I remember him telling a story on stage in Chicago at a Lolla aftershow about getting to keep a number card from the analog scoreboard at Wrigley and saying "are you fucking kidding me" upon seeing it was a "3." He had it on stage. Pretty sure it was one of the yellow ones used to indicate runs scored that inning.

I love and appreciate that there’s no explicit swearing in his music because, as a teacher, it’s frustrating to find kid appropriate music, but I’m always able to find White Stripes or Jack White songs that I can play in the classroom. I also have certain songs that match well with certain lessons of mine.
Also, it’s frustrating to me to hear teachers play Jack Johnson’s version of Were Going to be Friends, cuz…why not play the original and harder version?! lol.
You've just given me a flash back to my P7 teacher who would often get out the guitar and sing for the class. One of his regulars was Brim Full of Asha by Cornershop. He'd sing the song right up to the 'Everybody needs a...' then say 'OK, right thats enough of that one' and go on with teaching.

What grade , if you don’t mind me asking . I sub for elementary and usually play Khruangbin’s newest album in the background because lyrics will get students riled up . How do your students react to The White Stripes /Jack White ? I teach in the inner city,k-6th. Tame Impala solicited a “What is this ?” From fourth and “Everybody wants to rule the world” got a “you didn’t have to get this real, misses” from third /fourth graders .
Mostly grades 6-8 because I use some of their songs for background music during lessons or themes. I’ll play Seven Nation Army for other grades because our MLB stadium plays it to rally the fans, although that may be popular for all of sports.
He doesn’t swear heavily in his music. Only tame words like “hell” and “damn”.
He does though in interviews and in certain live performances. Also a few times in Under Great White Northern Lights.
He just called someone a fucking idiot last week.
