i’ve been mining some today after the update for ~1hr, i’d estimate about 1 to 1.5 minutes per vein that you mine (probably more with the best mining gloves, since you get +1 ore per vein if i understood correctly, but idk since i don’t have them).
but to me atleast mining amethyst feels a lot nicer now that you don’t have to move every time. for reference i’m 93 mining, using celestial ring + d pick

So with expert mining gloves you get 3-4 successful mining actions. You are correct that Varrock 4 armour will make 10% of those (I think) give 2 amethyst.

yeah :D did a couple hrs today, at times i’d mine the whole vein in 15 sec and other times get the 4+ min and wonder like damn my character is STILL going??
I just want one good reason not to do it i'm fine if you don't want to do it.
In my eyes the pros: You complete the master clue faster and get the reward casket earlier, can completely ignore the worst and least fun cryptic cluesteps and the hours you save doing it long time you can spend on getting more of them.
The cons: I guess it can take time to find a good crytpic clue worth saving? And that you don't understand what "juggling masters" mean and it sounds complicated when it really isn't and especially with 1 hour dropped clue timer existing.
Those five levels will save you more time in the long term with the run energy alone.

Alchemist should be pretty much same speed (a tiny bit faster maybe) but a bit more chill
Telekinetic theater is improved a lot, both in speed and QoL. Running non-stop, not having to wait for the golem to move, no telegrab delay and extra xp is awesome.
Enchanting was chill, keeps being chill, Not a big difference, a slight improvement to max efficiency with less running and extra dragonstones, but if doing the chill "just pick whatever and enchant without looking at the screen" not a big difference. Still, extra xp and marginal improvement, plus better inventory management.
Graveyard is awesome, literally twice as fast once you unlock bones to peaches, plus less chip damage and now avoidable if you want to bother. Also extra xp and better inventory management.
Overall, great improvement, will green log (have wand, boots plus B2P).

Since you can get decent xp along the way, Zalcano for the crystal tool seeds might be something to consider while training mining. But I'm mostly just waiting for someone to drop a solo VM guide based on those changes 👀
I'm not a big fan of content where you have to put a small group together, so I've avoided it even though I know it's supposed to be really good. Even if solo is only like 80-90% of team VM, it'll still probably be my primary method to 99
Solo was already viable. I've been doing VM solos for about 5m post-max xp for the pickaxe log slot and averaging 75k-80k/hr. These changes really only remove the 1/20 chance to be royally fucked over after halfway point (that was already preventable by playing defensively), and hopefully able to mine the 3rd rock to depletion before the halfway check every time with half a minute wiggle room.
One of the funniest falacies that has been aped for so long is that solo VM has not been viable and that it's so sweaty. It's one of my go-to chill activities until I get the log slot. It's more chill than tempoross or guardians of the rift in mass. It's afk for 7 out of 10 minutes and reliable 75k/h+ xp. I just hope I can still find solo worlds after this update, the fact that it was unpopular was really nice.

This is a great guide. There are efficiency improvements to it that you can figure out on your own as you get comfortable, but the basics are all there. An update to that guide after this update would be that you will pretty much always be able to mine the rock to its 3rd completion before going to check B/C in halftime (so that it floats to where the B vent is).
Noob question, do we know when these patches will effect the live game? I just started a few months ago and don't want to waste time on agility until after it's update.
Generally, game updates are always on a Wednesday. There might be one or two times a year that a holiday or something else causes them to update on not a Wednesday, but those are very rare occurrences.
I sure hope they changed that, because I don't know if it's even possible to go from 30 to 57 mining and get 100 nuggets. I started at 41 and I'm 52 mining with 34 nuggets.

Not seeing any mentions of the mining gloves working on sandstone - wonder how much impact that will actually have since most of the mining is instant so will lose a fair amount of ticks waiting for the second/third extractions. Maybe mildly less effort for the grind for those that want it, but slower overall?
Edit: Seems like the operation resets properly when receiving an ore instead of being slowed down like re-attempts at a failed mine, so likely a straight buff to mining rates if you're not tick manipulating. Thought it might be more like a failed mining attempt where the subsequent mine takes longer than restarting.
Prob only noticeably if you have d pick for the 3t But you should realistically have 93 crafting by the time you have a dpick anyways unless you did wildy slayer for rev weapons+VW, and 99 crafting after 93 is passive from boss drops

This is not true and is one of the biggest flaws of the energy system as it is now. Higher agility has no effect on energy depletion, weight does. Higher agility makes your energy restore faster, which is completely different when it comes to needing run energy uptime.
You know to be honest you're 100% correct that agility is just too slow but somehow I think Jagex has successfully gaslit me into being excited that I'm getting 60k xp/h at polniv course lol. Seeing you mention 108k xp/h at sepulchre sounds like lighting speed.

Really frustrated with the slayer changes making lower level (pre-gargoyle) slayer monsters even less relevant than they already were. The skill is just completely dead outside of cave horrors until MM2/Gargoyles/etc. around 70+, and now you have even fewer reasons to interact with the cool monsters.
Nah theres warped scepter now. Also youre supposed to be training slayer for essentially all non-boss combat xp anyways. Theres absolutely 0 downside to early levels being nigh on useless
And as we’re seeing they are slowly adding more midgame weapons. Are you forgetting about the atlatl? It’s fantastic at the same places blowpipe is. You just got to let them design and release them. Most players won’t ever get past a rcb honestly. It’ll be the best crossbow they’ll ever get. Most of the player base doesn’t have it in them to grind out a dragon crossbow let alone a acb. And the zcb might as well not even exist.
Skill rebalancing is a whole other issue that the community is split on. The amount of time it takes to skill your way to a msb far outweighs just doing some clues I agree. But the “keep oldschool oldschool” camp would throw a fit. I’m in agreement that production skills should be rebalanced. Like needing lvl 99 smithing to make lvl 40 armor. But a big portion of the community doesn’t want that kind of stuff touched.

Edit: wrong info. Read reply below It's from 1.31 to 2, unless you use varrock platebody. Then it goes to 2.2 on average or 4 per vein at most

I always think though the time it takes to train the 5 levels is way longer than the time saved with the skip. I struggle with motivation on agility!

Amethyst is going to average our to 4.375 mines per vein instead of 1.25 now that's a huge improvement
The gloves were changed, they just provide a flat +1 mine per amethyst vein, so 3.5 mines per vein.

You get the normal refund amount (80% of points to imbue, or the scroll) back if you die in revs with one.

The real issue is that agility doesn't give you anything. So much grinding for basically nothing in return compared to other skills.

The adjustments to run are being worked on but why good off an entire update on 1 small portion. We should hopefully see it sometime this year.

How is brimhaven agility for amylase?
Is there any timeline for project rebalance when they will do the update? Is there anything on whether it will be one big patch or maybe select skills at a time? I haven’t been very up to date
Really frustrated with the slayer changes making lower level (pre-gargoyle) slayer monsters even less relevant than they already were. The skill is just completely dead outside of cave horrors until MM2/Gargoyles/etc. around 70+, and now you have even fewer reasons to interact with the cool monsters.
Nah theres warped scepter now. Also youre supposed to be training slayer for essentially all non-boss combat xp anyways. Theres absolutely 0 downside to early levels being nigh on useless

You need 80 fletching to make a magic shortbow lol, which the blowpipe is far better than. It should honestly be higher. It’s fine at 78.

And as we’re seeing they are slowly adding more midgame weapons. Are you forgetting about the atlatl? It’s fantastic at the same places blowpipe is. You just got to let them design and release them. Most players won’t ever get past a rcb honestly. It’ll be the best crossbow they’ll ever get. Most of the player base doesn’t have it in them to grind out a dragon crossbow let alone a acb. And the zcb might as well not even exist. Skill rebalancing is a whole other issue that the community is split on. The amount of time it takes to skill your way to a msb far outweighs just doing some clues I agree. But the “keep oldschool oldschool” camp would throw a fit. I’m in agreement that production skills should be rebalanced. Like needing lvl 99 smithing to make lvl 40 armor. But a big portion of the community doesn’t want that kind of stuff touched.
