Yes, look at it as your time is valuable. In what you could pay for assistance of someone cleaning your house or part of the house, how much could you bring in working on something else? If you pay $35 an hour to someone but could be making $80 an hour then you’re netting $45 rather than losing $80.
I pay per clean vs. per hour. $140/clean for a 2 bed, 2 bath house in BKS. The individual I use usually brings 2-3 total people and it usually takes them about 2 hours. I do tip on top of that.
I only got a tip once…couldn’t figure out why until I found the dead mouse with live maggots on the carpet in the hallway. I don’t have that customer anymore. I love the ones I work for now and they are very generous with holiday bonuses.
Same. Mine charges $160/clean for a 4 bed, 3 bath, 1 half bath, in Lenexa. Also brings 2-3 people to help plus tip on top. 2-3 hours depending on many come.
That seems like a lot for that size house unless they are deep cleaning every time or doing other things like dishes, changing sheets, etc. I pay this per clean for 4 bd/4.5 bath (we don’t have them clean our 5th bd because it’s never used).
I pay my cleaner 200 bucks a month for 2 cleans. She usually spends about 2.5 hours per cleaning by herself. I tip 20% of my yearly cleaning spend at Xmas, and an occasional tip if I ask her to do something additional.
Edited to add 3 beds/2 bath 1100 square foot home.
I have a 1 bed 1 bath, 875 foot condo. I pay my lady $80 every other week, and she comes with an assistant. It takes them about an hour to clean, for reference.
Pay for housecleaning to a certain standard not by hour, sometimes 1 or 2 cleaners show up. 2100 sq ft, $175 every month or so with $175 Xmas bonus. Each session is usually 4 hours.
Because I want to find a cleaner and I don't know what areas people are in so I thought I'd get a few? I had a baby last year and I'm getting ready to start working again... And I'm out in West KCK and I assume people don't travel an hour for a clean. Not sure why that's so suspicious?
I think we pay around 250 bucks for a maintenance clean 2x a month, and two people are here for about 4 hours. So 8 total manhours. Works out to around 31/hour/person.
I know the first time they came it was like 400 bucks, but they were here for at least 4 hours, and it was 3 people. They were scrubbing the baseboards and tops of ceiling fans for the initial deep clean.
This is through an agency, so I'm sure they're making less after the business takes their cut.
We pay $120 every two weeks. It’s usually takes her about 2-2.5 hours. 4 bed 3 bath house. A little over 2000 sq ft.
We are looking for someone new though because she has a lot of trouble showing up. We are up north by Liberty. If anyone has any recommendations please send them my way.
Oh God, haha, no. Honestly, we're probably going to start paying her a bit more because I think she is undervaluing herself. Especially after seeing some of the rates in this thread
No. I usually have everything picked up and put away so my cleaner can deep clean. Baseboards, windows, etc. On the weeks she isn’t here, I do a basic clean myself.
Some people do make their cleaners put their stuff away, change their sheets, etc. but I want to have them do the stuff I don’t want to do regularly instead. I can put my own stuff away 🤷🏼♀️
No, I usually tidy up before she comes which entails making sure the surfaces are free from random shit. My cleaner puts all my kids items nice and neat in their respective areas, changes our bed sheets, will load our dishwasher if we have items in the sink and start it, and organize our kitchen/bath counter items. Obviously she cleans the shit out of our floors and surfaces too, plus we exchange small gifts on holidays. This person even remembered my daughter's birthday and gave her a small gift. Shit, her husband also redid a couple houses worth of hardwood floors for me and it was top notch.
We pay $190 per clean, every two weeks. It’s normally 2-4 cleaners, and takes 1-2 hours depending on the week. We don’t have them clean the upstairs, which is just bedrooms and bathrooms), but they still clean two large levels. We paid more for the initial deep clean, but can’t remember how much.
About? Thank you I needed a morning snort and giggle. Does this mean you fluctuate prices (perhaps it’s different if they/ you use their own supplies), $39.50, work on trades, don’t care to share the actual price, your unsure? Sorry the mystery of “about” is killing me!
Lol the breakout is $190 a month for 2 cleans at 2.5 hours. So officially $38 an hour - but we will provide tips here and there plus a Christmas bonus that brings it all in to ABOUT $40 an hour.
I don't know about having someone clean, but from the cleaners perspective it's not weird if you're not making it weird. Most of my people have gotten used to it and the routine, they'll generally be packed up and moved out of whatever area they are in and move to another area or the clean area until I'm finished. They love knowing they don't have to do those things more than feeling weird about it.
$200 for 2 hours of work for 2 people
So...$50/hour I guess?
They only come once per month, vaccuum and mop the floors in the entire house + clean the kitchen and all the bathrooms. Thats about it. We don't have them do dishes, laundry, or anything like that.
My cleaners usually come for 4 hours.. two ladies. It used to be 120, then I would tip like 50 bucks. Now it’s 200, 4 years later and I tip about 40 bucks. So essentially 240/8 because two girls they each make 30 bucks an hour.
We are in Kansas City. We pay 200.00 for a 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom house, two floors. It's two women who have been cleaning for us for 30 years. I gift them regularly. I used to be a house cleaner, I charged 40.00 an hour.( so, that came out to be about the same ).
We pay per clean - not sure how that translates to per hour wages. We pay just under $300/month for a three-level, 4 bed/3.5 bath house. Takes roughly 3-4 hours depending on many cleaners are dispatched, three versus two.
I have an 80 year old townhouse, no basement, 3 BR 1 BA. My cleaning crew comes once a month and charges $120. Usually takes them about an hour. There are usually two of them.
I'm not paying someone 200 every 2 weeks to do something that takes me 45ish minutes a week to do.
People can spend whatever they want but I choose not to due to my ocd about cleanliness and I'd rather not spend the money.
I pay my lady $35 an hour. She does 4 hours every week. I would donate organs for this woman if needed.
I need this lady’s info!
Fr! Hook it up OP!
That’s pretty cheap. I yet to reach house cleaner status, but I know my mom pays like $70/hr
Jfc.
Pretty dirty. She does dishes, laundry and it’s a big ole house so deep cleans different parts as needed.
So she's not just cleaning but a full maid service.
We're pretty similar, have two small kids and a dog.
Do clean anything in-between the visits?
I pay myself one iced latte and a baked treat for cleaning my own house.
Seems a fair toll. I do a latte and nice playlist…then about half way through I up the payment to wine.
This is the way 🍷
That’s pricey
I'm worth it though.
Gonna also be me here in a few hours.
I pay myself in pride and satisfaction lol
This thread is bringing me joy because it's telling me that I can afford to have someone come by to clean my house every so often!
YES, and it makes such a huge difference! You can also just hire people to clean part of the house to take some of the load off you.
They will charge a deep clean fee the first time.

Dude... Fuckin do it. It changed my marriage for the better.

With 2 people, that's basically $35/hr.
What is BKS?
Brookside
Me too! She charged $250 for the first deep clean and then $140 for each monthly clean after that.
Same. Mine charges $160/clean for a 4 bed, 3 bath, 1 half bath, in Lenexa. Also brings 2-3 people to help plus tip on top. 2-3 hours depending on many come.

That’s really low. Are you using a maid service? They’re like Slave labor.. I wouldn’t use them. Cleaning is HARD work with no benefits.
I use an individual not a company.
Would you PM me your cleaners info? I'm going back to work this month and our house is going to suffer lol
Dang, can I get your cleaners info?
Same! Lol
I took would like the contact for your cleaner!
Would also like your cleaners information!
Could you please provide your cleaners info?
When I asked previously, she said she wasn't taking new clients.
I have a 1 bed 1 bath, 875 foot condo. I pay my lady $80 every other week, and she comes with an assistant. It takes them about an hour to clean, for reference.
Do you mind sharing her info in a DM?
Pay for housecleaning to a certain standard not by hour, sometimes 1 or 2 cleaners show up. 2100 sq ft, $175 every month or so with $175 Xmas bonus. Each session is usually 4 hours.
This. $250 every 4weeks to Tidy Up Angels. Between 3 and 5 women show up and clean my 3600sqft house in usually right around 2 hours.
I'd be interested in their info if you'd be willing to PM it to me!
What’s your game? why are you asking for cleaners info on every response to this post?
Because I want to find a cleaner and I don't know what areas people are in so I thought I'd get a few? I had a baby last year and I'm getting ready to start working again... And I'm out in West KCK and I assume people don't travel an hour for a clean. Not sure why that's so suspicious?

What business?
The cleaning business, vs what the cleaning maids get.
Sorry I was asking what company you use.
We pay $24/hr cash direct to the cleaner (not a service). 2x month, 5 hrs per clean. Lee's Summit
Would you mind direct messaging me their info? In lees summit looking for a good, trustworthy cleaner
Same! Been looking for someone reliable that isn’t one of the outrageously expensive companies in LS. Any information you have would be amazing.
Somehow I missed that it was $24 an hour and I thought you meant $24 for one 5-hour session. I was horrified
Oh God, haha, no. Honestly, we're probably going to start paying her a bit more because I think she is undervaluing herself. Especially after seeing some of the rates in this thread
What do these cleaners clean? Do people leave all their dishes and laundry sitting around for a month until their cleaner arrives?
No. I usually have everything picked up and put away so my cleaner can deep clean. Baseboards, windows, etc. On the weeks she isn’t here, I do a basic clean myself.
Interesting. I could definitely use a deep clean like that
Some people do make their cleaners put their stuff away, change their sheets, etc. but I want to have them do the stuff I don’t want to do regularly instead. I can put my own stuff away 🤷🏼♀️
Right there with you, except my cleaner said she changes sheets so I just left them out 🤷
No, I usually tidy up before she comes which entails making sure the surfaces are free from random shit. Is this through a business?
No, just a house cleaner my neighbor introduced me to
I charge 35/hr
We pay $80 every 2 weeks for a 3 bedroom
Can I get your cleaners info in a DM?
Once a month, 2 br 1 bath apartment, incredible job every time. $130 worth every penny, her squad is incredible. Leylani cleaning services
They’re here for about 2.5 hours and I pay $130 with a $20 tip twice a month.
This is a 3 bedroom 1.5 bathroom with finished basement townhome
Mind sending me their info?
About $40 an hour
About? Thank you I needed a morning snort and giggle. Does this mean you fluctuate prices (perhaps it’s different if they/ you use their own supplies), $39.50, work on trades, don’t care to share the actual price, your unsure? Sorry the mystery of “about” is killing me!

Thank you so much for your reply!!!
$25 for five hours = $150 per weekly clean
I pay $120 per clean. 3 br, 2.5 bath. One bedroom never used.
$200 every 2 weeks, 5 bedroom house / 4,000 sq feet. I think they spend about 4 or 5 hours each time.
When I had a lady....she was $100. She was at my house about 2.5 hours
Is it weird if I hired a cleaner while I sat around in my house doing nothing? I feel like it'd be weird.
I don't know about having someone clean, but from the cleaners perspective it's not weird if you're not making it weird. Well this thread makes me feel much better about what I charge, thank you!
I charge $55-$65/hr
$200 for 2 hours of work for 2 people So...$50/hour I guess? They only come once per month, vaccuum and mop the floors in the entire house + clean the kitchen and all the bathrooms. Thats about it. We don't have them do dishes, laundry, or anything like that.
I had a 900 sq ft apartment that got professionally cleaned for $200. Oven, fridge, fixtures, every wall, etc. plus carpets stream cleaned.
Would you PM me their info?
$120 flat. 4 works come and knock it out in an hour. Twice a month. 1500 sq ft. 2 cats.
Generally I get one pot of coffee and two joints as staggered rewards as I clean. Is this not what everyone gets?
$500 per clean but it’s a 8500 square ft, 7Br/9Ba house. Takes her about 9 hours.
$200 every 2 weeks- ~3,000 sq ft house. Usually 3 ladies, <2 hours including changing 4 sets of sheets.
My cleaners usually come for 4 hours.. two ladies. It used to be 120, then I would tip like 50 bucks. Now it’s 200, 4 years later and I tip about 40 bucks. So essentially 240/8 because two girls they each make 30 bucks an hour.
I pay $150 and it’s usually about 6 person-hours that they are here. (2-4 cleaners depending on the week)
$150 per clean is avg.
Just moved to Waldo. Seriously looking for someone. 3 bd 1 ba. Taking notes on recommendations and do feel free to DM me your people, please n thanks!
We pay per clean - not sure how that translates to per hour wages. We pay just under $300/month for a three-level, 4 bed/3.5 bath house. Takes roughly 3-4 hours depending on many cleaners are dispatched, three versus two.
We pay $200 for about 8 hours, there’s two of them, so it’s 4 hours each. We have a dog and work from home in a 3x3
$180 every 2 weeks for a 1bd 1bath 8sq ft w 2 cats. Direct to the cleaner so no tip except the major holidays.
115.00 every two weeks. It usually takes around two hours sometimes a bit longer. 3bd 1500ft ranch.
$90/clean. Only takes a few hours though
I have an 80 year old townhouse, no basement, 3 BR 1 BA. My cleaning crew comes once a month and charges $120. Usually takes them about an hour. There are usually two of them.

If I cleaned my own house I'd lose money through the opportunity cost of not working my own job

I'm happy you've found something that works for you
Sure, if your time has no value.
