its 3% for me on my top 50 for the last week and 12% on top 50 overall
[https://mainstream.ghan.nl/](https://mainstream.ghan.nl/) for those without pro
Tyler Childers, the number 1 most popular country artist that actually makes good music is only at 4%. His songs have hundreds of millions of spotify streams and he plays huge amphitheaters. These stats are fucky.
He might just be popular in his niche but not really have a wide listenbase. Plus these stats are probably comparing you with other lastfm users.
I just checked his last FM page he has 300k listeners so not that many last FM users listen to him it seems.
Using that I’m getting 1% (tak08820) for last three months top 20 or top 50. But yeah I specifically seek out the most obscure stuff like sometimes things you legit can’t even find online at all
My overall is %27
I listened to some genetic stuff last week but over last 6 months I'm 1% lol
Overall 12% though, Porcupine Tree and Opeth are apparently quite mainstream.
My overall is 4% according to that, which makes sense since I used the Korean tags for a lot of Korean artists instead of the more common English named ones. Last week was 7% I think
I've been maybe 13-17% before. I think that listening to any mainstream band throws your score off. I'll listen to tons of underground stuff, but rarely solely that for an entire week.
What's your last fm name?
I listen to half super obscure bands and half really popular bands so i always even it around 50%. Radiohead and beck always end up bringing that number up lol
Not me. I explained everything in another comment.
I usually only listen while I'm at work, but I've been out since the 19th due to injury. Those are the only two artists that I had a chance to listen to last week. One is an Italian indie pop artist. The other is an American folk pop artist who just released his first vocal album. he is a very talented acoustic guitarist who have been following for quite a few years.
As I said, I usually only listen while I'm at work. I drive a truck. I was out for two weeks due to an injury. I didn't have a lot of time to myself while I was at home because my granddaughter lives with me and wants to spend every moment she can with me.
I do most of my listening while I'm on the road for work, but I've been out due to injury since the 19th.
I only had 29 tracks total from two artists last week: AVINCOLA (Italian indie pop) and Mark Kroos and the Forest Floor (American folk-pop).
But I've had plenty of time to work on my downloaded library. I'm going through artists one at a time and adding songs to what I hope will be my ultimate playlist.
Yeah same, i also mostly listen while on the road. I drive a ton for work (and drive mostly on backroads/in deadzones where there isnt any data) so i pretty much only listen to what i have downloaded... which is maybe like 100 or so different songs that are fairly obscure and "underground" xd.
Folk music is good. Of you havent guessed from my fav genres i listen to a lot of Punk music, and i think Folk Punk has to be one of my favorite folk genres. You might like it if thats your sort of thing, one of my fav folk punk bands is AJJ.
Good luck with the playlist btw. ive tried to create my "ultimate" playlist before but i get so tired of some songs that every "ultimate" playlist i make ends up getting trashed and reworked LOL
oh neat!! Will give em a listen. My personal favorites are Полматери (Used to do sort of punky stuff hut has recently been more pop-focused) and ssshhhiiittt!. Definitely 2 of my favorite bands. Totally recommend ssshhhiiittt! if tou like bands with an older/calm punk sound to them. Newer band but insanely underrated
I was raised on big bands and swing, and old-school country and western. I was eight when the first wave of punk emerged. I was into 80s pop and classic rock and hip-hop in high school, got into funk and jazz and world music in the 90s, and really started exploring foreign language rock in the past decade.
Honestly i get that. Im pretty young still, only 20, but growint up with my grandparents and listening to only music from the 40s-60s also definitely impacted my current music taste. If you want some neat music thats sort of newer but has that old feel to it, I highly recommend [This Album](https://open.spotify.com/album/4gCxVCBV1bThixzOFIkZB0?si=SGOhm80DT3yRR_fAS66fRg) by The Frights or [This Album](https://open.spotify.com/album/7u501T7f4RfLPuRQCXEcDe?si=LApZitCkRPKBAnAYME8JNg) by The Murlocs. Both bands have other albums too ofc but these albums by them specifically have that "antique" and nostalgic feel to them
If you have Spotify, here are some of my personal favs from ssshhhiiittt

My technique for building this playlist is to download the entire studio discography and just go through it in chronological order. So I'll definitely check them out.
I have around 530 artists in my liked list, which I use as a way to remember who I need to go through. I have 33 artists currently downloaded. I also have three "suggested" playlists, which I'm sure will add to that liked list.
If you're using a browser, it's underneath your name and the date you started.
Overview **Reports** Library Playlists Following (etc)
If you're using the app, the Reports button is in the center at the bottom of the window. It looks slightly different than what I posted.
I’m on the reports section then but it doesn’t show my score😭😭 it says streams, diff tracks, Mins streamed, diff artists, hours streamed albums and days streamed and then below is listening clocks do I have to click on these as I’ve tried all of them
It's a lastfm pro feature, which I expect is why you can't see it?
https://mainstream.ghan.nl/ is a similar mainstream tool, you may want to use this to check your score instead!
30% overall, 7% for last year, and 5% for last week. I've had lastfm since i was 14.
This list really shows that i'm in kind of a musical bubble though: Yo La Tengo is only 20% popular? Kurt Vile, The Gaslight Anthem and King Gizzard are all only 10%? Those bands are all reasonably popular to me.
18% overall. Mainly Led Zeppelin & Phil Collins (and old ass beatles and nirvana scrobbles) make it more mainstream. Also Genesis but I listen to prog genesis more which is less popular
I cant say for the official one, becuase i dont pay. But back when we were all using labs tools and bb code extensions, the obscurometer did get me a lowe score. Not sure how different its calculation is though
Not.exactly checked with last.fm (I don't have pro), but with the page others linked in the comments: No matter what, I always score a 0% overall (My top 50 stats overall artists are all 0%, besides 3, ranking 1%, 2% and 3%)
I did one of this obscurity things before and I got 1%, so mostly non-mainstream stuff. Right now, I’m listening to an artist who has 36K monthly listeners, but I’ve listened to numerous bands more in the 1-4K range. I usually listen to artists under a million monthly listeners.
They seem to be around from before lastfm has had this feature, reckon they’ve got some amount of legacy data then?
Could explain some of the differences in numbers. I’ve got an artist on my list who’s got about 800-ish listeners on lastfm, but the website puts them at 18 listeners.
Using my entire spotify stats on a site called Obscurify, I get 98% more obscure than US users. It's a questionable metric, though, since it only has data from people that use the site and if you're checking the obscurity of your music taste, you're probably more likely not going to have the most pedestrian listening habits.
26% mostly because some of my top artists are super obscure and/or Brazilian, which is counter-balanced with super mainstream shit like arctic monkeys or green day
labels called "Psalmus diuersae" it was run by /f and she deleted it, archived it, then deleted it again. all of the stuff is only on soulseek. real bitch move tbh lots of other artists were on their not to mention /f is a lolicon so shes just kinda awful, her music is really really good too so that sucks
Tryna be different final boss Just kidding tho, cool stats
Not last month, but yes. Obviously Grindcore isn't for everyone
powerviolence BITCH
Power electronics BITCH
love power electronics
its 3% for me on my top 50 for the last week and 12% on top 50 overall [https://mainstream.ghan.nl/](https://mainstream.ghan.nl/) for those without pro
I’m not sure about this tool. I got 14%. What throws me off is that Taylor Swift is 66% mainstream, wouldn’t she be closer to 100% than anybody?
Kanye West is 88%. You'd think taylor swift would be higher than him. I guess kanye is just more common for last.fm users?
travis scott has less than 1 million listeners on last fr that’s crazy
i think its because people that have autocorrect on are scrobbling to Travi$ instead of travis
Isn't it more a site wide autocorrect?
im not sure what you mean, but you can turn it off in settings

The site goes by UK listeners according to the bottom of the page, with Coldplay being 100%
lol according to this Björk is more mainstream than SZA
Yeah apparently arctic monkeys are more mainstream than Taylor swift... Something's off
This tool does not give the same percentage as the lastfm reports so I dom't know how it works but it is not the same at least.
I’m at 1% according to this
same
What do you listen to
various subgenres of hardcore and metal, power electronics/industrial and a tiny bit of rap
Black metal and power electronics, so some overlap
nice, i love black metal
same
Using that I’m getting 1% (tak08820) for last three months top 20 or top 50. But yeah I specifically seek out the most obscure stuff like sometimes things you legit can’t even find online at all My overall is %27
This was all artists last week (3%) and the week before (8%). Edit: I'm at 0% using that tool.
Im on 3% on that tool on my overall top 50😳
Doesn't seem super accurate... pit travis scott at only 9% mainstream
I listened to some genetic stuff last week but over last 6 months I'm 1% lol Overall 12% though, Porcupine Tree and Opeth are apparently quite mainstream.
I got 2% top 50 for 1 year
i got 5% for overall. the past week was 11% lol
overall top 50 is at 1% 🤷
My overall is 4% according to that, which makes sense since I used the Korean tags for a lot of Korean artists instead of the more common English named ones. Last week was 7% I think
I got 4% when I did top 20 and 5% for top 50. Only started using last.fm again a month ago so all time stats put me much higher (15%).
23% for me last week 14% overall. It’s just because of weezer and the Beatles lol.
13% for me on my top 50 last week. 18% on top 50 overall.
Not so much, I'm always in the 40s or low 50s. Which oddly doesn't appear to be 50th percentile, but just halfway across the graph.
It calculates how mainstream each artist is, not how mainstream each user is
You scare me lol
1% here, boo
Why?
I've been maybe 13-17% before. I think that listening to any mainstream band throws your score off. I'll listen to tons of underground stuff, but rarely solely that for an entire week. What's your last fm name?
brixenivy It's in my flair
But why potato?
Probably because they are "underground".
IIRC around 20% is underground. Last week (8%) said subterranean. I've never seen potato before.
Because it's so far underground.
Devo’s Spudboy
I listen to half super obscure bands and half really popular bands so i always even it around 50%. Radiohead and beck always end up bringing that number up lol
2024 (Jan): 42% 2023: 54% 2022: 52% 2021: 25%
...man that's crazy, I've never gotten lower than 17. On the actual last fm site at least. What are you listening to, 40s radio hour?
Everything was from the 2020s.
6% but it seems it’s only so high because I went on arctic monkeys nostalgia trip once lol
Wtf mainstream score lmao
My most popular artist for the week has 1.9k listeners. My least popular artist for the week has 5 (five) listeners.
Lol feels like people are just limiting themselves to be a hipster
Not me. I explained everything in another comment. I usually only listen while I'm at work, but I've been out since the 19th due to injury. i was in 1% when i exclusively listened to harp and violin covers of video game soundtracks
Not a pro user, can't see it

Damn and i thought i was cool at 29%
13% here
I am attempting to listen to all the grammy nominated songs so I'm probably more mainstream than ever.
close, 83%!
i am 2% as well. Most obscure artist is preripped lol. all i listen to is epunk/incelcore, and russian post punk tho
I do most of my listening while I'm on the road for work, but I've been out due to injury since the 19th. I've got a few Russian artists, but most of them are from the 80s. I suppose the newest one is Эпидемия who got started around 95.
oh neat!! Will give em a listen. My personal favorites are Полматери (Used to do sort of punky stuff hut has recently been more pop-focused) and ssshhhiiittt!. Definitely 2 of my favorite bands. How do I find it
It's under "reports" in the main menu. last.week
This is rly annoying me I’ve been looking for ages and can’t find it😭
I can’t find reports and idk which is the main menu what do I click on

I was at 0% last week using that tool.
Oh wtf I thought it was stats fm are they different?!! Oops my bad
Lmaoo, actually yeah going back through your comments the issue isn't with the mainstream graph hahaha Lastfm and statsfm are different though, yeah!
i bounce between 4%-5%. Talking heads is my most mainstream according to mainstream.ghan
Do you need pro for this feature?
Apparently…I've had it for so long that I don't think about it much.
That’s really cool, right now I have a 14%, and a 31% overall
I’m 21% overall. Lowest: 14. Big Ghost Ltd (1%) Highest: 8. Kanye West (88%)
8% overall top 50
im 27% 😭😭 i listen to a few artists under 10% but bc i listen to radiohead and the beatles so much it skews my percentage
I have before, but last week was 6% for me overall I'm at 10%
That's indie cred my brother
I'm around 4% last few years. 24% overall, kanye and radiohead era hard carries lol
Got a 14% which is kinda surprising since more than a few of my top artists are 0%
18% overall. Mainly Led Zeppelin & Phil Collins (and old ass beatles and nirvana scrobbles) make it more mainstream. Also Genesis but I listen to prog genesis more which is less popular
I'm 19% overall with Strokes 62%, Arctic Monkeys 75%, Zeppelin 54% and Black Keys at 38%. I only did top 20 since I'm too lazy to type em all out
1% for the last 3 months
I cant say for the official one, becuase i dont pay. But back when we were all using labs tools and bb code extensions, the obscurometer did get me a lowe score. Not sure how different its calculation is though
My lowest has been about 30% i think
i'm at 4% for the last 3 months
this aint a flex
Jokes on you, mine is 0% because I don’t have Pro.
Not really, because if you use the tool that everyone has been linking, I'm a 0% for the week also.
Oh shit nevermind I’m at 32% for top 20
Not.exactly checked with last.fm (I don't have pro), but with the page others linked in the comments: No matter what, I always score a 0% overall (My top 50 stats overall artists are all 0%, besides 3, ranking 1%, 2% and 3%)

And that put me at 0% for the week.

I got 4% overall, 4% past year, 3% six months, 2% three months and 4% past week
Granted, I only had last.fm for about a year
get on my level, 1% top 50
I’m always somewhere in the 60-76% range but tbf my monthly discoveries are always at like 0-2% so I’m always listening to the same artists
My avg is 1% 😭
No. The lowest I got was 10% weekly overall.
12% top 50 overall. Carried by Kendrick, jid and kanye
Cool! I've never seen this stat before. I am 10% this past week, and 12% overall on top 50. Lowest number is 7% last year top 50.
I'm usually around 50%
Underground like a wild potato

ive had 0% at some point cause i was listening exclusively to some psalmus artists (a now deleted netlabel)
labels called "Psalmus diuersae" it was run by /f and she deleted it, archived it, then deleted it again. all of the stuff is only on soulseek. real bitch move tbh lots of other artists were on their not to mention /f is a lolicon so shes just kinda awful, her music is really really good too so that sucks
I don’t know. I don’t have premium
I use distrokid for my distributor, how can I check my lastfm stats?
