I was a guest, not the photographer. This was taken with my iPhone and just a purely accidental shot. Thanks to the Live Photo feature, I was able to save the exact moment the lightning flashed
This is the second time I’ve accidentally captured lightning because of it! Now I wish my professional camera had the feature cause I’m not patient enough lol
This is amazing!! Tell your friends thunderstorms in fiction represent sexual tension (a good thing for a marriage, I think) and rain on your wedding day is supposed to be good luck! I don’t care about superstitions unless I can positively apply them.
That’s a great movie thou my parents use to love stories to each other and that movies is a movie for lovers and hope will meet my soul mate so that we can watch it together

Somewhere in Pennsylvania. I can’t remember the name of the town since I flew into a different one and then they picked me up. One of the other commenters said they used to live over there and he mentioned the name I think
So many superstitious folks sayin that lightning is a bad omen. In ancient egyptian mythology lightning was a good sign and symbolised protection because the god of protection was brought forth from the womb of the universe into the world by lightning striking a lotus flower.
It’s funny to me because weather like this is my favorite. It feels powerful and beautiful. I would never think it was a bad omen. I mean, just look at those colors! Weather like this always brings the prettiest skies
The original photo isn’t like that but since I adjusted it with the Live Photo feature, it does that. I could photoshop the sky into the original photo but it’s just an iPhone pic so not worth it to me
Best wedding I’ve ever been to: held outside in a canyon. 72 degrees spring evening. 5 minute ceremony. Both bride and groom cried. Massive lightning storm going on overhead. No cloud to ground strikes, no rain. Groom’s mother was a caterer.
Are the two white lines on the hill on the far side of the lake and to the right of the bride actually there or are those ground leaders coming up to meet the lightning?
They are small, concentrated areas of positive charge that reach up from the ground to meet up with the negatively charge lightning coming from clouds. There can be many of them that are drawn up and out of the ground from a single lightning strike but generally only one connects with the main bolt to complete the circuit. They look strikingly similar in size and scale to the windmills in your picture

I used to live on the other side of that river. I recognize the two windmills in the back. (two white pole things to the right of the bride's head)
