I think they use those to go around and do groundskeeping at stops and stations etc

FortniteFriendTA

they're a thing. How do you think the trash cans get emptied, or stops get salted?

[deleted]

yeah I was told they empty the trashes with those, fix broken windows on the bus stops

FortniteFriendTA

yeah, it's a maintenance truck. They're just not as cool as the ones on the railroads cause they can't ride on the rails with their nifty track wheels.

[deleted]

I saw those trucks the other day driving along the tracks when I was stopped at the crossing, they had a bigger truck driving alongside bouncing around and the train was hauling rails on special cars, pretty neat to watch them all go by

FortniteFriendTA

That's pretty cool to see. You typically see those maintenance trucks and actual trains that haul that stuff on a side track. Lansing has something of a switchyard cause of the gm plants so it's not crazy you'd see such around here. I'd imagine that 'modern' trucks are probably too big to actually fit on the tracks now. They typically were smaller trucks like rangers or s-10's but that was from my memory of 20+ years ago.

this was a couple weeks ago I was riding my scooter on the outskirts of okemos, looked like one of those Chevy topkick trucks if im not mistaken
