This isnt something I would seek out myself, but I can hear a lot of the 80s bands and even mid 2000s bands that came out of England in this one song and I really love it. Do you have other songs of theirs to reccomend or even an album?
Really pleased you like it :)
The Fall have a very varied and huge back catalogue of albums.
I think the below might be a good intro to the genius of Mark E Smith. Other Fall fans may disagree.
Slates.
Live From the Witch Trials.
The Frenz Experiment.
This Nations Saving Grace.
I am Kurious Oranj.
Cerebral Caustic.
The Marshall Suite.
Fall Heads Roll.
Sub Lingual Tablet.
Awesome, thank you! I am excited to listen to them. Groups with big discographies are great for me to sift through when I'm just playing World of Warcraft for 5 hours too so I appreciate it.
Sent Katie Pruitt to a friend, I think they will like her, same with Ethel Cain.
Weyes Blood I wasnt really a fan of the song I listened to, same with Wyatt Flores.
Thank you for sharing though, even if they werent really for me, I hope my friends find some new music to love.
If I had an idea of what you've already listened to (link your profile), I'd be able to provide better suggestions.
My main playlist stretches from 1962 to 2024.
I linked it! I didnt want to do it originally because I didnt want people to suggest things based on what my artists are. My account has been around since 2009 and I genuinely will listen to anything once so I just wanted people to suggest blindly based on their favorites.
Fair enough. I listen to almost anything, and it looks like you're pretty diverse also.
I stopped at 200, but I think I have a decent idea.
Vanishing Cream by The Hunger
Eden by Battle Beast
Curtain by Eve 6
Elämänpelko by Apulanta (in Finnish)
Pepeljuga by Divlje Jagode (in Bosnian)
Yo Mismo by Té de Brujas (in Spanish)
The first two songs weren't really my speed, but I really liked the Eve 6 recommendation, i added it to my playlist!
The other three werent really my speed either, but thank you for the recommendations!
lfm tells me the last itme I listened to Don't Change Your Plans was 2012!
Gone it says i've never listened to but I know thats wrong because I remember checking this CD out from the library and putting it into my itunes.
I was a Directioner in 2011-2013, and they are my 5th most listened to overall, but I never actually never listened to a lot of their solo stuff and I really need to. thank you for suggesting this to actually make me do it.
Oh wow I didn't expect that. Thank you for the insight! I hope you like it, Niall especially has a really great solo discography. I'd really like to know if you enjoy it 😊
Really liked the song I picked for Susanne Sundfor (fade away), so I added the rest of the album to my listening queue. Graph Rabbit was ok for me.
Baths is reminding me of the stuff I listened to in late high school, which I'm listening to a song from Cerulean so timeline wise that adds up. I will probably also listen to the bee and PuppyCat music too because, well, I already know I like that.
RL Grime was also just ok, I might need to dive into a song other than UCLA though.
Dredg, I'm listening to Bug Eyes and I really like what I'm hearing so I'm gonna add the rest of this album to my listening queue.
Awesome yeah I figured you might like Dredg since you’ve given Cursive a shot. Not suuuuper alike but there are some similarities. All of their albums are great except their most recent which is… really bad.
Susanne Sundfor has a great mix of tunes, some art pop/electronic over to more acoustic relaxed stuff. Definitely has some that’s really straightforward and then some really experimental.
For RL Grime I like the stuff off of VOID better.
For Baths check out Obsidian too… it’s starkly depressing compared to Cerulean.
Enjoy!!!
Their description says they are doom metal, but this isnt what I thought doom metal sounded like! I could seem myself jamming to this on my big everything playlist. Ty!
Here's some non-English (or instrumental) songs I love, I hope you'll love them as well!
Oba, Lá Vem Ela - Jorge Ben Jor
Beautiful World - Parannoul
Todo Menos El Presente - Tinta China
leichter//kälter - Edwin Rosen
So the only artist I've heard of this list is Between the Buried and me, but I've never actually listened. Listening to Monochrome now- I feel like I know what the sound like from like...2005 so this is very different from what I expected but I like it. I think what's gonna get me with a lot of these bands is they have songs over 6 minutes and my ADHD brain cant focus that long lol.
For Opeth, I picked Soldier of Fortune, wasn't really me so I skipped around to Harvest and Windowpane and kinda the same thing, wasnt really for me.
Septicflesh I picked Anubis, really like the beginning of this song and the guitar, but I'm not a fan of the growling/screaming vocals (It wasnt the screaming, just the tone of his screaming vocals) I did listen to whole song cause I liked the background music and the melodic vocal portions. I might venture into them some more if you have any other songs to suggest.
Dark Tranquillity I picked Atoma and kinda the same thing as above, I really like the instrumental and the melodic vocals but not the screaming vocals.
Dimmu Borgir i picked Puritania and I really once again love the instrumental, but the vocals in this song are kinda robotic and I have a horrible fear of voices like that so I had to skip around, I moved to Gateways and the vocals here are also...interesting but the instrumental so theatrical it's amazing.
Katakylsm I picked narcissist and I think it's a little too heavy for me to listen to on my own.
I've listened to the beach boys 75 times, but I know thats incorrect cause it's The Beach Boys! I've been listening to them from so many sources since I was a kid.
But, I've not heard all their songs and this is one of them!
I love collecting underrated artists hold on
- Suicycles
- Jukebox the Ghost
- Jonathan Bree
- Austin Weber
- The Brunettes
- Pleasantries
All my personal favorites
I've listened to Jukebox the Ghost 51 times, with Under My Skin being the most played song at 18 times.
Austin Weber, I'm listening to his Mamma Mia cover and I love this! I'm going to have to check out his other stuff
Westside Gunn i've never listened to on my own, but I see he's got a lot of songs with Tyler the Creator and I have a friend who that's his favorite artist so I've probably heard something before. I'm listening to 327 now and I like it a lot.
Tems, what a beautiful voice! same with Nancy Wilson!
Westside Gunn is my most played artist, some don’t love his voice (I kinda get it it’s an acquired taste lol but I’ve definitely acquired it)
Tems has a new album that I suggest you check out, I love it
Nancy Wilson has an incredible voice and is one of my favourite singers
listening to the top 5 songs on spotify, I think it's a little too electronic/industrial for me, but I like Miss Me? I could see how this would be fun in a club or driving really fast lol.
oh sorry thats not his usual style at all, i respect it, but he's more on his really aggressive vocals like in acquired taste 2, or in his trap metal hits like Heart Attack, its way out of people's comfort zones so i get if u dont like him but he's my fav
In no particular order or genre grouping:
Arthur Buezo
Otoboke Beaver
Viagra Boys
Skippinish
Munly and the Lee Lewis Harlots (one album but anything with the word Munly in it is the same guy)
King Creosote
Cuttered Flesh
Parov Stelar (Black Marlin on Voodoo Sonic is a decent place to start but he's definitely a bit marmite)
Solstafir
Eläkeläiset (if for no other reason than the fun of trying to figure out what song they're covering in a Finnish hummpa style)
Edit: Hola Ghost - flamenco tinged psychobilly. Great fun. Start with Chupacabra.
Arthur Buezo- it's cool he's a one man band, vocals arent for me, but the talent is there I bet it's a cool show to watch live.
Otoboke Beaver, lfm says i've listened to literally nothing, but I know thats wrong because I've seen them live lol. I didnt use the site for a good 7 years so my scrobbles are a lil messed up on a lot of things.
Viagra Boys- my bf says he's seen these dudes pop up in his music scenes discourse, and he's been listening with me. We listened to Sports and that is such a funny song, and we also listened to Punk Rock Loser. I think vocally he kinda reminds me of Murder by Death.
Skippinish is really good, I'm going to suggest them to my mom who likes listening to Celtic music!
Munly and the Lee Lewis Harlots and King Creosote not really for me :( Same with Cuttered Flesh but my god thats come crazy album artwork. I also have a friend who I will recommend this band too if they don't already listen.
Parov Stelar i've listened to 5 times lol but my friend's husband likes electro swing so i've heard them a bunch outside of my own listens. I do like the song Suzie which i thought was them but now i cant find it, maybe it's another group and i'm confusing them?
Solstafir, listening to their latest release and it's really good. I can see this being an easy group to get lost in if you've got some work to do and you just wanna focus.
Elakelaiset holy shit. I love stupid music (non derogatory) i'm going to listen to every single song this group has and recommend to all my friends who like they might be giants. So far, this might be my favorite recommendation on this whole thread. Listened to Elan Humpalla first and figured out it was living on a prayer!
i'm so obsessed idk if i can listen to anything else today.
That's good there's something there. With no hints, I did give you a pretty wide range. I must say that I'm a bit envious of you having seen Otoboke Beaver. I'm going to have to miss them on their current tour
Btw, if you're liking the Elakelaiset game, here's a link to an interview about them. It explains quite a lot 😄 https://stalker-magazine.rocks/en/2013/05/12/elakelaiset-pranks-jesus-and-some-serious-shit/
Bad Suns - Life Was Easier When I Only Cared About Me, Transpose, Heartbreaker, Peachy, Heaven Is A Place In My Head, Cardiac Arrest
La Bouquet - Pity Party, Scream My Name, You Only Need Me When You're Blue, Loveless, The Puddle
The Brobecks - all of the album Violent Things tbh, Anyone I Know, City Lights, Aeroplanes, I'm Fine Really
also u have great taste friend! Your compatibility with timedowls is Super. You both listen to BTS, Seventeen and Waterparks.
I've listened to Bad Suns 19 times, 18 of the times being Cardiac Arrest and the other 1 time being Life Was Easier just now lol.
La Bouquet Pity Party makes me think i'm listening to a pop-dancier version of A Movie Script Ending by Death Cab for Cutie and thats not a bad thing I like it.
The Brobecks I've listened to a little bit as well. 33 times, and it's all their Violent Things album with most of the plays being The Nerve
Awesome on the compatability! did you shoot me a follow I can follow back!
lolol i'm pretty ot7 but my first bias was actually taehyung!! i like that picture bc he has a little piplup sticker on his shirt and that's my favourite pokemon :D are u a bangchan bias?
it's so hard to pick a favorite in groups. I'm the same way with bts, where i'm a hobi bias but i love them all so much.
yes for chan, but he's my ult for all of kpop as well.
Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In) by The First Edition
You Weren't There Anymore by Neggy Gemmy
Divers by Joanna Newsom
Lumang Kanta by zild
Let It Be by Daichi Yamamoto
I listened to both the kenny rogers first and the single first edition song and wow both versions are amazing! I added it to my playlist.
neggy gemmy was good!
unless joanna newsom is under something else, she isnt on spotify :(
zild is great, added this song to my playlist and will be checking him out more!
Daichi Yamamoto though is right on the money! Wow, this song is great and I'm excited to check out more, thank you!
BROCKHAMPTON! Hard to recommend songs, but personal favorites are MILK and GINGER.
Also Glass Animals, the album Dreamland is just some of the best things ever created. Listen to it from start till finish.
We had very low in common, babyshambles and gorillaz are fire though. 🥲
I’m gonna take this opportunity to suggest Miracle of Sound, he does music themed on pop culture stuff, mostly video games, his newer stuff (like Level 8 onward) is really good, I’ve mostly listened to just the Level 8 and Level 11 albums. He’s got some really good variety.

There are so many songs I could recommend hopefully this helps as a starting point though :)
Run, Run, Run - Mckinley Dixon
This song is really good. I'm gonna add the rest of his album to my listening queue, but I did add this song to my big playlist. TY
The Aphid by The Fall
This isnt something I would seek out myself, but I can hear a lot of the 80s bands and even mid 2000s bands that came out of England in this one song and I really love it. Do you have other songs of theirs to reccomend or even an album?

Brilliant! Enjoy discovering the back catalogue. As John Peel once said “The Fall, Always Different, Always the Same”.
Katie Pruitt, Weyes Blood, Ethel Cain, Wyatt Flores
Sent Katie Pruitt to a friend, I think they will like her, same with Ethel Cain. Weyes Blood I wasnt really a fan of the song I listened to, same with Wyatt Flores. Thank you for sharing though, even if they werent really for me, I hope my friends find some new music to love.

Ben Folds
I've listened to Ben Folds 153 times and Ben Folds five 22 times!
VERY NICE i've got 537 of Ben Folds Five and 172 of Ben Folds!
What is your favorite song? Maybe I havent listened yet
Ben Folds Five: Don't Change Your Plans Ben Folds: Gone
lfm tells me the last itme I listened to Don't Change Your Plans was 2012! Gone it says i've never listened to but I know thats wrong because I remember checking this CD out from the library and putting it into my itunes.
Mirrors by Niall Horan
I was a Directioner in 2011-2013, and they are my 5th most listened to overall, but I never actually never listened to a lot of their solo stuff and I really need to. thank you for suggesting this to actually make me do it.
Oh wow I didn't expect that. Thank you for the insight! I hope you like it, Niall especially has a really great solo discography. I'd really like to know if you enjoy it 😊
I was a Louis girl and I still havent listened to all of his stuff, I think i just never did cause it made me sad they were just gone.
Artists: Susanne Sundfor, Graph Rabbit, Cursive, Baths, RL Grime, Dredg
I've listened to Cursive 187 times, but I havent listened to the others. Lemme add a few songs to my queue!
Sweet! I did a mix of genres. Lmk what you think!
Really liked the song I picked for Susanne Sundfor (fade away), so I added the rest of the album to my listening queue. Graph Rabbit was ok for me. 20 seconds in to this Jorge Ben Jor song and Im vibing!
Prize Horse
2018 me would have been all over this, ty for sharing! I'm gonna have to dive into their whole discography and share with a few friends.
Opeth, TesseracT, Septicflesh, Between the Buried and Me, Dark Tranquillity, Dimmu Borgir, Kataklysm.
So the only artist I've heard of this list is Between the Buried and me, but I've never actually listened. Alright, so you're not into death metal. Also you're forgot about TesseracT, check out Luminary.

My Friend, Blood Shaking My Heart - Masayuki Takayanagi New Direction Movement
so, while totally not for me, I have someone who i can send this to who will ABSOLUTELY love it, so thank you!
Bad Suns - Life Was Easier When I Only Cared About Me, Transpose, Heartbreaker, Peachy, Heaven Is A Place In My Head, Cardiac Arrest La Bouquet - Pity Party, Scream My Name, You Only Need Me When You're Blue, Loveless, The Puddle The Brobecks - all of the album Violent Things tbh, Anyone I Know, City Lights, Aeroplanes, I'm Fine Really also u have great taste friend! Slow Down - SWIM
i'm that girl -> cozy -> alien superstar (in that order)
"Reset" by Pander Sera Love that you've got so many plays for Santi and TAI in general!
Too Good at Raising Hell - The Struts
Try out AKUTE (for a song example: Для мяне), PAELLAS (literally everything is good), 7ORDER (song: agitate) awesome library btw!
I haven’t seen any Woodz in your profile so maybe you’d like him!
I have one or two songs on my kpop playlist, but he's someone i recently discovered so the plays arent that many!
Wake Me Up by Girls Aloud
I’m gonna take this opportunity to suggest Miracle of Sound, he does music themed on pop culture stuff, mostly video games, his newer stuff (like Level 8 onward) is really good, I’ve mostly listened to just the Level 8 and Level 11 albums. He’s got some really good variety. Also if you haven’t heard of them, the Bifrost Incident by the Mechanisms. I haven’t listened to anything else of theirs, though I’ve been meaning to, but it’s amazing. Somewhat of a pulp musical type of thing, you can’t rlly listen to it as individual songs because the whole album is continuous.
Mili
Smino. Blkoscars is one of my favorites (first guy is the feature fyi)
Band-Maid - Choose Me
