Have you tried dropping it from 3 feet?

nikenick28

If you have Apple Care+ when you purchased your iPad then your good $49 and you get a new iPad if not then it’s nearly like $600

PeterDragon50

Screen replacement.

KingKazmaThe8th

Would it be cheaper at Best Buy or should I go to Apple instead?

PeterDragon50

I think Best Buy would just replace it as an Apple authorized repair shop, would likely be better to have it fixed at Apple in that case.

_HolyWrath_

Depends on where you bought it at before. If you have apple care service go to Apple. If you have BestBuy insurance on the product go to BestBuy. If you bought it on Amazon and didn’t get an insurance policy your screwed. If you did buy separate insurance on Amazon during your purchase then I would suggest checking your account to see if your still within the warranty period. Depends on how recently you bought it, and if you bought it new or used and or with insurance.

FlyTheW312

Yeah, 3rd party repair shop or apple or maybe even do it yourself. So sorry for your loss.

KingKazmaThe8th

Thanks! At least I have warranty😅

Brilliant_Okra1341

Warranty will not cover that

Jolly-Road44

Unless OP means apple care

FlyTheW312

I agree, that point of impact is a dead giveaway

joe_enco

Why wouldn’t Apple cover this particular issue? Could this potentially fall under “cracked screen” and/or “accidental damage” (though this is somewhat vague)?

Ok-Thought1021

Apple or any mobile brand doesn't cover physical damage

Brilliant_Okra1341

Apple covers only manufactured flaws

ResidentEivvil

Apple care was sold to me that if i damage my ipad like drop it or an animal breaks it etc. that it would be covered.

joe_enco

Ok, I guess I’m still confused. A couple years ago I brought in an iPhone to the Apple Store after dropping it and the screen was much like the picture shared here. The warranty covered the repair (with a service fee, of course). Has Apple changed those terms such that they would deny that same repair if I tried to have it done now?

[deleted]

Warranty is not the same as Applecare+. Only AC+ covers damage and there is still a fee.

joe_enco

But AppleCare+ is essentially an extension of the warranty, no? I don’t think OP is under any illusion that this would be a “free” repair (they’ve not stated as such, at least).

[deleted]

Warranty seems to be an official legal term, I think that sellers “have to” provide some kind of warranty. Like you buy something and it stopped working within a reasonable time with normal use. AppleCare is a form of insurance, it covers damage, regardless how it happened. I just did a search, this might explain in more detail https://www.itsworthmore.com/blog/post/apple-limited-warranty-vs-applecare-whats-the-difference

Brilliant_Okra1341

Apple have now applecare+ a monthly subscription in case you damage your product apple care plus will cover it

KingKazmaThe8th

I had no idea warranty wouldn’t cover a ice tal damage. If I buy AppleCare+ today and go in for a repair tomorrow, will the cost for repair be less compared to if I don’t purchase apple care?

Physical_Ad_2714

You can't by Applecare on a damaged ipad, when you go to buy Applecare the ipad knows its damaged and so won't let you buy it

Brilliant_Okra1341

Im sorry apple care+ is a yearly subscription not monthly and it cost 99$

Azurebold

Time to take it for repairs. You could send it to apple for repairs. I read in your other comment you don’t have AppleCare, so you might need to pay the full price for a repair. I’m not too sure where you’re from so I can’t put an estimate on the cost.

KingKazmaThe8th

Im from the Bay Area. Would it be cheaper to go to Best Buy instead?

Azurebold

I’m not from the US, so I’m not too sure about consumer and warranty policies that are in place. If you did buy it from there though, then you can check out what their warranty policy is and get the repair sorted out accordingly. If you bought it from the Apple Store directly though, I don’t think you could take it to a big box store to get it repaired. Another third party repair store might be possible, but it has its own risks.

madlettuce1987

Turn it off, wait 10 seconds then turn it back on. That should fix it. If it doesn’t just give us a call back.

Deep_Undercover123

Throw it up at the ceiling from 2 feet away…..that normally reverses the problem

AggressiveAppl3

How to fix the screen that got physically damaged from dropping the device? Well… just wait for the next iOS update. This will fix it.

Googlesignedmeupwhy

💀

KingKazmaThe8th

what

Googlesignedmeupwhy

Just... you saying "The screen is weird" Is funny. That's shattered.

KingKazmaThe8th

Oh lol. The touchscreen itself isn’t damaged or cracked😵‍💫but idk 🤷🏻‍♂️ ig it’s cracked from the inside?🫤

Googlesignedmeupwhy

The lcd is cracked, yeah.

pwnedkiller

You may as well start shopping for a new iPad.

Apprehensive_Yak4111
