Where in Donegal are you staying?

Haven’t decided. This night is just a stop between Westport and Derry. Any suggestions?

The weather is the critical thing in Feb, you need to plan your activities around it. Your itinerary is fine, look up local tours for each area. Feb is completely off season, so do your homework to ensure places are open. Have you priced the one way car hire, dropping in Belfast, if it is reasonable go for it. I have not heard of it before. I would close herd before booking accomodation.

they will be charged an international drop off fee for dropping off the car in the UK

There’s nothing at Malin Head. If you are keen going up Inishowen then call at Fort Dundee and/or Doagh famine village instead. You’re missing Ulster American folk park from your itinerary. Recommended!

I have news for you are you aware you are going to be driving in two completely different countries with two completely different set of road rules road signs and speed limits, because if you are not then you are in for shock, you are going to cross to border into the United Kingdom into Northern Ireland, the UK uses miles per hour (Ireland uses kilometres per hour) also the road signs in the UK are different to those in Ireland, also i suggest looking at the British highway code for Northern Ireland and familiarise yourself with road signage and street furniture as found here https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/highway-code also you will need Pounds for the United Kingdom not euro, also as of next year anyone crossing the border will require an ETA from the UK government, even though there are no border controls between Northern Ireland and Ireland https://www.gov.uk/guidance/electronic-travel-authorisation-eta
