I think that if you were running Windows on the machine, your KDE Plasma installation should run just fine

kritomas

Yes, that should be good. And if it can run windows, it can run KDE

What about GPU ?

kritomas

Should be good. IIRC Iris Xe is integrated graphics, and your CPU sounds good.

mystica5555

KDE has worked on far lesser intel graphics than an Iris Xe-series. I remember my Macbook 2,1, 'late 2006' model. GMA-950 Worked absolutely fine for KDE/Compiz at the time. Also have used an i3-3217u with Intel HD4000 graphics. Still worked fine for KDE. Am using an I5-1235U now, and it works like a charm.

alanjon20

Should be good. I run it on a 8th gen intel (XPS13, 8 GB ram) and it's fine.

Pale-Bodybuilder-713

I have exactly same specs, plasma runs smoothly. but you might need some zram if you are heavy multitasker

Bronek0990

I have the very same GPU on my work laptop and a similar 11th gen i5 and KDE runs like a charm, I have yet to see a single animation stutter.

How long does the battery last in your case ?

Bronek0990

Can't say, tbh, because the battery usage is dominated by the software I'm running. I can easily get 8-10+ hours of light usage without Firefox running, but YMMV depending on the specific laptop and usage.

jafnet

what? I have a 4th gen mobile CPU 4710HQ 8GB RAM and have no problems with plasma, you can even go lower
