That's a good call. OP if you're not entirely savvy with working on trim pieces, you can take it to a local mechanic just to have him pop off the shifter trim and check if it's become unplugged.
Yeah you could even see the auto start button isn't lit up either. They should both be lit up white if they're not enabled with the headlights on. Should be easy to snap off the panel and check the connection.
Does your auto start\\stop disable button that's right above it work? If not I bet they messed with that button cluster, those two come out as a pair if you lift up the shifter trim. They also use the same connector. Once the shifter boot\\trim is up, you can put your fingers in there and they pull straight up.
It lights up when activated. Sometimes the button gets stuck try pressing a little hard or jiggle it side to side. If it doesn't work then probably it's disconnected or something wrong with it.
C'mon someone has seen this before... VW is weird, there has to be a truck to it. I've had my '21 for a month or two and still don't know how to do so things haha IDK
If you just bought that, go right back to the Man who sold it to you. You shouldn't be there with the manual out on Reddit trying to figure it out, that's they're job at this point so close to having taken the car.
I'm taking it back tomorrow to see what they have to say. I want to keep the car, I'm hoping it's what everyone else is saying, that's it's just a loose connection, but regardless I'm going to see what the dealership says. I love the car, she's a beaut. But I still want everything to run right.
Maybe the button is disconnected.its supposed to light up when pressed

And the shifter trim is super easy to pull out btw

Did you try pressing while not in park?
Yes

Also, funny you noticed the manual was out 🤣
Don't
Eco mode is not worth it though. It only improved my mileage by about 1-2 mpg but car wasn't as fun to drive
Well I mean I just bought the car today. So I want everything to work correctly.. lol
Take it back to where you bought it from.
I would say take it back to the dealer and ask them to look into it and try to negotiate so it’s free
I hear ya. Loose connection makes the most sense
I average 40 mpg in ecomode on my 27mile commute.
I avg 45 in eco mode but my commute is mostly straight road through farms
I average about 30-35 in my 2015. But I also drive more free spirited compared to most. And I’m sitting at 160K miles now.
That's the way to do it.
