Ozric Tentacles are freakin’ sick. Their stuff gets way weird. For the purposes of this sub, i’d consider them jam-adjacent, more straight up psychedelic rock. But ultimately, as always, good music is good music.
I love Ozric Tentacles but they don't jam at all. Last time I saw them at the BB they played Waterfall Cities note for note. I wouldn't call anyone who doesn't even have a note of improvisation jam adjacent. That being said, they are definitely the best at what they do, and I love what they do!!
Fair enough! I’ve never seen them live, but given the nature of their music I assumed they’d jam a little. That said, I’ve always known they aren’t a “jam band” as such.
I saw them at Exit/In in Nashville sometime in the late 2000s. My wife and I ran into one of her customers from work at the show and asked us if we wanted to hang out with them and the band after the show. I ended up smoke a joint with a few of the band members and noticed that their weed was…subpar, I ran out to my car and gave them some better weed for the road.
At one point I asked why they weren’t selling any merch at the show. They told me their merch got stolen out of the van the night before in STL. The guitar player got my address and mailed me a box of tour shirts from the 90s. And that’s how I ended up with a bunch of vintage Ozric Tentacles shirts.
My sister was going to ku and worked at wakarusa. I was only 17 and hadn't been to many shows but looking now the lineups around those years were crazy
Oh yeah, just recommended this band last week to someone looking for instrumental psychedelic jams. Used to play the crap out of the Waterfall Cities and Spirals in Hyperspace albums, great stuff. Probably would be bigger if they weren't strictly an instrumental band, usually puts a cap on popularity.
Saw them at Wetlands in NYC in the late 90s. Star People opened, it was a fucking mental show, open to close
Saw them at Bowery in the 00s, Lotus opened.
Def more psychedelic than jam, but loved every minute of those shows.
I absolutely love these guys and they're one of my last remaining (realistic) bucket list bands, I NEED to see them live. Don't think they make it stateside too often these days. One of a handful of bands that had a real clear influence on The Disco Biscuits, and I think they've opened for them a few times over the years.
Anyone who likes this and does not know about Juno Reactor, consider this a formal invitation to get further into the psychedelic soup coming out of England in the 90's.
I've been listening to them for over 30 years. Many lineup changes, but Ed Wynne has always been there. I saw them live once in the early 2000s. I wish they would do another US tour soon.
Fuck yea man. My hippie friend talks about seeing them at the after shows when dead was touring in the late 80s / early 90s. Their sound is sooooo if and way ahead of their time

I have explained them as Shpongle trying to play late 80's/early 90's thrash. It works so well.
I think of them like the intersection of Shpongle and Umphreys McGee. I don’t pretend that’s an accurate description but thsts where my mind goes.
Lmao that’s perfect

I regret so much not going to that show
Got completely sucked in walking by their set at Wakarusa '08. What a time to be alive.

Yes they are sick
Saw them at my local spot here in Urbana, IL in 2012 for $10. Melted my brain, would die to see them again.

Yes I listen to them daily
I went to college with their bassist. She was a huge fan first.
I've had the privilege of seeing them about a dozen times or so. They are not human and they make music for other non-humans.
Ed’s the man! Strangeitude, Erpland, Technicians of the Sacred are incredible albums!
I saw them one time in Baltimore - it was awesome. I believe the son of a member of Pink Floyd was part of that iteration.
Yep Roger waters son on keys if I’m not mistaken
they are off the chain good. OG jams

Thank you for this, they were never on my radar
Hell yeah. Missed probably my only chance to see them =(
Yep.. saw them in Baltimore around 2006-7

Pistolero!! 🔥
saw them at all good 2007, got really weird..
Yea, tripped balls to them allot in the 90's.
Second. Good times.

I saw them at a jibberjazz fest in 2015
My go-to blast off music lol
They have been around for a long time and are still getting even better. The new drummer is beyond amazing.
Amazing band
10000% under-appreciated group
FUCK YES
Great band. I wish they played more festivals still.
I saw them years ago at a Jibberjazz festival and was obsessed for a minute. Thanks for the reminder!!
Love Ozric.
They’re on the shuffle.
Oh hell yeah. Caught em back in like 2016, 2018 or so? Phenomenal show!
Getting Splooshed ! Welcome to one of your new favs ! Jump in the waters fine ! 😀
Got to see them in a small club about 15 years ago.
I saw them at a Allgood festival. It was sick.
Fuck yea man. My hippie friend talks about seeing them at the after shows when dead was touring in the late 80s / early 90s. Their sound is sooooo if and way ahead of their time
I've seen them a couple times, it was really cool
Give [Pyramidion](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=9hdhM_BYBMQ&si=k91zslDC3n2PT522) a play, my friend. Get the chills every time I hear it.
Great recommendation, thanks
