Leaving jewelry on creates a non-zero chance of damage. Most things that are skin-safe are metal safe but a few specific ones that *aren't* come to mind: mineral sunscreen, chlorinated water, etc. If you want nice things to last, treat them well. If less effort is worth the non-zero chance of damage your jewelry, then leave it on.

If it’s gold yes you can keep it on. If it’s gold over silver might not

Always always always best to take jewelry off when showering, swimming, sleeping, etc. If the clasp is that bad, maybe take to a jeweler and have them change it to an easier one for you?

I have broken jewelry sleeping in it.

No one can tell you based on looking at this photo. You need to figure out what kind of metal it is and whether it's solid or plated. It looks like it might be 14k yellow gold (yellow gold varies in color depending on the karat, more yellow vs. less so), so look for a "14K" stamp somewhere on the pendant or chain clasp. If you see that or another \_\_K number, then you're good to wear it all the time. If it's plated, then it won't be stamped, and then you will need to remove it in the shower because plating wears off. Some jewelers use a number stamp vs. \_\_K stamp, so if you see a 585, that also means 14K gold.

Is the clasp really that bad that you would rather leave it on 24/7? I can’t imagine sleeping with a pendant that big around my neck. If it’s solid gold than yes you can shower and swim with it and will be fine. Might cause some minor wear over time.

If you want to live in dead skin cells, fungus, viral particles and both living and dead bacterial colonies 24/7, sure you can. Or you could take your jewelry off like you do your clothes, and clean it every day, just like you should take off and clean anything worn against the skin ;)

Not enough information. Would need to know the material at the very least. Though I would ALWAYS take it off before sleeping. Both for your sake and your jewelry's sake.
