Such a beautiful song! I was here when it was the theme song for *The 101st Proposal* and I was young and missing my boyfriend 200 km away. "Say yessss 🎶."
Chiisana Koi no Uta by Mongol800
Manatsu no Kajitsu by Southern Allstars
I have a bunch of suggestions for 60s-70s style classic rock if that's anyone's thing.
Anything by Off Course, Yes-Yes-Yes is a good one.
Yoruyo, Akeruna by Masato Tomobe--this is a wonderful song but the original singer is not my favorite. There are some good covers; the one by ban Ban Bazar is particularly good.
Ano subarashii ai wo moichido by Kazuhiko Kato and Osamu Kitayama
Hanayome by Norihiko Hashida and Climax
It's from the 50s but Kaimono Boogie by Shizuko Kasagi slaps.
Heard a song on the radio once - 今夜がトロピカル by Asuka Ando. It was only a few days later that I decided to try and find out what the song was by looking through all the songs played that day on the website, only roughly knowing what time it would have been, but I eventually found it. Has a chill Caribbean vibe
Edit: sorry, not a song any of my friends told me about
Back when I lived on a remote island here in Kagoshima, the islanders would always sing some Mongol800 at our drinking parties and now they're one of my favorite bands.
Not put on by my friends but I たまたま found these people. Chihana Onishi and Tomioka Ai are dope af. To match the post at least, "I get no blues on Monday" by Chihana Onishi and "I wanna" by Tomioka Ai are bangers. Also "rush"by Riri
Miracle Shopping Don Quijote
Linda Linda
The Blue Hearts are just fantastic! Train, train!
Absolutely love The Blue Hearts, but I am kind of different in that my favorite song by them is Chain Gang, which was sung by Mashima Masatoshi.
Say Yes by Chage and Aska is a bona fide karaoke classic.

Lately I am listening to Vaundy's songs especially Time Paradox and Omokage (Vaundy's ver.)
島のうた Shima no Uta, an Okinawan classic. My fav version is by the Boom, but the one they have in Karaoke is normally by Begin.

Toki no nagare ni mi wo makase (時の流れに身をまかせ) by Teresa Teng is lovely and easy to sing.
Takarajima. No lyrics but it’s a great song played by brass bands.
Do you know the artist? The only one I know is by Sakanaction and it has lyrics
I found this: https://hibike-euphonium.fandom.com/wiki/Takarajima
Face by Globe. A classic.
