I wonder if this is by design? Similar to how windows will pause while starting the car? But surely there has to be a fuse that has constant power even with the engine off.. I haven't really seen anything concrete for which fuses should be used for this (maybe VWvortex has some info?). But I did see u/clubpenguinsa shared this link [https://fuseandrelay.com/volkswagen/jetta-7g.html](https://fuseandrelay.com/volkswagen/jetta-7g.html) on this post from 4 years ago: [https://www.reddit.com/r/jetta/comments/ibephh/fuse\_locations\_for\_a\_vw\_2019\_jetta/](https://www.reddit.com/r/jetta/comments/ibephh/fuse_locations_for_a_vw_2019_jetta/) ...Not that it's helpful but if you're more mechanically oriented than me maybe you can identify a better fuse to use. Good luck and please let us know for future people searching for the same information (lots of questions here, not many answers).

I appreciate your response, I've come across your links while doing the initial setup. I resorted to using a multi meter and finding a constant power and an only powered while on fuse slot. I unfortunately can't use the cigarette lighter fuse as the piggy back cable supplied only supports the smaller fuse bodies. >But surely there has to be a fuse that has constant power even with the engine off.. Theres quite a few actually (top half of the fuse box). I am using one which is why sometimes it will stay active for a few days with no interruptions with start or stop.

So I figured out this problem when I was installing my hardwired dash cam. Without opening any of the doors, if you turn your car off and take your key out of the ignition, can you still wind the windows up and down? If so, then your power window fuse is a good one to use for the one line that requires constant power. edit: I just used the dome light fuse for the other cable that requires an accessory (key in ignition) fuse. I think it ended up being a 10amp when the camera said it preferred 15amp, but it runs fine. In order to do it right, I bought a 10ish dollar kit with a few sets of both size piggyback extenders (sm and lg just so I'd have them) and they came with like literally 150 fuses of all different sizes and amperages. I can take a pic of my setup tomorrow when I have my car back. I literally have had it this way for over 2 years now and had zero electrical/overheating/etc problems. edit again: I don't know exactly which cam you got, but the reason it needs one in a constant power line and one in a accessory power line is so that the camera knows when your car is running or when it's in park so your camera can most likely go into like sentry or parking mode. I feel like if you were to mix them up or have them both in accessory lines or have them both in constant power lines it would confuse the camera and that might be why you're having problems also.

My camera doesn't seem to switch between parking monitoring and normal monitoring so that could be a thing. Although I think I have to manually switch it by whatever the translated instructions appear to tell me

I have a '19 Jetta SEL. The link I shared (that you posted) helped me at least identify fuses that I could tap into. (It gave me a very small baseline lol) I verified constant and accessory via my multimeter. My constant is the starter fuse and my accessory is the 12v. Have had zero issues. Honestly the shittiest part was running the cable thru the pillars and all that. I have a Viofo cam.

Thanks for sharing the link :)

Ofc <3 It took a lot of angry typing and searching to find anything decent. Have a good one bro! :)

In my mk6.5 I had to piggy back off a fuse that was already in use, which would stay on the whole time. Can't remember which I used.

Probably the big yellow 20amp cigarette lighter fuse I imagine. The piggyback cable they supplied me can go in that slot however I can't use the original body size fuse with the supplied piggyback cable. I don't want to stick a smaller body 20amp fuse in there as that supposedly would take less voltage? Therefore a risk of fire potential.

Appreciate it, I'll try that configuration next. I'm not sure I can use F40 though. The cable I was supplied with has an adapter to sit in the larger fuse slots but I cannot use a large fuse in the cable itself. Using a smaller 20amp fuse in the piggyback cable would not be recommended would it?

Yeah I'll be honest I couldn't figure out a fuse that would stay on constantly so I would recommend getting an external battery for your dash cam and just have it charge while you're driving. That's what I have on my 2023 Jetta as my friend who has a 2019 Jetta and I hardwired their dash cam, it did the same thing as yours.
