It’s not far off that Po (Given the passion that he has of all things Kung Fu after being inspired by the Five), I’m willing to bet he probably read up on legends of the Three Masters when he was a teenager and became inspired to paint Ox’s face on the wall in his room.
At least that’s the way I interpret It.
