+1 !!!!!

Damnmorrisdancer

In 2012 I created an Apple ID for my new born daughter. Best laid plan ever.

EyesEyez

Lmao 😂

saintnickel

Did! Thank you!

ThrowawayUnsent2

Them having their own id allows you to set up restrictions and also reserved their user id for the future if they choose to keep using Apple products

Uffen90

Create an id for him. I work at a school, were the kids use their ipads. The amount of kids with their parents Apple IDs are honestly astounding. I can’t tell you how many things get synced to the kids iPads when using their parents id. Pictures definitely not meant for other than “mom and dad”, search histories that indicated whose parents were going through a hard time. (Couples counselling, divorce etc.) the single dads and moms who have searched some “5 min. alone time sites”. Kids that knew what they were getting for birthday and Christmas presents.

RedDesigner244

Wow. That was the best comment I’ve read in a while

saintnickel

Thank you!

lazything2

I have two iPads for my kids, they each have their own id, it makes it way easier to get things setup for them. They can still access all my purchases, but the level of control is way higher.

saintnickel

Thank you!

Accomplished-Cut-264

I think the benefit is that you can get parental controls when you set up a new one but you might be able to on yours but I don’t believe you would want that

incompetent_retard

100% this. Screen Time and parental controls is awesome with iOS. Kids can ask for more screen time and you can approve on your iPhone/ipad/Mac or watch. The amount of parents who just give their kids unfettered access to every website is staggering. Age appropriate controls people, and open dialog with your kids on what is and is not OK!

saintnickel

Thank you!

Docster87

Make another. If you share, kid would have access to your email, calendar, notes, etc - all your iCloud stuff.

saintnickel

Thank you!

poetangel

Make their own, I just set up an iCloud email as part of the process. Much easier to set up controls plus then they will always have it so as they age (mine are 11 and 13) they might start getting apps that they will use for years so now they actually own those apps. It’s hard (if not impossible) to transfer things so I’d start now. My dad had used an email address for his Apple account that he no longer has access to and it’s been a bit of a headache to sort things out.

saintnickel

Thank you!

MoonStarCorgi

Make him his own. That way he doesn’t get your texts or phone calls on accident, as well as setting up parent controls

saintnickel

Thank you!

V3K1tg

make them a new one as a lot of things such as photos and search histories get synced with the other devices and if you have any purchases/subscriptions just turn on family sharing

saintnickel

Thank you!

V3K1tg

no problem!

i_need_a_moment

Would you give your child your own banking info? No, you’d make them their own account and set restrictions on it.

saintnickel

Thank you!

dajack60585

Create their own and usually the parental controls in the family share to regulate what they can and can’t see

Top-Seaworthiness850

I know somebody who used (uses still possibly?) the same Apple ID as their entire family. Like, their mother, brother, and sister. I found out the hard way when i shared my location with them and subsequently, their entire immediate family.

MAQMASTER

Reason why I’m saying to make it as their own it’s because in the future, they can use it as their own

saintnickel

Awesome ty!

ProfessorFunky

Create one. It will save you so much pain in the future. Use family sharing and screen time, and you can lock the iPad down remotely and manage it. I have kids, it is a great way to do it (even if it’s not super user friendly).

saintnickel

Thank you!

musicmast

Make their own. The only important part is to just be able to add them to family

WispGB

Never use your AppleID on anyone else's devices. Your AppleID is for you and your devices.

saintnickel

Thank you!

MAQMASTER

Create a new Apple ID for your kid and make it into a family stuff

Thank you!
