Cricket in our country is run like a business gives out a sub-contract—little known people put in the hard work and build up the place (young new and promising players during IPL) and during the inauguration, the big business takes all the credit (big name players alone make it into the national squad) You’ve got to be delusional to think that Hardik Pandya would be left out of the squad for the T20 WC. That is not to say that he deserves a spot, given his terrible recent form, extremely immature attitude, and public opinion about him. The last point though may be a tad too harsh on him, but that’s how fanatical our country is about the game. He will probably score big and get wickets against the minnows. Al will be forgotten and then when he flops during the big games, it’ll be said everyone has a bad day. There are some incredible young players who’ve proved their mettle, but I doubt if our selection committee will prove their own. I hope I’m proved wrong about this. It’s a pity that we have such an incredible talent pool who only ever get to play for big money in the IPL and not get a chance to represent the country at the big stage.

This is a clear example of captaincy weighing down a player. It's the pressure of expectation, he's trying to do too much and make up for previous failures along with trying to pull a rabbit out of his hat as captain. He feels the need to do that bit extra because of all the criticism and possibly the team dynamic, it's too late to back down, he has to be bullish and suceeed but it's just not happening. Hardik Pandya is an amazing player and a decent captain when all he's thinking of is the current match situation and how he can win, but these distractions are destroying him and MI at the moment. Taking over from Rohit after this season would have made things so much better for him imo.
If dropped from the World Cup, it will be big blow to the Mumbai Indians brand value. Mumbai Indians chose Pandya after GT performance in last 2 year, they wanted to cash more money on the name of Hardik but they failed miserably and if he will not be part of the world cup team then it will make Mumbai Indians to level of PBKS brand.

He has been a good player in the past. I think the pressure and hate is kinda getting to him. If you look at it from his perspective he did nothing wrong by taking the captaincy. Anyone who wishes to advance in their career would take that opportunity or at least ask for it despite the risk of sucking at it🤷🏻♂️. I'm not sure if I like him or not, he maybe a terrible captain, but gt sucks now that he isn't the captain which is something to account for
