Yea it’s not brittle, well at least the batch of stuff I got. It is probably my favourite to work with but hard to put it into words. It just works well and doesn’t take a huge amount of effort. Feels great when it’s done too. Definitely encourage you to give it a go, just not on a knife that will be abused. That’s why I went with the exposed tang setup for this to save any knocks.
Yeah I would definitely put it on more of a show piece. I love the look of ebony but it's so hard and oily that I hate working with it. Bog oak is similar but much better looking IMO, definitely gonna try it now since you like it enough to recommend it.
Yeh you nailed it. Very similar in look to ebony but a lot less dense and way easier/nicer to work with. I also agree that the bog oak looks better. It has such a nice soft looking finish that is really hard to go past. I will definitely be using more, even just as a small accent piece. I just love looking at it and thinking about how old it is. This stuff has been carbon dated and confirmed to be more than 3,500 years old 🤯
That's also another layer of awesome the bog oak has. It's age and the fact that it isn't just dust is amazing. Glad I asked cause I'm gonna source some for sure.

Thanks, it is a really nice Kydex to work with. Can be tricky with the suede lining but it worked out ok and I am looking forward to using it more.
