I think Face the Sun(the album) by Seventeen was really a gem. I decided to listen to the whole album a few weeks ago and I think all the songs are just amazing
Though FML and Heng;gerae are my favorite albums, I agree FTS is their magnum opus.
Because it's a full length album that just truly feels so cohesive and every single song has had its moment in the fandom. From Ash to Shadow to Don Quixote to HOT to March, etc.
As a BTS fan, I saw this question, I genuinely can't decide. There is so many masterpiece albums by them, there will never one true answer. So I will go with the songs.
Spring Day, I will say will be a true Magnum Opus by BTS
As another BTS fan, I 100% agree with you.
As for album, I think either The HYYH Trilogy (personal fav is pt. 2) or **You Never Walk Alone** has a huge case of being considered as their magnum opusš¤š»
Yes on HYYH trilogy or You never walk alone,
also there is Love Yourself, Wings or MOTS or BE. Choosing one masterpiece album will always be a struggle with BTS.
Even in solo releases I can't choose, Namjoon alone puts out Mono, Indigo and RPWP, expects me to choose? No way. Let alone, other members!
I think you could put MOTS:7 up as well as a more recent pick.
But the easiest thing would be to point to their anthology as it showcases so many of their perfect songs and perfect eras.
I mean how can you choose from spring day, blood, sweat & tears, hyyh era, mots:7, dynamite, etc etc. Their touchstone moments are so massive and revered itās hard to narrow it down to one haha
True I would go with Proof as well which is kind of cheating lol. They have so many crowning moments that it is difficult to pinpoint a single album and it's impact
For albums (IMO) it's a tie between *Love Yourself č½ 'Tear'* and *Map of the Soul: 7* and *Black Swan* is an absolute masterpiece, especially in the instruments used.
fr kind of a quieter album and previously I trust was more successful (RIP Lie ver. š) but there was no hit or miss mentality with the songs on I burn. thematically they sound similar but theyāre still very diverse, and the b-sides were of really good quality.
Shineeās The Misconceptions of Us.
Shineeās discography is massive, diverse, and absolutely epic all the way through but nothing touches the misconceptions of us. Honestly itās not even a fair comparison given itās really two albums in one. Itās a top to bottom masterpiece and just to cement their legacy (as if they needed to by that point) they dropped the iconic everybody mini album few months later.
Theyāre industry legends for a reason and this is one of many reasons why.
For IVE, I personally think IāVE IVE was their magnum opus. In terms of musicality, this album remains at the top. I Am is still my favourite song from them (and in K-pop tbh) and itās a really cohesive album overall. I also noticed that starting from IāVE IVE era, theyāve become more confident, especially when theyāre singing I Am live, which really stands out after the massive hate train they received since debut.
ZB1 is pretty new so I think itās too early to find their magnum opus, and I agree with the other Redditor about Face the Sun being SVTās magnum opus.
I feel like most of Red Velvetās albums could be referred to as their āmagnum opusā- many people hold their discography up to such a high standard.
Iād say that for full albums, most would probably give the edge to Perfect Velvet, and Iād most likely agree (I Just is my favorite song from them), but The Red and Chill Kill are also brilliant.
Minis, I think most would go for Feel My Rhythm for the concept (springy, classical-inspired music) and the execution. RBBās my favorite of the minis, though.
For individual songs, Iād go for Psycho or Kingdom Come. Not my personal favorites overall, but I feel like those are seen as grandiose, brilliant pieces of art.
Psycho was my first ever Red Velvet Song. It's so good. Though now, my personal favourite is Bad Boyš . Great opinion though, Red Velvet definitely have a great discography.
itās kind of impossible for me to pick tbh. idk about magnum opus but dumb dumb is one of the songs of a few that got me into kpop and itās probably one of my all time favorite pop songs til this day. the choreo is also super satisfying
100% agree. Though, When I think about it, Still Alive has 4 of their absolute best singles. So it might have a chance. MADE is definitely the winner though.
Personally, one song comes to mind when I think of āa K-Pop groupās masterpieceā: [Oh My Girlās āCloserā](https://youtu.be/isUudT58Xfk?si=AyBENPfJdquXReid). I confess, I āslept onā that group for years afterwards hoping their new song would be another āCloserā and being disappointed, only to realize that their songs didnāt *have* to be another āCloserā for them to be really solid and enjoyable.
For BTS it's so hard their discography is flawless... for a song I would go with:
Spring day or Fake love
For albums... oh god I like them all but if I have to choose one it would be Love yourself tear or Dark and wild.
Also the cyphers have a fandom of their own because they are amazing so I put them as Magnum opus too.
Dark & Wild is so underrated šš. I was so surprised, When I first listened to it. A lot of songs went directly into my playlist. It's really underrated for how good it really is.
NCT 127: My fave discography in all of KPop, so I have Bias goggles on haha. I think most ppl would say Neo Zone. But I also think LIMITLESS (esp the song) is a strong contenderĀ
Iām less in-tune w fandom preferences for the other units, but for DREAM, Hello Future and WayV, Take Over The Moon for Love Talk. I love WISH but theyāre too baby for a Magnum Opus :)Ā
TBZ: REVEAL, definitely
Itās too early to know for ZB1 and TWS, my 5th Gen faves, but I think ZB1ās will end up being In Bloom if WK1 doesnāt improve musically :(. I think TWS has room to grow in this regard, but in terms of impact, I donāt know that plot twist can be beat either~
Oh my favourite NCT 127 song is Highway to Heavenš . I really love that song (both Korean and English Version).
I think The 7th Sense by NCT U is definitely a magnum opus level song not just for them but in entire K-pop too.
Criminal Love for Enhypen. Objectively their best, most complete song, with raps, bridge, full melodious chorus, the works. Even the choreo is stellar.
A pity it was barely promoted
lets do my whole stan list hehe
loona - X X
le sserafim - antifragile
red velvet - the perfect red velvet ( ? )
stray kids - maniac
aespa - savage
fromis - midnight guest
kiss of life - midas touch
itzy - itz different
triples - assemble + assemble24
ive - ive ive
xx is awesome and Butterfly is my favorite tt but I still say [12:00] cause I like more songs on it, partially because itās a bit lengthier. xx sounds the most like Loona though and I liked the concept more. of course opinions but itās kind of objectively a better album to represent Loona.
For Kingdom, I'd probably go with "History of Kingdom Part V: Louis". In my opinion, if you listen to their previous four albums they don't sound very, I guess, idol-like? Like in terms of sound they're trying to go for something more fantastical and theatre-like. Like they wanna make something loud and big, literally saw the word "king" and thought of grand things and rolled with it.
Now look, I understand they did all that for their lore and I still love those albums. But I could see why some won't feel the same way.
But when their 5th album dropped, specifically the teaser for its title track "Long Live the King", it sounds kinda disco imo. And when I listened to it, it sounds more like an idol song, for lack of a better word.
I still love every song and album Kingdom released, but I couldn't help but think that they saw the criticism of their first four albums being "loud" and "grandiose" and decided to address that by releasing their 5th album and LLTK. Like they found their idol sound with those.
For VIXX, I'd say "On and On" because that's what really kickstarted their career further and earned the title of "Concept Kings". I also love the song tooš. Same thing applies with Stray Kids when they released "God's Menu".
For TXT, I would say "0X1= LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)". Simply because of the emotions and nostalgia that was conveyed in both the MV, lyrics, and sound. There's just something so tear-jerking about it. I wasn't on Twitter when it was released, but I couldn't help but think about how MOAs when it was released. This song is honestly TXT's magnum opus due to the emotions I felt after listening and watching it.
For ATEEZ, their magnum opus to me is their "The World" album trilogy. The flavor, the experimentation, the overall slayage of the concept and lore is just breathtakingly good.
I have loved all of their albums that they have released to date but The World album series were truly on another level.
oof fr tho! out of all their studio albums, Go Live is truly their best work
when it comes to eps tho, im so tornnnāi love both the i am series and cle series bc they're so well-thought out! (i honestly missed this era of them huhu)
For SNSD itās a tough call between Into the New World and Genie.
For ITNW, itās the fact that it shows off everything that they have to offer. Every member gets their moment in the spotlight. It has the choreo. It has the vocals. Hyoās dance break. Taeyeonās high note. That entire final chorus with the key change, harmonies, ad libs, and the kick.
For Genie, it just feels like pop perfection over all. The way the first verse starts out, Taeyeonās low vocals almost put you in a trance. And then it just comes to life with that chorus. Throw in the kick choreo and the military outfits and I am in a trance. Then it goes quiet, and thenā¦
āDJ, put it back on!ā
Bursts right back to life right there.
ITNW is my favorite song of theirs, but Genie is the Kpoppiest.
I think for btob it's pretty clearly "Brother Act" It's generally regarded as their best work, the album flows extremely well, the title track "Missing You" is their most successful song very deserved it's a masterpiece. I honestly think it's a classic album even though it's 7 years old it doesn't sound outdated at all.
ATEEZ: Inception. The song is a fever dream, I have yet to listen to another K-pop song that makes me feel the way Inception does. In general they have incredible discography, but Inception is in a league of its own for me.
aespa - Lucid Dream, even the girls say it's their best song.
Red Velvet - I am tempted to say Psycho because of how massive it was, but I'm gonna go and say Feel My Rhythm. Psycho was massive, yes. But it took me a few more times before I got hooked. Feel My Rhythm for me is just perfect.
Thankyou for your opinions
My ults are BTS
I think their Mangum Opus Song is definitely Spring Day. It's just a beautiful and timeless song that even no K-pop fans will enjoy.
For Albums, it's difficult
My personal favourite Album is The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt. 2. Like there is literally no miss in this EP. All songs are bangers. Plus, at least 4-5 songs out of 8 of them can be considered as 9+/10. Its **"All Killer No Filler"**. Plus the Concept of youth and the beautiful Cover art gives it an edge over other BTS projects for me. Though, I am sure, it's definitely not everyone's favouriteš .
Honourable Mentions: You Never Walk Alone(I consider the repackage as the Definitive Version of Wings), HYYH: Young Forever, HYYH pt. 1 and Love Yourself: Tear.
Twice for EP i think itās āBetween 1 & 2ā allmost all songs in that ep are 10/10
Twice song itās Cry for Me
Itzy EP - Cheshire
Itzy Song - Bet on Me
Ateez - Answer - easily one of the best kpop songs of all time
NCT U - Without You - No one talks about this but this is just sublime
NCT Dream - My First and Last or Hello Future, not sure rn
WAYV - Moonwalk/Turn Back Time
Enhypen - this is hard for me but maybe Given-Taken, album wise, Dark Blood
Taeyeon - Time Lapse- really not talked about enough, special shoutout to U R
Everglow - LA DI DA or First
TXT - weird choice but Nap of the Star. Early TXT was just magically both literally and figuratively and this ballad basically encapsulates it. Title track wise, it's Love song.
Riiize - really early for them but so far Impossible. But they've been releasing hit after hit.
BTOB:
Album:Brother Act (labeled as Masterpiece by Melon)
Song: The title track Missing You composed by the member (Hyunsik); is the queen of the group. One of the longest song charted in Melon.
The Dream Chapter: Magic by Tomorrow X Together. Nobody can change my mind.
And yes, I know TNC Temptation, M1 Blue Hour, TCC Freeze, etc. exist. BUT YOU WILL NOT CHANGE MY MIND.
TDC Magic is an underrated Magnum Opus!!!!!!!!
imo for KAI, his magnum opus isn't just any song, it's his series of Film:KAI. they're an algamation of everything he does well: performance, fashion, style and music. people legit look forward to them as much as the album drop. haven't seen anything else like them in kpop
Kai is like the perfect definition of an Idol. Exceptional performer, Great Dancer, Nice Vocals and Rap (if needed). His fashion and style are fantastic. Also His First EP was probably one of the best mini album and debut project in K-pop.
(G)I-DLE: I Never Die. Many would argue that it should be I Burn but IND is a treasure box loaded with many top tier album tracks that have immense replay value and none really aged for me imo. Still my go-to album from them even after they released 4 more projects
aespa: Savage, I was blown away by how great the title track is at first, but when I keep diving into the EP all the subsequent tracks sound better and better. The songs compositions might be experimental and unorthodox, but they are also the type of songs where only aespa can nail them, which in turns carry out their identity and spicy personas
And if I choose proof by bts ( it's an Anthology album) lol
But tbh bts hv many works that can be their magnum opus , right now I'll just go with Love Yourself series & Hyyh trilogy
And for songs Spring day, black Swan, blood sweat & tears, I need you
With the depth of BTSās discography itās very hard to narrow it down but hereās my take:
Album - MOTS7 - apart from the last song (iykyk) the album is a no skip, full of amazing songs.
Single - [Run BTS](https://youtu.be/aqW4xXUgmno?si=AiDakXFWlSqBV_O5) (there are countless others that come to mind but this was the first one) - and yea, totally biased but the dance practice video is š„
**For BTS:**
Song: Dionysus or First Love
Mini-Album: HYYH pt. 2
Studio album: LY: Tear
**For ATEEZ:**
Song: INCEPTION
Album: The World EP.1: Movement
**For Jonghyun:**
Song: Diphylleia grayi
Album: The Story Op. 2
For BTS,
Song: Interstingš¤
EP: 100% agree
Album: Agree, though Wings is a close competitor
Sorry, I don't know much about Ateez yet
As for Jonghyun, that's generally regarded as his best song and albumš¤š»
Twice:
Song: Feel Special or Talk That Talk
Album: With YOUth
Loona:
Song: Hula Hoop (group) / Strawberry Rush (post-BBC)
Album: XX
Fifty Fifty:
Song: Tell Me
Album: The Fifty (aka the only choice)
**NCT 127** - NCT 127 quickly rose to become one of my top favorite groups sound-wise, and man, what a close fight this is, but I have to pick Ay-Yo (The 4th Album Repackage).
Most of their albums are really strong overall. I don't like all 15 songs per se, but the songs I do like I like a LOT. Their 4th repackage has 9 tracks I vouch for versus the 3rd repackage's (Favorite + Sticker) 10 tracks. Ay-Yo and 2 Baddies are amazing title tracks to promote, and I think they had a great run during that period.
What makes this album take the crown for me is how the b-sides seem to have been tailored to my personal preferences. I mean, 'Time Lapse,' 'Crash Landing,' 'Designer,' 'Tasty,' and 'Skyscraper' are suuuuch an experience. After I spent an entire 8-hour long flight looping this album because it was all I had saved in storage, I can safely say I approve it.
**TVXQ** - For TVXQ I bet most people will say 'MIROTIC', and although I love it very deeply I don't think we talk about 'Rise As God' enough. They released this entire album shortly before they both went to the military to keep us occupied and \*well\*, casually dropped their best album in my opinion with NO PROMOTIONS. Oh Lord how we have suffered back then! I highly recommend this album to anyone who wants to get started on TVXQ.
**Super Junior** - Very intense discography, full of amazing tracks. I have to say their 7th Album special edition 'THIS IS LOVE' takes the crown to me because I love all 13 tracks, and it has a lot of my favorite songs to watch them perform. '[Midnight Blues](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUPF4sPLD1U)' you'll forever be famous!

For (G)I-DLEās Magnum Opus song, I think itās fair game for anything before 2022. My personal choices are Omg, Hwaa, or Lion, maybe in that order(?) Conceptually the first two were beautiful and really a breath of fresh air, and they presented well-made lyrics. On the other hand Lion was their Queendom act making it something of a classic and itās justā¦ very Idle-esque. They all have flashing lights saying they were made by (G)I-DLE, and thatās what I think makes them such good songs- it feels like those three really stayed true to Idleās sound.

Valid Choice Though what do you think about Your Choice, their EP?
I liked that one too! Especially Anyone and Ready to Love but I feel like it doesnt really stand out

Love Yourself: Tear is such a tightly knit albumš. Banger after Banger.
- for albums: *Palette* by IU and *Poet | Artist* by Jonghyun (RIP) - for songs: IU's Good Day and Bigbang's Still Life
I burn gidle has yet to be topped. The perfect mix of producer line
fr kind of a quieter album and previously I trust was more successful (RIP Lie ver. š) but there was no hit or miss mentality with the songs on I burn. thematically they sound similar but theyāre still very diverse, and the b-sides were of really good quality.
I think Honey or Spice by LIGHTSUM was their magnum opus. They put a lot of work into the album amd it was really, really good
Shineeās The Misconceptions of Us. Shineeās discography is massive, diverse, and absolutely epic all the way through but nothing touches the misconceptions of us. I donāt blame you at all, Dumb Dumb is its own kind of magnum opus for sure
For Bigbang, it's undeniably MADE.
Oh my favourite NCT 127 song is Highway to Heavenš . I really love that song (both Korean and English Version). I think The 7th Sense by NCT U is definitely a magnum opus level song not just for them but in entire K-pop too.
Eyes wide open and Formula of Love are the best back-to-back full albums ever, don't know which is better.
Agree
Criminal Love for Enhypen. Objectively their best, most complete song, with raps, bridge, full melodious chorus, the works. Even the choreo is stellar. A pity it was barely promoted
lets do my whole stan list hehe loona - X X le sserafim - antifragile red velvet - the perfect red velvet ( ? ) stray kids - maniac aespa - savage fromis - midnight guest kiss of life - midas touch itzy - itz different triples - assemble + assemble24 ive - ive ive
xx is awesome and Butterfly is my favorite tt but I still say [12:00] cause I like more songs on it, partially because itās a bit lengthier. xx sounds the most like Loona though and I liked the concept more. of course opinions but itās kind of objectively a better album to represent Loona.
SNSD - THE BOYS TAEYEON - INVU FX - PINK TAPE RED VELVTE - Reve Festival (the Psycho one) aespa - SAVAGE
For ATEEZ, their magnum opus to me is their "The World" album trilogy. The flavor, the experimentation, the overall slayage of the concept and lore is just breathtakingly good. I have loved all of their albums that they have released to date but The World album series were truly on another level.
Stray Kids GO LIVE
It's definily is a piece of ART, but for me the cle sĆ©ries are a very very beautyful piece of art too šš
oof fr tho! out of all their studio albums, Go Live is truly their best work when it comes to eps tho, im so tornnnāi love both the i am series and cle series bc they're so well-thought out!
Then it goes quiet, and thenā¦ āDJ, put it back on!ā Bursts right back to life right there.
0x1 love song.. i think txt would agree as well
ATEEZ: Inception.
Thankyou for your opinions My ults are BTS I think their Mangum Opus Song is definitely Spring Day. It's just a beautiful and timeless song that even no K-pop fans will enjoy. For Albums, it's difficult My personal favourite Album is The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt.
BTS Album - MOTS7 Song - Spring Day
Twice for EP i think itās āBetween 1 & 2ā allmost all songs in that ep are 10/10 Twice song itās Cry for Me Itzy EP - Cheshire Itzy Song - Bet on Me
Ateez - Answer - easily one of the best kpop songs of all time NCT U - Without You - No one talks about this but this is just sublime NCT Dream - My First and Last or Hello Future, not sure rn WAYV - Moonwalk/Turn Back Time Enhypen - this is hard for me but maybe Given-Taken, album wise, Dark Blood Taeyeon - Time Lapse- really not talked about enough, special shoutout to U R Everglow - LA DI DA or First TXT - weird choice but Nap of the Star. Early TXT was just magically both literally and figuratively and this ballad basically encapsulates it. Title track wise, it's Love song. Riiize - really early for them but so far Impossible. But they've been releasing hit after hit.
Nice and interesting list As for Without You, that's one of the most beautiful song I have ever heard.
Thanks! And yes, for sure! I was a different person before and after listening to it for the first time!
given taken for enhypen hands down
Fo B.I/iKON it's Return.. love all the tracks. Bsides are even better than the title..
Feel Special by TWICE.
For VIXX I'd say it's Ker. The conception trilogy has some of their best work and the album design is also beautiful.
BTOB: Album:Brother Act (labeled as Masterpiece by Melon) Song: The title track Missing You composed by the member (Hyunsik); is the queen of the group.
Still my go-to album from them even after they released 4 more projects aespa: Savage, I was blown away by how great the title track is at first, but when I keep diving into the EP all the subsequent tracks sound better and better. The songs compositions might be experimental and unorthodox, but they are also the type of songs where only aespa can nail them, which in turns carry out their identity and spicy personas
And if I choose proof by bts ( it's an Anthology album) lol But tbh bts hv many works that can be their magnum opus , right now I'll just go with Love Yourself series & Hyyh trilogy And for songs Spring day, black Swan, blood sweat & tears, I need you
With the depth of BTSās discography itās very hard to narrow it down but hereās my take: Album - MOTS7 - apart from the last song (iykyk) the album is a no skip, full of amazing songs. Single - [Run BTS](https://youtu.be/aqW4xXUgmno?si=AiDakXFWlSqBV_O5) (there are countless others that come to mind but this was the first one) - and yea, totally biased but the dance practice video is š„
The Dance Practice is š„š„š„š„š„
**For BTS:** Song: Dionysus or First Love Mini-Album: HYYH pt. 2 Studio album: LY: Tear **For ATEEZ:** Song: INCEPTION Album: The World EP.1: Movement **For Jonghyun:** Song: Diphylleia grayi Album: The Story Op. 2
For BTS, Song: Interstingš¤ EP: 100% agree Album: Agree, though Wings is a close competitor Sorry, I don't know much about Ateez yet As for Jonghyun, that's generally regarded as his best song and albumš¤š»
Mamacita album by Super Junior. Listening to 1 song from this album always make me want to hear the rest of the songs.
Twice: Song: Feel Special or Talk That Talk Album: With YOUth Loona: Song: Hula Hoop (group) / Strawberry Rush (post-BBC) Album: XX Fifty Fifty: Song: Tell Me Album: The Fifty (aka the only choice)
For Purple Kiss, it's Zombie. That was probably their highest peak and best chance to gain attention.
