My mum forgot to clap for my lab to eat once and went off to get ready. She came back downstairs about half an hour later and the dog was still there looking at her food 🤣🤣🤣
Yes lol we trained him to do this so in case we drop something toxic on the floor he doesn’t scarf it down immediately plus this helps with preventing food aggression
I don't verbalize the wait anymore, he just does it on his own since we always did it... Sometimes if I'm in a rush or my mind is preoccupied, I won't think after I put his food out then I'll turn around to him staring at me with pleading eyes for permission 😂

My exBF did that once accidentally with our dog, poor boi was sitting in a pool by the time he was done in the shower T.T
They’re so obedient bless them 💖🐶
Awe bless her heart 😭😂
TIL I’m a terrible dog trainer.
Don’t feel bad this is his best trick. Trying to Recall after he snatches one of our cornhole bags mid game? Yeah right lol.
Clear case of lab abuse :)
Permission to eat?

Ours does the same! It’s his best trained behaviour funnily enough because the reward at the end is huuuge.
Runa waits patiently for her food, but if something drops on the floor, she turns into a vacuum cleaner.
Thats just different thing you can teach your dog to control.
