He must have added himself to the find my app on your phone. Follow the other comment to disable him. I suggest doing it all in one swift movement as you leave so he doesn’t suspect anything. Good luck.
Go to Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Location Services -> Share My Location -> Disable Share My Location completely or remove his contact from the list.
Never share location via iMessage. Just use Google maps and share from that instead.
