He (they) played the night after the accident and then they canceled a bunch of shows. That's not surprising - adrenaline after an accident can carry you for a while. But point being, he's likely ok, just needs a timeout.
I wouldn't be surprised if he has trouble standing and playing for an entire show just from physical pain but just the vagueness of how they've been describing it leads me to believe that it's more so a mental issue with being on tour
I've said this before, as someone who genuinely loves the band/knows the guys. Since they truly improvise and go off the reservation every night, sometimes they miss. The highest highs, and even shows that aren't as good are still pretty good. But its not as consistent as a band like UM or something.
I listened to a complete Spafford show for the first time on a long drive, it was a 6/17/24 show. Really enjoyed, how far back do I have to go to find a “pre accident” show?
Not only go see Spafford but because of their low ticket prices please also buy some merch
It would kill me if like other great bands, they stopped touring
Wasn't able to make it to Baltimore this week, but will be at The Anthem in DC in September. Can't wait. These guys are really dialed in right now. Hopefully Brian feels better soon.
They will be at the Atlantis, not Anthem...unless they're opening for a much bigger band. Just bought Atlantis tickets, I'm excited I've never been to this venue
Saw them last Saturday in Woodstock and it was incendiary. If Brian ends up not making it back, they’re in good hands with Mike.
Car accidents are no joke. I completely understand if he takes himself out of the game for a while.
I talked to Gantzer a couple years ago and he talking about playing with more restraint and man does it show. He's a master and a student and has nothing but respect for Spafford's catalogue.
After seeing them with Mike, I really hope Mike either gets Aqueous going again and starts a new band. Maybe with Gubb of Twiddle and Eli or Dopapod now that they're both free...
i don't see the Aqueous thing happening, you'd think they could do a set at borderlands in their back yard, but they dont and there aren't any rumblings of any gigs
There is some singing but it's done well, rhe bassist has nice chops. But if they play for say, 2.5 hours. 8 minutes of that is singing. The rest is heavy grooves.
10/10 would recommend go see them!
I was completely sober and had a blast.
I also love this band. I didn't think it was boring at all. Literally couldn't stop dancing.
Probably just isn't your thing, and that's fine. Just maybe don't try and bring others down because you didn't enjoy yourself. 🤷♂️
We have been
Jesus, this takes me back to 2016.
And that's without their main guy. Spafford is so good. I hope they get more popular then they are now
It's not like the replaced Brian with an amateur though, Ganzer is easily one of the top guitarist in the scene and has been for years.
I didn’t say anything negative about Ganzer. But nobody Spaffords like Spafford.
Brian is still sick??!??
Unspecified issues from their van accident.
Sounded like some low key PTSD as well. It was a very serious wreck. That can shake you. This was mentioned in their letter to the fans
Oy vey. I hope he heals soon.

Oh, really? I try to avoid socials other than this place, so I know I miss a lot. Would you mind sharing some of what's been said?
Wym? Spafford rips and every jam fan knows it
Hell yeah but some of these venues could be bigger.
Exactly what I meant. They deserve bigger crowds.
They have been wildly inconsistent in all of the times I’ve seen them live. Probably what has held them back.

Before May 29th of this year.

Snagged a shirt for myself and my wife last night. Love supporting talent like this
No one does it better!! Mike filling in for Brian has been fucking seamless!! That just shows you how talented these guys are!!

No you're right my bad
Brian was missed for sure. Mike did a great job filling in. So much chemistry on stage
How was the sound at Bowstring tonight?
Surprisingly good. It's a weird room but they have it dialed in.
Super happy I'll get to catch them at Summerdance and Hulaween.
So bummed the show I could go to was one of the ones that got canceled. Edit: Spelling
I tried but it got cancelled. Really hoping they hit Michigan again
I had tix all four cancelled dates. Definitely keeping my eyes peeled 👀

Spafford and Company
Spafford slaps! Also love your s/n OP lol
I'm drawing a blank, what's s/n?
Haha your screen name
Cannot wait for Dillion!!
Could Uncle Mike join as a permanent member? I would fuck with that
After seeing them with Mike, I really hope Mike either gets Aqueous going again and starts a new band. Maybe with Gubb of Twiddle and Eli or Dopapod now that they're both free...
Mike/Rob/Gubb/Ben Atkind?
Woah
i don't see the Aqueous thing happening, you'd think they could do a set at borderlands in their back yard, but they dont and there aren't any rumblings of any gigs
Yup. Shit was incredible.
Love them
The big red dog
The Asheville show last night was phenomenal
Saw them at cave jam last month and they were unreal! On fire indeed
Crushed it at Northlands
Was a fantastic show! Mike did great playing in Brian’s style and it was so fun watching Jordy lead his band. He was enjoying himself.
They're playing 20 mins from me tomorrow. I've heard of them but not really heard them. Are there a lot of cringey lyrics and vocals?

Exactly the kind of description I was looking for. Thank you!

Spafford? No Uncle Mike? Yes
