MinatoNamikaze6

That duck was confused af

noslab

Took the head clean off..

MistbornInterrobang

Took it four hits though. That duck just looking around like OOH. Something bit me a bit. AH, it got me again! Where the fuck is that... ACK! COMING FROM? I DON'T SEE ANY.. *splat* *extra splat for good measure*

Ghost_chipz

That's a goose mate.

DrMonkeyMcKenzie

Should of ducked though

Big_Spicy_Tuna69

I was always bad at that game

MistbornInterrobang

I thought so too but the comment I was responding to referred to it a duck and it does look too small to be a goose. I don't think the video gives us a clear enough look at the beak to be able to tell for sure.

Ghost_chipz

My sweet summer child... The duck (and the comment about it) is the green fella at the start that got one hitter quitted, his head came clean off. The goose is the giant white thing that took 4 hits to down. So there was a duck, and a chicken too.

MistbornInterrobang

I am aware there were two. I was specifically referring to the Whote one which is what I described in my comment. I already told you that I thought it was a goose but as White ducks absolutely exist, and I've seen plenty of them, when the person I first commented to describing the same hit said 'duck', I didn't think that uphoenix&sid of it. Tl;DR: OOPS Happen. You can let it go now

Ghost_chipz

Alright alright..... Keep you hair on. The whote one it is then.

surprisedropbears

Probably tied down or in some ways incapacitated by the falcon’s owner. That wasn’t a wild hunt.

MistbornInterrobang

I don't see anything to suggest it wasn't. Do you see something I don't?

spencer2197

I was confused finding out a bird was the weapon

southdre

Rush hour vibes!" Which wanna yall hit me"

Killintym

If that duck is British you know it’s thinking “Falcon Hell”

Apprehensive-Angle-3

I wanna know how the falcon doesn’t break its leg impacting something that fast…

willynillee

Especially with hollow bones

Vitamin_Queue

It's compressive vs shear strength. A rolled up newspaper will easily bend but takes a lot of force to buckle if you push the end of the roll against a surface. In the same way, the force of the falcons strike is transmitted along the length of their thin leg bones, which is the direction where they have the most strength. EDIT: u/Box-o-bees also linked a good askscience post in another reply about how bird bones are reinforced hollow structures

TH3_FAT_TH1NG

Hollow bones aren't any more fragile than ours. They make up for the hollowness through density as the hollows are just to store oxygen

SF_fullof_retards

I think you've been watching too much one piece. Bird don't blow or store oxygen in their bones.....

TheSt4tely

Air sacs are attached to the hollow areas in a bird's bones. Essentially, their lungs extend throughout their bones. This helps birds take in oxygen while both inhaling and exhaling. This adds more oxygen to the blood, providing a bird with extra energy for flight. TIL bird bones are lungs.

between5and25

I doubt it's a vacuum though

dfiner

Have you never seen the inside of a chicken bone when eating? It’s marrow…

between5and25

Yes 100% marrow no bubbles of any sort

anowlenthusiast

And chickens aren't very good flyers. Chickens spend most of their time on the ground and have denser leg bones than most birds that fly more. Bird bone density Isn't the same in every species, and not all bones in a given species are equally hollow, or air pocketed. Look at albatross bones and they are much less dense than a chicken, and completely flightless birds like emus or ostriches have denser bones. You still will find hollow/air pocketed bones in a chicken though, in it's ribs, and wings, areas where flight muscles are attached and more oxygen dispersion needs to happen.

between5and25

Nice I love that you know this haha

anowlenthusiast

Yes they do. Hollow bones allow for more surface are for oxygen to be diffused in the bloodstream and used by the muscles. This is important because flight requires a lot of oxygen to be used by the body as quickly as possible. Also not all the bones are hollow, mainly the ones in the breasts and wings.

SlevinLaine

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA this comment killed me. One Piece, hahahaha brilliant!!!

a_random_bum

Pretty sure they mean blood🩸

Nill-Perception

Why do they need to store oxygen?

anowlenthusiast

not all its bones are equally hollow, Its mainly the ones flight muscles are attached to, because that is where most oxygen needs to be absorbed. The legs evolved to be more robust on raptors who hunt like this. A songbird will have pretty delicate legs though as it Isn't striking prey and barely has to support any weight.

Box-o-bees

I wondered the same thing. I looked it up, and it's all about the structure of the bones aparently. lookielookiehi

How ant not die when dropped from high..?

Woshuojidan785

ants have too low terminal velocity to do any damage

Jaybird2k11

The actual Falcon PAWNCH

themonovingian

Bird on bird violence. I had no idea!

"Show me your moves"

McRedditz

![gif](giphy|pjR50GxphaXC0|downsized) Inspired the B2 design.

WeezyHusks

Other way around. Rocket falcons were inspired by the B2

The_Swim_Back_

Lmao

lagerauger

Closeup at 00:08 is a Goshawk, not a Peregrine.

wanderingfalcon

I'm convinced these videos deliberately show/name the wrong species in so that they will get engagement from the people who get mad about it being wrong.

lagerauger

lol it worked then

Background-Video4331

Beat me to it.

uptwolait

The thing is...

FourThirteen_413

I'm so sick of all these videos narrated by text to speech or whatever. But then again, I also will turn off a YouTube video just because I don't like the person's voice... So maybe I'm just a dick.

borkyborkus

At least there isn’t a stupid face in front of it holding some tiny little mic

FourThirteen_413

For real. Like just lemme watch the clip of whatever video you're showing me. Why do I need to see your goofy face covering up all the action?

Bad_wolf42

You sound just like the folks asking reaction content makers to be quiet. Their reactions are the point.

FourThirteen_413

Reaction content is stupid.

Bad_wolf42

![gif](giphy|F3G8ymQkOkbII)

Illiterarian

Or single words in the middle of the screen that make me want to throw up

PlanetLandon

Both things can be true

asmallercat

No these AI voices suck. They always sound slightly off and they're used so much on videos that are absolute bullshit that I just assume that any video with the AI voice is not true now.

TheDriestOne

Half the time the robot voice is just making stuff up/says stuff that’s just straight up wrong too. I saw one video where someone was trying to push together magnetic rocks that were repelling each other. Did the voice say the poles are facing each other and like charges repelling? No! It called them “reverse magnets”.

ImSorryRumhamster

They have special nose channels so they can breath while in a dive otherwise from the insane speeds their lungs would blow up. Did a report on them in school ha

SpooogeMcDuck

I wonder how many of them blew up their lungs before unlocking that evolutionary skill tree

Malevolent_Mangoes

One punch bird

_DapperDanMan-

100 pushups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10km run!

SpooogeMcDuck

Don’t forget no ac in the summer

AUorAG

If you notice, looks a lot like a stealth fighter on side view, not an accident.

nomemorybear

Enough testing with aerodynamics, and you're back to nature's design. If that wasn't the inspiration in the first place

tyfighter_22

B2 bombers have a chined nose for rcs reduction, peregrine falcons have a beak, results in similar side profile

DryOkra7058

Japanese bullet trains too use falcons measurements at the front to cut off noise

_InnocentToto_

It doesn't look like a stealth fighter.. a stealth fighter looks like it

AUorAG

True - by design.

PlanetLandon

Biomimicry baby!

Tthelaundryman

The government is not creative. They just shrank the big spy plane to make a small spy plane. #BirdsArentReal!

nailbunny2000

At least they dont look like the F-117, would be like an old PS1 character.

liamrosse

I used to live near Omaha, and there were Peregrine falcons who would build nests on one of the high-rise buildings downtown. Walking around the downtown area, you would occasionally find a full pigeon wing lying on the sidewalk - the falcon's hit would literally sometimes cause body parts to come off. One of my co-workers was high enough in their company's building that she actually witnessed an attack outside her window. Peregrine falcons are amazeballs.

Took-the-Blue-Pill

The hospital I work at has a Peregrine Falcon program and we have a very small pigeon population as a result.

Happyduckling02

You think these birds fast? Should see me on those scooters omw to sideswipe a pedestrian

faddded

Who felt bad for the prey on this one? They don't even stand a chance.

Octavian_202

The goose in the desert. I would feel confident saying this was a rich guy in Dubai allowing his Falcon to “hunt”. The goose was most likely brought there and released while the falcon was in the sky. I hope not, but the odds are not low.

sendmebirds

Yeah, I think you're right

Tranxio

Maybe if the duck had a lucky evade, the falcon might go splat on the ground

jereman75

A peregrine and I scared each other one time on a big climb in Yosemite. I came up to a ledge that had a flake with a kind of cave behind it. I heard some noise and then this little dude rocketed out of there. Some climbing areas have closures for peregrine falcon breeding times but not generally on El Capitan.

Fizzy_Astronaut

One of my favorite memories from Squamish is being up high on the Chief and having the peregrines chopping through the air nearby. It’s so cool to be near them. (Not during nesting season tbc since Squamish does close sections down for peregrine breeding / nesting every year).

Duck: aight imma head out

Cheap-Praline

This ai stuff is crazy . That's a  goshawk at 00:09. A very different bird.

glue123artz

SHOW ME YOUR MOVES!

androgenoide

I saw a pigeon explode once. I imagine there was some sort of raptor involved but it was too fast to see. Just a "PFFT" and a spray of feathers wafting to the ground.

JasonIsFishing

How does the falcon not get wrecked also?!?!

aznexile602

They have on board warning system to remind them to pull up.

wamjamblehoff

"CAW, CAW, CAW, CAW" That means pull up in their avian language btw

JasonIsFishing

😁I know that they have top tier avionics, I mean why don’t they get hurt from the collision? Nature can be fucking amazing.

digitaltravelr

Titanium alloy bones, of course

RQDobbs

SR-71 Bird

DeepTakeGuitar

Fake plastic submarine

7of69

Had one of those come in and snag a mouse or something right next to me when I was hiking. Barely had time to even react and it was gone.

Valuable-Apricot-477

Kez ya bastard

domo_roboto

feels like the camera person placed those goose and duck as targets.... they don't seem to be in their natural habitat

El_Neck_Beard

Now that’s interesting.

Kruzdah

Stuka

R-T-O-B

Now thats a proper boom and zoom

SmirkingSkull

To think the US used the diving body shape on a bomber.

CautiousWrongdoer771

Reminds me of playing a video game in first person. What in the hell keeps hitting me?

space-ggirl

holy fucking shit

ibhljim21261

I went to a Notre Dame - Air Force football game back in the early to mid 90s and Air Force brought their trained Falcons to perform. It was insane and the people who stayed in their seats at halftime saw something unforgettable. The place was up for grabs and those fans who went to get food or to use the restroom had to hear the crowd roars and wonder what in the world was going on.

SleepySiamese

Nature evolved wings so birds can fly away from predators. Also nature.. let's use that to hunt those flying ones to balance it out.

Humble_Examination27

Mike Tyson of Raptors

Technical_Tourist639

Works 100% of time, minus those 52 where the falcon miss and crash into his death

TraditionalHumor6720

Irl brave bird. Super effective even against flying types.

ChippyChipChippers

Nature is truly beautiful

BlizzPenguin

It is amazing the amount of wing strength they have to fly back up after a dive like that.

ExcitingBuilder1125

Stoop is the weakest sounding name for such a powerful move.

vampire_15

I hope thier target isn't my head

dallindooks

How tf do you defend against that?

Brother_humble

Animorphs taught me all of this when I was on the 5th grade.

Saymon_DaLateone9248

That's just freaking awesome

Independent_Ebb9322

I have useless knowledge which is awesome for this video! Animals use the distance AND speed an object is moving toward them to determine when they should run away or react. It lets them react earlier for faster moving objects, or react when a faster moving object is further away, so the relative reaction time allows them to get away. Fast objects get reacted to further away, slower objects reacted too closer. Birds determine when to run away based only the distance the object is from them. Which is why fast moving objects can breach the distance the bird will flinch or react to, but the speed the object is moving closes the distance from that point too fast and the reaction is too slow. I’m not biologist, but I assume the advantage here is amongst other obvious reasons like increased force with speed, but also at a certain speed a bird just won’t react at all before it gets hit. Hence that duck getting clobbered.

b0wie88

Train these for attack falcons

formershitpeasant

The b2 bomber took inspiration from the peregrine falcon unless that was just some bullshit someone told me.

Logical_Mirror_9088

Disastrous-Leek-7606

Falcooon Punch!

Christmasstolegrinch

That downwards plunge is a lot like the German plane in World War Two. Just as terrifying early on.

-DethLok-

"rocket falcon"?? You mean, a peregrin? Anyway, moving on... (unlike those victim birds, I guess...)

Somesrssht

Damn nature crazy af

Lightthefusenrun

Fun fact, biggest US population is in NYC. They love high altitude roosts, in this case skyscrapers.

Quantumercifier

I can hear the sonic booms. Amazing.

NirstFame

Really natural to clip wings and do the fowl equivalent of shooting fish in a barrel to human amusement.

sendmebirds

o7 at these camera operators!!

Carlisle_Summers

Would this be too gruesome for the Slow Mo Guys?

ExtraMeat86

The goose video is pretty twisted.

AtomFNWest

So it’s a Pidgeot using Air Slash and Brave Bird attacks, and rolling a critical hit

bananasugarpie

Do they hit with their beaks or legs?

zandariii

Falcon PAUNCH!

Occasionally_Visitin

youd think it like slices the preys throat or something but no it just punches it really hard in the face 😂

Wouldn’t the impact damage the falcon too?

Pause at 0:27. Bird looks exactly like a B-2 bomber.
