lol. I feel you. I have the knowledge, skill, and experience to do this. But I don’t have the CNC. I could probably outsource that part and do the rest myself, but just thinking about the time and effort involved makes me want to take a nap.
Woodworkers are known to be secret BDSM lovers.
Joke aside, sadly not, Computer Numerical Control, routers, laser cutters, hidrojets and 3D printers can all be controlled by a CNC machine.
Bit of woodworking, some resin, lots of grinding, some microcontrollers and sensors and some soldering....This is absolutely doable, but the motivation is the problem
I have a CNC with a 48" x 32" cutting area and am actually thinking about doing this or something similar but I already have so many unfinished projects. Oh and I'm lazy.
I'm the opposite lol, I can do the woodwork but I'm at loss with the electrical part- Anyway, the way I look at it you could use table saw to cut each individually as long you pre draw the lines and angles on all of them and then use flattest wood surface you can find to fit all of them and use those tile spacer then use corn skewer to stick on the top to make them stay in place while taking out the tile spacer and pour in the resin and then wait until dry/ cured then sand and you won't see skewer mark at all. Cnc isn't needed at all. Only issue I have is I don't know wtf what those electrical thing are or else I'd already be working on them. Agh.
If the lights faded out rather than stayed on I think it would be better. Add a knob so you can adjust the max brightness or turn it off. Then add wireless chargers in the whole thing so you can plop your phone on it and have it charge.
Do business casually rent CNC machine to an individual? I suppose it's possible to ask the shop to work on the piece (board), but I didn't think some random business would just let you use it.
Oh, he would still need the router, but the first thing he used it for was to take off the back so that the resin was visible on both sides, a large planar would have done it easily, but he may not have had access to one.
Honestly, the way I look at it you could use table saw to cut each individually as long you pre draw the lines and angles on all of them and then use flattest wood surface you can find to fit all of them and use those tile spacer then use corn skewer to stick on the top to make them stay in place while taking out the tile spacer and pour in the resin and then wait until dry/ cured then sand and you won't see skewer mark at all. This is amazing. Did anyone else think of having OP take one additional step and add a midi interface to the sensor modules and turn the table into an instrument/synth/drum pad?

Imagine thinking you’d want this and knowing how to do it all yourself…
I do but I am too lazy to

Consensual Non Consent?

Wild this is exactly what was running through my head while watching this, I could def do this, just need to outsource the CNC and well… laziness
Yeah same. My time off is too filled with being lazy to do stuff like this
Bit of woodworking, some resin, lots of grinding, some microcontrollers and sensors and some soldering....This is absolutely doable, but the motivation is the problem
I would rather pay someone to do it, only don’t know anyone actually offering tables like these.
Realistically, if somebody actually wanted to make these as a job they would have to charge a ton of money for them.
And the CNC machine lol. Small ones are cheap, but one this size is not.
I have a CNC with a 48" x 32" cutting area and am actually thinking about doing this or something similar but I already have so many unfinished projects. Oh and I'm lazy.
How would one get said knowledge ?
Depends on which part of the knowledge you want.
The electrical bit
Not from a Jedi..
Bend over and I'll show you
I’m bending… what’s next
But that CNC
I could do the electronics, but I’m at a loss with the woodworking

Oh snap nvm I found the modules, welps time to get start working on it lol.
Right!? I was so impressed with his workmanship, it looked so precise!
That’s a cool cat bed
Cat owner rule #29: whatever plans you had on a certain item, you can forget about it once your cat took interest in it. It’s theirs now.
29? I thought that was rule #1, lol.
Rule #1 is that you ain't the boss anymore.
Pretty sure it’s capacitance sensitive, not pressure. Very cool though!
Correct.
Opened the comments looking for this.
All that and you can’t use a coaster?

You beat me to posting this
I beat you for posting this
This is really cool, but I think having a coffee table that lit up whenever you put something on it would get annoying.
If the lights faded out rather than stayed on I think it would be better. Add a knob so you can adjust the max brightness or turn it off. Then add wireless chargers in the whole thing so you can plop your phone on it and have it charge.
Unplug it
Amazing. Looks awesome.
This is one of the coolest things I've seen. Awesome work!
This is cool as hell!
This is super cool. Talented guy.
You could entertain yourself for months with that table and a bag of 🍄🍄🍄
I don’t need mushrooms to enjoy this
This video made me realize that if there was a cat large enough it would lie down on our universe.
You need to tell me who you Get those pills from brother
How would this hold up against spills?
Neat, but that is a lot of work and machines unless you do this for a living
You'd probably have to rent time on the CNC machine. Everything else was pretty basic like a sander, router, circular saw.
Do business casually rent CNC machine to an individual? I suppose it's possible to ask the shop to work on the piece (board), but I didn't think some random business would just let you use it.
Pretty sure there are shops that offer rentals. Sorry, thought this was obvious.
I'm surprised he didn't get access to a large planar to get through the back instead of using that router.
But he had to groove it out. Not sure how a planar would work for that.
Oh, he would still need the router, but the first thing he used it for was to take off the back so that the resin was visible on both sides, a large planar would have done it easily, but he may not have had access to one.
Imagine their neighbors, they're using all those loud tools in an apartment building
lol
This is officially the coolest shit I have ever seen
Shut up and take my money
This is actually really cool and beautiful.
If only a CNC machine didn’t cost my left testicle

easy peasy lemon squeezy
There's got to be a furniture designer or engineer that can think of a way to scale this up for mass market production.
Uh hmm…I built a pretty big Lego set once 😂
This is amazing. Did anyone else think of having OP take one additional step and add a midi interface to the sensor modules and turn the table into an instrument/synth/drum pad?
"too much time on my hands"
this man is a beast
Some people have too much time on their hands...
This is absolutely sick AF and I'd buy this so fast lol.
Cool
I love how he cut out the hexes with a cnc.. but then used a hand router to do the backside..
Too much work Machines too expensive. Not reality
We're getting closer to hologram screens o-o
This would be good for finding things that you can't find but are right in front of your face as the table glows if something is on it. Lol
but on movie night you'll light up the room with your beer bottle
Catan is going to be so sick on game night
This is cool

I want this! How much?
At what cost? It's amazing but how much would it cost to produce with all the hours invested?
Can you post the cnc files?
I hate this video. What am even doing with my life!?!?
Where could you buy something like this?
If I had money I’d buy one of these in a heartbeat.
Cool. Plans??
Imagine shrooming your tits off and your coffee table turns into god's keyboard.
Ludovico Eunaldi is the musician.
I dont like that this guy is smart and knows how to do things.
yes
Where can I purchase?
I want one! TAKE MY MONEY!!
Great now sell this
r/diwhy
Looks cool. Completely useless waste of resources but cool!
God forbid we have nice things, it's still a functional table so I don't see the waste here. Better than most things you see on here
In his defense, plenty of interior stuff is.
