustainable? Maybe prey prefers to avoid open spaces like where the camera is? Or the video just isn’t representative of what the camera actually saw?
That's a crossing path in a reservation, in the Fagaras mountains, so it's rather misleading, in terms of representation, but the ratio must be OK, since the area is protected because of the winset (European bison) you can see in the images, they have tags around their necks. They went extinct in our country but were reintroduced in the wild, through a concerted effort a couple of decades ago, and their population has been growing ever since.
The bears are a problem though, Romania has the biggest population of bears in Europe, around 8000, but since their natural habitat has been shrinking, due to massive deforestation, lately there have been a lot of incidents, involving bears attacking domesticated animals, in their search for food. To make things worse, our shitty politicians allow rich dipshits from the west to come and shoot them, even though they are protected, case in point: in 2021 a prince from Liechtenstein came an shot our biggest bear, a 17 years old male named Arthur, who was known by wild life activists, and when everything was discovered our authorities tried to cover it all up, saying they gave him a permit for hunting (the prince payed a fee for a trophy) a bear that was causing some problems in an area, and that he accidentally shot Arthur, which was a blatant lie because the bear never caused any troubles and he shot him in a protected area! Anyway, that's what institutionalized corruption looks like...

I love this video. im romanian and ive seen most of these animals in my lifetime. (some wild, some captive). I really love the mountains of romania and although i dont live in the mountains i visit very often and i have some heritage from there
Not here they wont, this is a wild reservation, those they don't touch, and you can tell is a reservation because the Zimbru have tags around their necks and are being monitored.
What I said before is a thing that happens on the regular in this country, I just didn't know this was a protected reservation.
Do you often butt in conversations that dont involve you out of a false sense of superiority or was this just an isolated flare-up of your untreated aggressive retardation?
Yeah, it's good to see the wolf population is still going strong even without Conrad von Hötzendorf to feed them.
(incredibly niche joke, I know, but I will not apologize for it)
It stopped looking like the forest behind my house in Norway after that bear wandered into shot.
Super cool video, I could watch hours of that footage, thanks.
Doesn’t have to be…
Looks more like a mass extinction of spruce trees caused by bark beetles. They might have been logged to avoid further propagation of the beetle population. Huge problem here in Europe because the European spruce isn’t very resistent to dry summers caused by climate change so the trees don’t have enough resin to fight of the beetles.
Could also be a natural spot with no trees depending on the height of the location
I work in the foresting industry in Germany btw
I think you are right, because that camera is in a wild life reservation, which is protected because of the winset (European bison) you can see in the video, so I highly doubt they are allowed to cut down trees in that area. You can see at the end of the video the purpose it was made for.

Well, they'll reach that place soon enough.
I visited some friends in Germany (near the black forest) and they told me that they had a (problem) bear. It turned out it came from Romania.
We'll infest the whole Europe given time.
No. They are not closely related. Both are part of the bovidai family. There are European Bison and American Bison. Neither are Buffalo.
[The difference between Bison & Buffalo ](https://www.britannica.com/story/whats-the-difference-between-buffalo-and-bison)
It is called a "Zimbru" they went extinct in Romania until recently when they were reintroduced and their population is now steadily rising, this is why you see those collars around their necks.
Bisons went extinct in Romania and they reintroduced them from Polish bison population. Scientists try to reintroduce them to their historical range all over Europe
The reason bison have been reintroduced is because it maintains the health of the grasses and creates space, microhabitats, for other species. Until recently, this function was performed by livestock, but with the depopulation of rural areas and the disappearance of livestock, the small vegetation in the forests grows without control and the risk of forest fires exponentially increases.
Yes it's a baby bison, but an European one, a winset, these are images from a wild life reservation, you can see at the end the details. The winset went extinct in Romania 200 years ago, but was reintroduced in the wild 2 decades ago and they are being monitored ever since, hence the tags around their necks.
Hello neighbor. If you were in our country it must've been one of them, I think they are spread around, in at least 5 protected areas, those particular images are from the Fagaras mountains.
Yes...I spoke too fast. There are few fixes and dear, but they are very very shy. I have live in Berlin, I have seen more foxes there in few years than in France for 20 years.
I also don’t understand why you are commenting to n stuff unrelated to my original comment. There is nothing wrong with eating jackal meat. Most people shoot them then throw the body away, I ate it once on a sandwich and now I’m somehow bad. The comment I made here was a joke and most likely due to me thinking about the time I ate it. We are also from South Africa and unemployed. They eat our small animals and then we do even worse than we are already doing, ask anyone here and they say they will shoot a jackal in a heartbeat.
It’s not even dog meat and nobody here would see it as that, I am just educated enough to have googled if it quantifies as a dog and then read they can breed fertile offspring with dogs, so that for me is basically a dog. Took my comment down seeing as you are misrepresenting the situation and making people downvote me
I think you should stop digging through peoples’ account over shit that doesn’t matter while then trying to tell people that they care about irrelevant things. And I at least have basic grammar under control unlike people who can’t differentiate between two,to and too; as well as they’re and there. English is my third language and I am rather proficient at it
Those animals are slow as fuck, taking several days to walk past
They for real be walking one step every 1-3 days.
I was really confused when I saw 32 Februari in the screen, lol. Would be a nice horror movie, where you can not escape that Romanian forest, because time stretches out.
Pencil that in quick! Ladies and gentlemen, we have a story here!
Their movement is so slow that it's imperceptible.
Was that bison in Romania?
Yes, European bison aka wisent.
they call it Zimbru in Romania

Cool
You mean Żubr?
They seem domesticated, one of them has a belt/bell/necklace whatever around their neck, weird they been let out to a forest though.
No vampires?
Who do you think took those videos at 3AM?
:O

Smart.
I was hoping for a bigfoot sighting.
Fun fact: in Eastern European folklore vampires could turn themselves into wolves. So... maybe?

Damn those wild boars are no joke!

fascinating!
Yeah, it is 😁
The ratio of predator to prey completely blows my mind. So few hares, deer, boars etc but foxes, wolves, lynx, bears in droves
I'm guessing they just show the more interesting animals so hares, roe deer etc don't make the cut.
Good point, I wouldn’t think that would be sustainable? Maybe prey prefers to avoid open spaces like where the camera is? Or the video just isn’t representative of what the camera actually saw?

Very cool. I’m impressed with the variety of wildlife. They don’t seem to run into each other at this spot.
Only the fox running into the poor mouse at some point... whoops
Animals walk 2-3 business days
Bobr kurwa
I love this video. im romanian and ive seen most of these animals in my lifetime. (some wild, some captive). I really love the mountains of romania and although i dont live in the mountains i visit very often and i have some heritage from there
What a healthy eco system
No worries, our parasitic klepto leaders will find a way to wholesale it to Austria for lumber and pocket the money. It's their M.O.

TIL, thank you.

Aprilie sounds cute tho.
It stopped looking like the forest behind my house in Norway after that bear wandered into shot. Super cool video, I could watch hours of that footage, thanks.
Great to see no humans messing every up.
The one-eyed wolf at :55 is the star. This was super cool to watch.
Right?? Very few things are as naturally cool as a one eyed wolf
This is why we should try to save nature! In Romania there is a big problem with illegal deforestation and poaching.
I didn't know there were bisons in Europe
This is fantastic! I’m on my way! Adresse please 🥺
Amazing! Almost magical.
The wolf with one eye in September must have a good story.
So cool, thanks
I was expecting a fucking kangaroo there were so many different animals
Wolves hunt in packs and only come out at night in this neighborhood.
Fantastic job
Amazing. That's a good biodiversity.
Hopefully they are still places not discovered from Schweighöfer, HS Timber...
nein
You can see how sparse the forest in the background is, so yeah. They found this place too.

They got the whole fucking zoo in that forest,
I saw a cat!! Or maybe a bobcat
It's a wildcat. If you're referring to the bigger ones those are Eurasian lynxes.

I wouldn't want to hike a trail where you cross path with wolves, bisons, bears and boars.
well I mean almost every trail in the forest goves you a chance of stumbling upon a bear
Not in my location. Yet. But I do hope that wolves are coming closer!
What's your location? I'm quite far from the mountains and bears attacked some goats in someone's yard at 20 min drive from here.
Possibly on another continent: Middle Europe
Well, they'll reach that place soon enough. I visited some friends in Germany (near the black forest) and they told me that they had a (problem) bear. It turned out it came from Romania. We'll infest the whole Europe given time.
I remember that. They shot him down and made an exhibit out of him. "Problembär Bruno".
If I took a forest walk where I live I'm not going to see bears 😅 unless no one has just warned me since moving to Aus lol.
I had no idea there were Buffalo in Europe.
There aren't, these are European Bison.
Also called european buffalo.
No. They are not closely related. Both are part of the bovidai family. There are European Bison and American Bison. Neither are Buffalo. [The difference between Bison & Buffalo ](https://www.britannica.com/story/whats-the-difference-between-buffalo-and-bison)
I didn't say anything about their relation with anything or their scientific classification. Learn to read.
Lol
lmao
Science bad.
reading hard
Mate, you're showing yourself up not me
It is called a "Zimbru" they went extinct in Romania until recently when they were reintroduced and their population is now steadily rising, this is why you see those collars around their necks.
Idk man that didn't feel like a whole year to me
As I started watching country roads started playing on my Spotify playlist and I think there is no better song that goes with this video
Looks like same animals in US forests. Incredible how similar life can be around the world. Very interesting!
That's because Eurasia and North America were connected via a land bridge at many points in the past. It allowed animals to migrate in and out.
So many different animals
The sound gives me DayZ vibes
There are bison and wolves in Roumania?? Other european countries should take note.
Bisons went extinct in Romania and they reintroduced them from Polish bison population. Scientists try to reintroduce them to their historical range all over Europe
That's cool. I just hope farmers won't oppose as always
I though it was a known fact there are wolves in Romania, like all those werewolves stories must've made it popular.
It's because wolves went extinct in many european countries so i'm quite surprised they still live in Romania
They're more common than people think throughout Europe. [Map](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a7/Wolf_-_populations_in_Europe.png)
Really? They are common in Romania, very common in fact.
Good to know they prosper at least here
Pretty busy trail
Don't worry, the Austrian lumber companies will get rid of all that for us in no time.

OP didn't shot the video, you can see at the end who made it, these are images from a wild life reservation in the Fagaras mountains.
0:56 is that a one-eye wolf?
Yeah I noticed him too, looks epic. With eyelights he gives Mimir vibes)
I scrolled too long to find this Have one of these new, worse than the old system, weird-ass reddit awards that I got for free
Thank you my friend. I will cherish this and use it on occasions I can help humankind along my journeys
I live close to Nordens Ark, a place trying to save and reintroduce endangered species to the wild, wisents are one of the many projects :)
Actually pretty cool
Ooh, pretty dope. BTW What's the animal at 0:36, is that like a baby bison?
Yes it's a baby bison, but an European one, a winset, these are images from a wild life reservation, you can see at the end the details. The winset went extinct in Romania 200 years ago, but was reintroduced in the wild 2 decades ago and they are being monitored ever since, hence the tags around their necks.
Ahh dope, I feel once I've seen one of those while cycling in the woods (I'm Bulgarian, so a neighbor of Romania) and I was wondering what that was.
Hello neighbor. If you were in our country it must've been one of them, I think they are spread around, in at least 5 protected areas, those particular images are from the Fagaras mountains.
No, I was in Bulgaria when cycling, but according to Google we have some of those too. Just didn't know what it was at the time.
Well we have foxes and the occasional badger in the UK! Sorry. I'll get my coat.
That's not an entire year, an entire year, would take an entire year to pass.
No Romanians?
Why does the camera move around so much? Would be easier to watch if the position would be aligned between shots.
Because it's hand held by a vampire
Peaceful bliss
The one eyed wolf is bad ass
What a variety deadly video 📹 👌
Lot's of 3 star pelt potential here.
There is NO ONE if these in the forest near m'y home... (France)
Not even foxes?
Yes...I spoke too fast. There are few fixes and dear, but they are very very shy. I have live in Berlin, I have seen more foxes there in few years than in France for 20 years.
What was the animal at 35s?
That's a [European wildcat](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_wildcat)
Very cool. Ty!
When a deer or something goes by, there are always coyotes or some predator who follows
Romania has mule deer, pumas and raccoons?
Hmm none of those species are present in the video. The deer seem to be red deer and roe deer. I'm not sure where you're seeing a cougar or a racoon.
What is that striped-tailed creature? At 0:18
If you mean the one at 35 seconds that's a [European wildcat](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_wildcat). The bigger felids are Eurasian lynxes
No, the one at 0:18 ... I definitely had the IDs wrong. But you have interesting wildlife
Oh yeah, same thing. European wildcat

Does anyone know where in Romania this is?
Fagara mountains
Oh man, they're taking days to walk a few meters. Similar to Sims where the guy takes hours to walk from the living room to the bedroom.
I ain't seeing no Dracula there!
Cool
I was expecting Dracula. Dissapointement.
Who do you think is recording?
That day counter is lame. There is a better way to do this. *shakes head*
