25. Cocteau Twins (they speak English, but literally no one knows what they're singing)
30. The Pillows (Japanese)
34. Mass of The Fermenting Dregs (Japanese)
Arca is literally my most played artist and yet I don't speak Spanish. Which is sometimes funny when I actually go and look up the meaning of some her lyrics lol.
My #1 artist is Cafe Tacuba - I didn't speak Spanish when I first started listening to them, but I've learned since.
I listen to several other Spanish language bands. In French, I like Camille; and Albert Pla, who mostly sings in Catalan.
IC3PEAK has some nice songs, let me tell you that as Russian myself. Their most popular song Смерти больше нет can be considered as a protest song actually
literally a great majority of artists in my top 50 sing predominantly in Korean (eg. Girls’ Generation), Mandarin (eg. Jolin Tsai), and Cantonese (eg. Sammi Cheng) given I’m an Asian pop fanatic so 😅
10 Do As Infinity (Japanese)
13 Dir en grey (Japanese)
19 BESPA KUMAMERO (Japanese)
27 Ai Otsuka (Japanese)
43 Macdonald Duck Eclair (Japanese)
Most of my foreign language artists are Japanese. In fact, the first one who isn't is BoA at 230, who's Korean but also releases music in Japanese.
Heres mine:
1. Oomph! (German)
6. Eisbrecher (German)
15. Unzucht (German)
16. Joker Out (Slovenian)
17. Käärijä (Finnish)
41. Orange Sector (German)
Idk if most of it counts though since im actively learning German 😅 (even though i can't exactly speak it yet, im far from being fluent)
Electric Callboy (mainly English, some German)
Opeth (mainly English, one album in Swedish)
The Mars Volta (English + Spanish)
Enslaved (Norwegian + English)
Alcest (French)
Igorrr (Öxxö Xööx; made up language)
Pinging in, post-API-standoff.
Considering my longtime penchant for diversity/foreign music, this should come as no surprise. (Scrobble tallies taken from [last.history](https://anhuynh.github.io/last-history/?username=Routhwick); ranks from LFM.)

* AKB48 (#64/41), the highest-ranked Jpop act on my list (out of some 220 and likely higher).
my top artist is måneskin who are italian though they dont always sing in italian but im gonna count them anyway LOL. i listen to kpop so a lot of my top artists are kpop bands
1. måneskin (italian)
2. bts (korean)

I have quite a few!
My #1 artist is Japanese, Ayumi Hamasaki. Other Japanese artists are Namie Amuro (#10), Koda Kumi (#13) and BONNIE PINK (#39).
Then we have Najoua Belyzel (#21) from France, t.A.T.u. (#23) who sing in both Russian & English, Sarah Connor (#42) from Germany who started her career singing in English but now seems to only release in German and Nylon (#45) from Iceland, who sing in Icelandic but did release an English album.
Korean (THE BOYZ, TXT, ONEWE)
Icelandic (mum)
Japanese (amazarashi, mol-74)
Instrumental, if it counts (Nobuo Uematsu, Enemies, Ratatat, Emancipator, 65daysofstatic, Eric Satie, USF, Akira Kosemura)
some are in English, some are in Icelandic. it's not as common for them as it is for sigur ros but they do it from time to time. in my defense I missed the 'predominantly' in OPs title until literally right now oop 😅
Elan- Slovak
Satana- Spanish
Kino, DDT, Mumiy Troll, New Composers- Russian (I'm learning that one though)
Sam Hui, Keung To- Cantonese

all unlabelled artists sing in korean and english
9/50, all are Spanish unless noted otherwise
i also went up to 100 because i was interested, jumps up to 28/100
i also don’t know why the list is bolded, it just did that
#1: LIT killah

No, not really. Kraftwerk technically might qualify as the German versions of their songs are the originals, but I usually listen to the English versions, instead. The only other ones that have a significant amount of lyrics in another language besides English are KMFDM (sometimes sing in German but mostly English) and Cocteau Twins (ostensibly, she sings in English but there are lots of random words from other languages). Sigur Ros at 100 is the highest one that doesn't sing in English at all.
I only have two -- I thought I would have more. But those two are pretty high up. My number one artist is Sigur Ros (they sing mostly in Icelandic and "Hopelandic") and my number six artist is Arca (mostly Spanish).
I have Måneskin at #19 with the vast majority of that coming from Italian songs off Teatro d'Ira
I also have Rosalía at #49 but I do speak some Spanish
1st Arca (Spanish)
17th Mandy, Indiana (French)
18th Ascendant Vierge (French)
37th Soft Blade (Russian)
I do understand a little bit of Spanish and French, but I wouldn't say I'm fluent, so yea
100% Santa Salut, complete Spanish rap but I love her flow and rhythm.
Other artists have parts other than English quite often: Convolk (Russian), Nosgov (Polish) and Redzed (Czech)
I have 10: Molchat Doma, Red army choir, Kino, Roki Vulovic, Miyagi and Andy Panda, увула, Vadim Kazachenko, местный, Nick Sax and Chernikovskaya Hata.
Two Spanish singing artists, RBD and Lali. I do listen to some Laura Pausini and Sonohra (Italian) but it’s not often. I know some Spanish and am trying to learn the language, also trying to learn Italian!
Hm I think I have only two in my top 50.
At #23 Akiko Yano - Japanese
&
At #38 Magma - Kobaïan (made up language)
The rest is either English or has no vocals.
Sigur Rós, Darkthrone, Boris. I listen to a lot of music in languages other than my native one and English, but language learning is my biggest hobby so a lot is covered by the languages I speak
Russian, and my all-time top is exclusively made of artists who sing in a language I don't speak
1. Mylène Farmer (Canada/France) - 16,021
2. Alizée (France) - 7113
3. Nolwenn Leroy (France) - 1,020
4. Najoua Belyzel (France) - 1,007
5. Wir sind Helden (Germany) - 948
6. France Gall (France) - 462
7. Las Ketchup (Spain?) - 423
8. Jenifer (France) 409
<...>
11. Falco (Austria) - 309
02 Sigur Rós (icelandic)
05 Supercar (japanese)
07 きのこ帝国 \[Kinoko Teikoku\]
12 Kent (swedish)
16 THE NOVEMBERS (japanese)
20 Everything Is Made in China (they're russian but sing mostly in english)
25 PLASTIC GIRL IN CLOSET (japanese)
37 少女スキップ \[Shojoskip\]
44 My Dead Girlfriend (japanese)
If we expand to the top100, there are more bands singing in strange languages lol. I think there's a beauty to hearing music in languages you have no clue what they're saying
Well, almost all of them are metal bands lol.
Goatmoon's most songs are in Finnish.
I'm not sure but I believe Hate Forest is in Ukrainian, never check their lyrics actually.
Drudkh is in Ukrainian too (or whatever language they speak in Ukraine, I'm not really aware of it, sorry).
Burzum has some Norwegian songs.
Peste Noire is French.
I guess that's all of them and it makes is 5/50.
Yeah Drudkh is in Ukrainian. He comes from Kharkiv which used to be mostly Russian speaking before the war, but he's always been very nationalistic.
I have also Solstafir (icelandic after the first album), Shining and Lifelover (Swedish with the occasional English song).
A Europhile who doesn’t have a huge fascination with lyrics is basically a description of me 😭 my top 2 artists (Sergey Lazarev and Poshlaya Molly) speak Russian, and I have 8 other Ukrainian or Russian speakers in the all time top 50 (Alex Malinovskiy, Molodoy Platon, O.Torvald, Mukka, Eldzhey, Zlata Ognevich, Три Дня Дождя, and Vacio)
I always listen to music in languages i don’t understand when i need music to focus but have a bad habit of subconsciously listening to the words and getting distracted if i listen to English music
only one, #40 carnival youth, as they often sing in latvian. but i do speak 6 languages lol.
edit: i can stretch it to two, i guess, as the joy formidable has some tracks in welsh
44 of my top 50 don't sing in English or Cantonese lol
If you count my casual mandarin and Japanese as a language I speak then it's only 13 that don't speak the same language
9 Cocteau Twins as above mentioned, sometimes English sometimes not
23 Aventura (Spanish)
24 Toe (mostly instrumental, Japanese when there are vocals)
25 An Autumn for Crippled Children (???)
honorable mentions
14 Stereolab (half French half English)
13 Opeth (Swedish, at least on one album)
Maybe not all predominantly, but:
3. Alcest (French)
15. ABBA (ABBA Gold in Spanish is amazing)
17. Hatari (Icelandic)
18. Orphaned Land (some songs in Hebrew)
27. April March (French)
33. t.A.T.u (did an album in Russian that I enjoy)
46. Wink (Japanese)
49. Runrig (Did quite a lot in Gaelic)
Sometimes I actively prefer music I can't understand tbh
I love Eurovision anyway, but I will be forever grateful to it for giving me Hatari 🙏❤️
Even saw them live a couple of years ago, and it was straight up one of the best nights of my life 😭
Dominique A (French), Tinariwen (Tamashek), Baba Zula (Turkish), Tom Zé (Portuguese), Erkin Koray (Turkish), Orchestra Baobab (Wolof, Spanish), Rachid Taha (French, Arabic).
I'm learning Korean but only know a little still.
My Top 50 consists of mostly Korean, Japanese and Thai Artists.
It's easier to say I only have 4 artists in my Top 50 that speak my dominant language: English
33. Eric Clapton
36. Coldplay
37. The Goo Goo Dolls
46. Aqualung
12 — Arca — not sure about predominantly, but a large portion of her lyrics are in Spanish
Also down at number 80 I've got Hadag Nahash whose songs are 95% in Hebrew.
As far as I can remember, La femme (French obvi) Rafaella carra( Italian), and YMO (Japanese )including all members of YMO solo were in my top 50 but now that I think of it, a lot of that’s in English
25. Cocteau Twins (they speak English, but literally no one knows what they're singing) 30. The Pillows (Japanese) 34. Mass of The Fermenting Dregs (Japanese)
lol
Mass is great!
oh, 100%. they are fantastic live. the crowd and the bed had this wonderful energy.
- 4th - Rammstein (German) - 9th - Sudden Lights (Latvian) - 16th - Kaarija (Finnish) - 23rd - Slimane (French) - 25th - 5Miinust (Estonian) - 33rd - Bethlehem (German) - 35th - People in the Box (Japanese) - 36th - Joost Klein (Dutch) - 39th - Silvester Belt (Lithuanian) - 45th - Jerry Heil (Ukrainian) - 46th - Asian Kung-fu Generation (Japanese) - 49th - Kuumaa (Finnish) 12/50
Impressive mix!
I think I won
Hello fellow eurofan 👋

4. 3 Korean (Dreamcatcher, TWICE, and BTS) and 1 French (I guess MIKA sings in both English and French though).
My #1 artist is Cafe Tacuba - I didn't speak Spanish when I first started listening to them, but I've learned since. I listen to several other Spanish language bands. In French, I like Camille; and Albert Pla, who mostly sings in Catalan.
I found it interesting that they had to spell it Tacvba to avoid legal problems. They're number 30 for me.

Parannoul is sooooo good.
Кино and Автограф, both Soviet/Russian. Also Bombino, Tamasheq
As Russian myself I approve your music taste, though I've never heard of Автограф haha
1 I believe IC3PEAK is my 5th top artists and while some songs are English most are Russian and have no idea what's being said but it sounds nice.
IC3PEAK has some nice songs, let me tell you that as Russian myself. Their most popular song Смерти больше нет can be considered as a protest song actually

mum must have started singing in Icelandic later. I checked out after the first 3 albums, where the songs that did have lyrics were in English.

Most of my top 50 is actually brutal death and slam from US lol.
Stan Getz is my #17 artist and I know he’s American, but I mostly listen so his Jazz-Samba stuff, which is in Portuguese.

In my all time top 50 just 3: Sigur Rós (Icelandic), Kult (Polish) and Kraftwerk (German, which I speak just a little bit actually)
44 of my top 50 don't sing in English or Cantonese lol If you count my casual mandarin and Japanese as a language I speak then it's only 13 that don't speak the same language

Maybe not all predominantly, but: 3. Alcest (French) 15. ABBA (ABBA Gold in Spanish is amazing) 17. Hatari (Icelandic) 18. Orphaned Land (some songs in Hebrew) 27. April March (French) 33. t.A.T.u (did an album in Russian that I enjoy) 46. Wink (Japanese) 49. Runrig (Did quite a lot in Gaelic) Sometimes I actively prefer music I can't understand tbh

gustavo cerati at 40. Love bocanada, should probably check out more by him.
playboi carti
Do Jennifer Lopez (Spanish) and Die Antwoord (Afrikaans) count? I do feel like their songs are a mix between their native language and English
41. Gal costa (portuguese)
Ricky Martin LMFAO
Ladytron, they sing some songs in Bulgarian. IDK if it's predominant though.
I love Varttina!
As far as I can remember, La femme (French obvi) Rafaella carra( Italian), and YMO (Japanese )including all members of YMO solo were in my top 50 but now that I think of it, a lot of that’s in English
Oh my god and how could I forget buena vista social club!!
Just three black metal bands who occasionally sing in Norwegian. Enslaved (4), Ulver (21) and Darkthrone (23).
