Teeling without a doubt. The Jameson Distillery in Dublin is small in comparison to Midleton and honestly Teeling makes a better whiskey. Go there. Their Single Grain is matured in red wine casks and is hard to drink because it smells so good you don’t want to! The Single Malt is also a great sipping whiskey

Speedygonzales24

Seconded on all counts. Jameson’s tour isn’t *bad*, nor are the guides, but it’s a little bit too polished and rehearsed. In my experience, the Teeling reps will stop and have a chat and maybe a sip with you afterward. I've not had the wine cask one before, but the single malt is incredible.

Kill_Shot_Colin

I didn’t even make it to a tour! 30 minutes before close and a barman named Nico took time to walk me through a tasting. My brother and sister in law went on a tour and loved it so I’d definitely recommend it. Now the Midleton distillery? That’s a different ball game

Lopsided_Tap5841

I beg to differ have you tasted there small batch and the black Pitt’s I must be missing something but my god never tasted anything as bad

LeroyTheBarman

The Teeling tour is best as its an actual working distillery. The Jameson distillery is a visitor experience as Jameson hasn't been made in Dublin since 1974 or so. But you can go there for a cocktail and I think it has the best Old Fashioned in town. Also as a side note call in to Bar 1661 for a Belfast Coffee a poitin based hybrid of an espresso martini and an Irish coffee.

Pearse Lyons is stunning. Built in a restored church, very intimate, great attention to detail, love it. The good news is all the ones you list will absolutely not disappoint.

OneBackground828

Came here to say Pearse Lyons

A_90s_Reference

This is the only tour we did but we loved it. Just a badass location

archdall

Roe and Co in Dublin 8 is very impressive.

murbike

I've been to both Teeling and Jameson, and prefer the Teeling experience. It's a working distillery vs Jameson being a museum with a great bar. I love Jameson, but from a visit perspective, go Teeling.

Jim_Chimney

I’ve done them all. Teelings is my favorite.

Mobile_Marketing_794

100% Teelings

BakingBanshee

Liberties was a great distillery tour, small operation but we had a great tour guide named Kevin. Delicious products in my opinion. It’s the only distillery I was able to see on my trip but the Liberties guys recommended Pearse Lyons. Also the Whiskey Museum was well worth the trip.

PaParamedic

Can confirm. Also the history was amazing

Carberhotdogvacuum

Wife and I did a cocktail making class at the Jameson distillery. Really fun time. Got to make and drink 3 cocktails over an hour or so class

[deleted]

Yea that class is a lot of fun. Especially if not everyone in the groups likes straight whiskey

[deleted]

I think you’re getting a lot of outdated information here. Teelings when it opened a decade or so ago was groundbreaking. It put the likes of Jameson to shame. But since then Jameson has caught up and overtaken Teelings. I’ve done Jameson, Roe and Co and Teelings in the last 2 years and Jameson really is the best. There’s a real buzz about the place starting with the bar where you start off, and there’s a large range of tours and classes (id recommend the blending class) you can do, from tasting to more informative ones about the process itself. Roe and Co is also great but it’s a much smaller operation so if you’re only doing one I wouldn’t pick it.

Lindischka

Husband and family went off to teeling and said it was FANTASTIC

_DMH_23

The bar in Jameson is pretty cool but it’s not a working distillery. You would need to go to Midleton in Cork for that. Teelings is a good tour even though I’m not mad on their whiskey

cactusbarb

If you’re into gin, we went to Stillgarden in Dublin last fall. We took public transport. It was fantastic. Not a huge ‘experience’ tour or anything but really very nice! https://maps.app.goo.gl/EJqkRQ9AudPTP1mY7?g_st=ic

[deleted]

I want to do both but wife doesn't like straight or strong liquor. Jameson's has a cocktail experience and I know she would gladly do that over me dragging her to another tasting.

geedeeie

In all the distilleries they offer you soft drinks as an alternative.

[deleted]

Good to know. I meant to say they have a cocktail making experience where you make/drink 3 different whisky cocktails.

Kill_Shot_Colin

The one in Midleton is the place to go. The bar setup there is gorgeous. We just did it recently and while more expensive was far more fun than your standard tour. After a few distillery tours they start to blend together like brewery tours aside from the history. Being taught how to make your own cocktails from an experienced mixologist? It’s like teach a man to fish yeah?

geedeeie

Midleton is ok but again, it's not a working distillery, so you don't see the actual process. I mean, it IS a working distillery but the visitors don't get to see that bit. If you're in Cork, it's definitely a good option, but in terms of visiting Dublin, Teelings is much better than Jameson because you actually get to see where they make the whiskey.

Kill_Shot_Colin

I meant in terms of the cocktail class

geedeeie

OK, but you hardly do a distillery tour for the cocktail class 😉

Kill_Shot_Colin

You do if you’ve been to them before 😅 I think Midleton has some beautiful grounds but they don’t really hold a candle to some of the distilleries on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. So for a distillery like Jameson for a whiskey you can get all over the world, doing something a little different is a good way to shake things up and have a unique experience different from what most tourists do. But again, if you wanted to do a tour, Teeling seems much more interesting and engaging than Jameson’s

geedeeie

Beautiful grounds? Midleton? It's a small courtyard..

geedeeie

Teelings was my favourite. Great guided tour and you get to see a lot.

DWTBPlayer

Teeling is my favorite in Dublin. But Tullamore was my favorite in Ireland and is an easy day trip from Dublin.

Left-Ad-3767

So dumb question, why limit yourself to one 😂

_Boston_Tea_

Maybe I'm making a top 3 (or 4, or 5) list based on the answers. 😄

CaptainCate88

Teeling and Roe & Co get my votes!

CaptainBrooksie

Teeling!!!

ChatHole

Neither. Go to Kilmanham Goal instead.

SnarkPunch1212

We did Guiness, Jameson, and Teeling. Teeling by far and away exceeded Jameson for the tasting experience. Our server put in a lot.of personalized effort. We had a great time and learned a lot.

SnooChocolates2805

Well Jameson in Dublin isn’t an actual working distillery. Im in Dublin now and flying back tomorrow. Our cab driver is the one that told us to skip Jameson. The Guinness tour was cool especially with the upgrade so we got two pints of Guinness.

Teeling also makes the Fighting 69th Whiskey. Had it in their armory in Manhattan, outstanding tipple
