ChoPT

She died of Breast Cancer in her 20s… Fuck cancer.

no_talent_ass_clown

I had breast cancer at 34 and it's never far from my mind that I wouldn't be here if I had been born even 25 years earlier.

[deleted]

Glad you’re here now, though! Hope you’re doing well

no_talent_ass_clown

Yah, approaching 20 years of bonus life, A+ would do chemo/rads/surgery again.

ILiveInAVan

“Bonus life” I like that. I say “second life” sometimes think of it as my “1 Up.” Glad you’re doing well and still here, too. Every day is special.

manofredgables

Funny to encounter this. I called my dad's final years as "bonus years". He got pancreatic cancer(practically a guaranteed death sentence <1 year), and was really on the brink of death but made a complete and full recovery, and the cancer disappeared entirely. The odds of that are pretty nuts. Fricking pleural mesothelioma got him in the end, and it was confirmed to not even be related to the pancreatic stuff. Like, "fuck this guy in particular..." He died last week, and only got 2 bonus years, but damn if we didn't make em' count. :)

Aunt_Helen

I’m so glad you got that extra time with him and I’m sorry for your loss.

F4pLulz

So sorry for your loss. Awesome that you will always have that awesome memory of your dad beating the almost unbeatable.

MarvinHeemyerlives

Love ya, bro/ sis!

Nitero

Had something happen that I also shouldn’t have lived through. I call this part of life “house money”, I am doing my best to enjoy it. Cheers for your house money :)

apurrfectplace

Same, small cell renal cell carcinoma. Misdx’d for 7 flipping years (found in old scan, ignored). Should not be here… blessed to be!

beautifulcreature86

A good friend of mine got breast cancer at 23 and had to have a double mastectomy. It devastated her. What makes it worse is that she is gay and married and her wife is more feminine, so in public older people will loudly comment about her assuming she had her breasts removed deliberately. She's 36 now and those comments are still happening and it hurts her because not only do they not know what she went thru, but they don't know the pain of having her womanhood taken away from her. She almost died. She is so strong and kindhearted. People are assholes. Exit: Thank you everyone for your kind words, I'm definitely going to show her this tomorrow during lunch!

hucklebutter

Who thinks it's okay to comment on women's breasts publicly ever? And a stranger to boot? Yikes.

beautifulcreature86

I've known her forever and figured she was probably just paranoid. We had gone to Michael's craft store and 2 old women did it as they passed by!! I couldn't fucking believe it. I was livid.

ducksdotoo

I heard remarks made about my husband's stomach size when he was very sick. I'd turn around and glare, only to have another insult tossed. I regret every chance I had to stomp back and quietly tell them that the cause was cancer and he had not long to live. And added what a lowly form of oxygen thief they are. I will never miss an opportunity to speak up for someone else again. The two old women deserve the same treatment.

irishspice

Fuck people, too many of them are always looking to take a shot at someone because it makes them feel bigger. Your friend survived something that kills many women and it's sad that she lets strangers make her feel like less than she is. You can never take away someone's womanhood, no matter what you do. Perhaps counseling would help her understand that she's still feminine and beautiful. I wonder if she's ever heard about women getting tattoos to celebrate beating cancer and to re-own their bodies. It might be something for her to think about. Check this link out. https://www.chatelaine.com/longforms/mastectomy-tattoos/

Chickens1

I LOVE this shit. Nothing more bold than a big FU Cancer tat across your chest.

Chickens1

I mean, [could this chick be more badass?](https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.explosion.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2015%2F10%2Ffaith-4.jpg&f=1&nofb=1) NSFW if your boss is an asshole.

beardy64

Anyone who comments about gender affirming surgery is an asshole to begin with, so this makes them double assholes.

hyperfat

Kindly give her a big internet hug and all the f yous to the haters for us. I'm sure she's is beautiful with or without the chest bits. And hugs to you too for being a good friend. You should all go out for fancy dinner and fuck the patriarchy. :)

birdsmom35

I was diagnosed at 34 too and am four years out. It’s so great to hear from someone who has walked this before me.

pumpkinspicepiggy

I actually got her shoulder tattoo because of this! I have lynch syndrome, which causes higher rates of cancer (I had 3 before I turned 30), and since I love learning about well-preserved bodies like hers it only seemed right!

hopelessly_dreaming

What a lovely tribute! I wonder what she would have thought about someone alive thousands of years after her death getting the same tattoo.

pumpkinspicepiggy

I’d like to think she would appreciate it! I know I love the idea of matching a tattoo to someone who died thousands of years ago.

[deleted]

Yes. > She inhaled periodically the fumes of copper and mercury. but more importantly - fuck smoking.

buddhassynapse

Who the fuck smokes mercury. That shit is delicious as a drink. Makes me think a T-1000 came in my mouth 🤤.

pepiniello

It would have taken you zero effort not to write that last part 💀

Frequent_Trip3637

And also smoked weed for the pain

coffeeisgoodtome

That's sad, must have been hellish. Sorry for her.

GullibleRisk2837

She also used cannabis

purplespring1917

Cancer 2500 years ago? Liver king lied to me

xashyy

I wonder what in the environment could’ve caused this… perhaps a BRCA mutation 🤔

[deleted]

Cells screw up, doesn’t always need a cause. Your immune system kills off cancer cells every day. Your system has to be lucky every single day, cancer only needs to be lucky once.

xashyy

[Only 5–10% of all cancer cases can be attributed to genetic defects, whereas the remaining 90–95% have their roots in the environment and lifestyle](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2515569/)

Poisoned_by_putin

Thank you!

randomlycandy

"The finding of cannabis in a container near the body led to the supposition that the drug was used to relieve the chronic pain that the woman would have suffered." I wonder if it's still good! Someone should have snagged a bud and smoked it to see what 2500 year old weed was like.

svr34

I can't imagine the pain that she went through, one of my friends passed away due to cancer. Even with the morphine he was in agony in his last days, scared. It is a shitty way to go.

personalistrowaway

Thc degrades into super potent CBD. You would probably fall asleep for 2500 years after smoking thay

matreo987

does anyone know if the “deer” tattoo has any specific meaning? culturally to Siberia? i really like that design

CatGotNoTail

I'm a breast cancer survivor and immediately saved pics of the deer tattoo to cover up scars in the future. It's a really cool design. If you google "Scythian tattoos" a bunch of others come up too.

Rattlehead747

Thanks!! That was very interesting to read

Thanks! Interesting article. I learned something today!

I never understood this "it'll look bad when you're old", bitch when I'm old I'll look like a saggy bag o shite anyway. At least can look like a cool saggy bag of shite.

ComprehensiveDoubt55

My exact response to this is always that I’m going to be saggy and wrinkly like everyone else, just colorful. It’s always from women who covered themselves in vegetable oil to sit on the surface of the sun too.

[deleted]

Ha! This reminds me of being a young, dumb kid. My grandpa served in WW2 and had a tattoo on his arm. When I was a kid I thought he just had a perpetual bruise. One day I asked him how he got his bruise and he looked at me like I was stupid and spread his arm skin to reveal that it was actually a tattoo of an eagle. My dumb ass....

JayTK1336

Grannys with tats are rad

Kayel41

What if its a tattoo of your NFT ape you spent your inheritance on, asking for a friend

north_korea_nukes

On her other arm she asked for a 13 and they drew a 31.

Brew-Drink-Repeat

It’s a challenging wank, but I’ll give it a go…

Wow and it didn't even fade all that much, anyone have the link to the tattoo artist's instagram?

smegma_yogurt

@ugabuga

the_doctor_808

I think its @ungabunga

ProcedureNo7120

@therealungabunga2500☑️

flyfocube

I like how the checkmark is desaturated as if the account was mummified and decayed with him

captainmo24

It's actually because color wasn't invented back then, so they could only see and draw in black and white

Hitihiker

I actually believed this until I was like 10. Kids are stupid

flyfocube

Rightt how could I forget!

MonkeyAss12393

You just reached Silvio Berlusconi's IG

XVUltima

It's Siberia. Clearly @ungovbungov

yazzy1233

It's only 2,500 years old, dude

meerkatjie87

Lol this made me guffaw

ggsonego

WTF. She got the same tattoo at her elbow and forearm. This artist is lazy as f*CK or just invented the stencil.

Purple10tacle

That was 2500 years ago. Do you have any idea how limited VRAM was back then? Of course they had to reuse textures!

quaybored

they'd probably do it for free, for the exposure

its_all_4_lulz

I actually want to know which bands she listens to while rebelling from her parents.

whatsthiscrap84

"so I want a skull with daggers" artist "well I can draw a deer with flowers"

Any-Mouse-1992

Okay I’m gonna go ahead and draw Kermit the frog

WORKING2WORK

Now that's an old-school Family Guy reference you don't see often, and I likes it

trwwy321

Reminds me of the balloon animal person at parties. Kid: Can you make me a monkey? Balloon person: Best I can do is a dog or a snake

no_talent_ass_clown

How about a snake that's swallowed an elephant?

WinsomeWombat

Or perhaps a nice hat.

XanderWrites

Watching too much Inkmaster. "What are the back legs doing?" "I was trying to make it look more dynamic" "Well it just looks stupid"

Cicer

Also is that a tail or a dong?

DragonReborn30

Looks like they tattooed both. The dong (plus balls) appears between the back of the head and back legs. The tail is to the right of the back legs

forcepowers

The back-dong is the same as the flowers on the antlers, so unless the artist could only draw a few basic shapes, I'm thinking they're flowers. Or maybe the deer is super hardcore and has the balls of his enemies lining his antlers.

AC000000

My ex had this tattoo and she didn't like when I pointed that out to her. Looked cool either way

worstsupervillanever

In to older chicks, eh?

Eats_Beef_Steak

No, it's just another flower, look at the pattern on the antlers, same design.

[deleted]

Certain cultures used to eat reindeer balls. IIRC it was part of a ritual for strength in battle or something. Likely has to do with that

VespineWings

I tried to watch that show, but it consistently pissed me off. There was one specific part where a guy was trying to ink a *completely* unreasonable bitch. She just kept bitching and bitching, and seemed to have no desire to even *have* a tattoo. The guy was like, “look, you don’t know what you want. This shit is permanent. You’ve gone and pissed me off already. This is the perfect storm for a big mistake and I’m not doing this.” And they threw him off the show for it. He made the right decision– the professional decision, and they blamed him for the dumb bitch they chose. I just sat there with my mouth open while they trashed him for it. Fuck that show. Fuck those judges.

XanderWrites

Definitely an issue. Problem is they're judging art, but are very tied up in their own taste and style. While they berate the artists for doing bad work that is permanent on their canvas, they also constantly dehumanize the canvases who go in for a free tattoo, that's going to be done by someone that most likely isn't used to the style being tattooed and by the end of the day have every "flaw" pointed out to them. It's both shocking they can find people for this and also the people they find usually don't want what the tattoo of the day is. The judges also struggle with proper critique, driving a contestant to a mental breakdown in the 4th season, though it doesn't help that none of the artists are used to getting any criticism of their work. My roommate enjoys it more than I do. I find it rage inducing.

RealCommercial9788

The reality is, we’ll get clients like that from time to time. Studio tales the world over would reveal so many customers who are truly hard work to serve, we sadly encounter them occasionally. Honesty is my policy. I’ve had my fair share of asshole clients in my chair that gave me all sorts of grief. I’ve refused to tattoo on several occasions and for myriad reasons, but when the client doesn’t truly know what they want yet needs to control and micromanage the tattoo with zero experience in the industry and no idea what they’re talking about or how the process works/what the outcome will be, it’s far easier to say “I believe you need to go and think about this a bit longer, and perhaps I might not be the right artist for you.” than to corral a person into making a decision you’re BOTH clearly uncomfortable with. Most people accept that and we can keep the politeness and kindness, and those who don’t can kick rocks. We tattoo artists must make professional decisions and guide our clients properly, because this shit lasts forever and it’s *our* mark we’re putting on your body… it’s like signing off on a billboard - it’s gotta be right before we do it. That old saying - measure twice cut once - comes to mind. Both parties have got to be sure. Everyone needs to feel safe and understood. There must be a sense of responsibility in this game, not to gatekeep, but to educate and provide the best service and results to our clients that we can. We want them to be stoked with their new tattoo and return to us - and also tell all their friends about us! Some clients really don’t give a fuck and are just entitled narcissists with zero respect for our craft and an idea in their head that defies logic or tattoo possibilities. Most are grateful respectful legends and become our dear friends. Artists have the right to withhold their service if the client is an unreasonable asshole! As you said - Fuck that show. Fuck those judges!!

trwwy321

“It’s slipping on ice”

marionsunshine

There is clearly a little trauma and blow out on those lines. When will these contestants learn to punch that color in? Definitely bottom 3. Probably be saved cause Dave likes weird shit.

-TheArchitect

Looks like a sleeve

QuickSpore

[Here’s an article](https://siberiantimes.com/culture/others/features/siberian-princess-reveals-her-2500-year-old-tattoos/) which shows a lot more details of both her tattoos, and those of the man she was found with.

FiveAlarmDogParty

I’d love to see the rest of them not just the shoulder piece - looks like she has a whole sleeve

[deleted]

She also has: -- A butterfly on her ankle with some stars capriciously tossed around it, -- A shoulder tattoo of two baby footprints and some dates for the child that she lost to a saber-tooth tiger, -- Cursive script of some runes that in old Siberian indicate "Only the Gods can judge me," and -- A runic script of the word "JUICY" as a stamp just below the bottom of her back.

Diox_Ruby

You had me for the first one, wtf with the second, and then WHAM! I realized I'm being played. Well done.

SpadeHAZE

Same here lol, I was like “how tf they know a saber tooth got the baby?”

Violet624

You can look it up - she also has a griffin. Look up 'Siberian Ice Princess.' Not that they know if she was a princess- she may have been a priestess, or some other figure of importance. She also had a huge headress buried with her and I think a horse. Other people from the same burial mounds also are tattooed. I think there are the first tattoos that depict animals and such in history. Older tattoos were of dots, etc.

Givemelifebro

Is she dead?

con_zilla

Too soon :/

harderwiekertje

It's just 2500 years that like yesterday

[deleted]

Some people use humor to grieve. Even shortly after a tragedy.

DIESELANDBRUTUS

Bit raw yeah

Jedi_Yeti

More cured like jerky actually.

sbowesuk

She just needs to do her morning face routine and she'll be as fresh as a daisy.

Inyeloh

That is her mourning face

dannyrj91

Imagine her mourning breath?

DownvoteDaemon

She ded

DIESELANDBRUTUS

she died a virgin so I have one up on her cause im not dead

TT4400GG

Wow - whimsical, rather modern looking art, but so very long ago. We never change. We think we do - but we don't.

iceyed913

Anybody know what ancient deity this represents. Or maybe it's more of an animism thing?

itslooseseal

It’s a collection of a bunch of different symbols. There was another person buried there mummified with tattoos the same way. I remember reading once that the tattoos are supposed to help families/groups find each other in the afterlife.

mark-five

Oh dear... she has the same tattoo more than once, and she died young from a cancer that would have been slow and brutal. This has me thinking maybe she got the tattoos as a "don't forget to find me, mom/dad!" as she knew she was dying. Heartbreaking to think about...

[deleted]

It’s a deer

[deleted]

Siberian’s used to feed reindeer fly agaric mushrooms and drink their urine . And it gave a psychoactive effect . This is where some people speculate Santa Claus mythology originates.. 🤷🏽‍♂️

VetteL82

That was a wild ride

[deleted]

im sure its even more wild for piss drinking psychoactive santa clause, mans just trynna drink some piss as you do, next thing he knows hes fuckin flying and there's essentially a religion after him.

Eats_Beef_Steak

What? Who speculates that? Santa Claus was a dutch traditional figure based off of Saint Nicholas, a bishop of Myra in the 4th century. Edit: Referring specifically to the mention of santa claus, not the usage of fly agaric as a psychoactive, which is relatively well understood to have been used by viking warriors, among other cultures.

Check out [The Immortality Key](https://www.brianmuraresku.com/the-immortality-key) by Brian Muraresku

Lor360

The short answer is, we don't know any deities from that part of the world before 1500 years ago, when writing started to slowly spread and texts could be made. We have only pictures and statues.

kidification8

Deers and tigers are a common theme in Scythian and Pazyryk art.

PurpleVein99

Seeing her skeleton makes me sad. I know she's been dead for centuries, but maybe the way the skeleton is placed is what makes me feel that she looks vulnerable. Coupled with the poignancy of her choice of tattoos.

griffeny

I don’t know why and I know it’s not particularly rational, but I appreciate that they draped her in that cloth in the second pic. It felt like a bit of kindness to her.

[deleted]

I think the most universal trait across time and space amongst humans (and many other species) is respect for the dead. Edit: Although there may have been another reason for the cloth, perhaps more scientific? Not sure

Weird-Shoe

Ayo who’s her artist imma put $500 down in advanced

its-just-me-so

Okay but this gives me reason as to why I should get way more tattoos. Would you rather dig up just another mummification or a limited addition depressed human who ignored her mental illness with tattoos. Future me says your welcomd

thabeetabduljabari

Unlike this girl that was buried in an undisturbed tomb in arid, freezing temperatures in Siberia. Your remains will decompose far, far sooner tbh

LordMarcusrax

Imagine knowing that in 2500 years somebody will still compliment you for your tattoo. Wholesome as fuck.

RUAUMOKO

Doesn't look anything like a Siberian princess, more like a deer

HA92

No ragrets

WhiteRabbitWithGlove

I got this exact tattoo on my hip, it's one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

Panthalassae

Sure is - one of my friends has it on her shoulder! Glad to see other history fans

Thiago_MRX

Tattoos nowadays: *blurry after a few years* That tattoo 2500 years later: BRRRRRRR

DdCno1

I'm either missing a joke here or you're unaware of the fact that it requires a living body for a tattoo to fade over time.

BodhiWarchild

Looks like the Scythian tattoos. Gnarly group of people. Just like all the nomadic empires that emerged from that region.

Intelligent_Run_1877

How is this NSFW? Is it her lusciously sexy mummified boobs?

stratys3

It's a corpse.

midsizedopossum

It's a dead body at the end of the day

Solkre

Wait she just died today? So sad.

Intelligent_Run_1877

A dead body at the end of the millennium

Benry26

It’s literally a rotting corpse what do you mean how is this NSFW

SpadeHAZE

I’d imagine not everyone *wants* to look at the mummified corpse of a 2,500 year old lady

PmMeYourTitsAndToes

I zoomed in on the boobs. No regrets.

ElectricalGur4705

Is this some kinda ancient Capricorn thing? Lol

Thuwah_TheFuture206

lol came here for this, I have a similar one on my wrist

[deleted]

You’re on the same scientific level as someone from 2500 years ago!

BOLD WILL HOLD (2.5 millenniums later)

Tuindwergie96

Definitely Scythian, no?

Poisoned_by_putin

Yes. however scientists say she is most likely not a princess but a healer or shaman. this is because her burial is distant to other burials (common among these professions at the time) and since there are (i don’t really know how to put this) wealthier burials. i may be wrong on things so please correct me if i am wrong. this is just knowledge i have collected from various articles on her

thefeco91

[Seems like it.](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/43/Sciti%2C_placca_a_forma_di_cervo%2C_oro%2C_400-300_ac_ca.%2C_asia_nord-occidentale.jpg/1024px-Sciti%2C_placca_a_forma_di_cervo%2C_oro%2C_400-300_ac_ca.%2C_asia_nord-occidentale.jpg) The deer must've been a important symbol for the Scythians. Aggravating_Fee9300

Solid-Suggestion-653

Still wayyyy better then most of the stuff that people do now. And they say we’re “advancing” pshhh..

eeveerose63

Nah, she's a Capricorn 🐐♑

decimalplaces

what is that protrusion on the back of the deer?

ace_cookies

Okay so her hands look massive

windup_human

It's actually quite pretty, I wonder any tattoo shops hold a template for that.

Stump72

I've watched enough John Wick movies and now this confirms it. Those Russians sure love their tattoos!

NoOtterLikeMe

That looks exactly like Capricornus, what became Capricorn. A 2,500 y/o tattoo and it's a girl with her astrology sign on her arm, I love it

Seraphaestus

A deer with 4 legs looks exactly like a goat with two forelegs and a fish tail?

Sad_Chair8797

Are you sure ? Everyone regrets their first tattoo princess Yes. I want the deer-horse having a seizure like we saw 3 harvests ago!

tsivv

So tired of articles saying something that's old is Astonishing, as if people before us were idiots with nothing more than sticks and stones in their brains.

(Looking around at the people with sticks and stones in their brains today)

Ayn_Rand_Food_Stamps

Damn, that tatt actually slaps. It's a bit too tribal for my taste, but it still looks like something you could get today and have it look contemporary. Especially if the line work was tightened up a bit.
