I like it a lot! It’s a fun little tribute. Would be cool to see more for other authors, I know they did Dickens it’d be cool to see C.K. Lewis, and I’d love to see Tolkien too possibly with the next big LOTR release
Unless it was negotiated separately, the LotR license probably doesn't include rights to Tolkien's personal likeness (which his estate has been famously litigious over).
I love it and hope they do more author/book tributes! Here are my suggestions Lego! Alexandre Dumas (Musketeers, Count of Monte Cristo -- Ty quashtaki!), Edgar Rice Burroughs (Tarzan, Martian Series), Frank Herbert (Dune Series), Ursula K. Le Guin (Earthsea Series, Hainish Cycle), Madeleine L'Engle (Wrinkle in Time and sequels), and Terry Prachett (Discworld Series & Good Omens with Gaiman)
Love this. I'd like to see LEGO versions of Moist Lipwig's post office, the Boffo joke shop, the monastery from Thief of Time, the Achings' sheep farm, and of course the Unseen University library with an orangutan minifig (ook)
I live in a decently large metropolitan area and usually see the GWPs on Facebook or craigslist for $20-$30 within a short period after they're released. Bricklink usually has them relatively cheap too unless they're specific to a set or one of the more popular themes.
Friendly reminder that rebate apps like Rakuten, retailmenot, honey, etc reliably have 5% cash back on lego at any given time. Sometimes more. You can just make your own double points weekend whenever you want.
Capital One Shopping almost always has lego at a decent reward rate too. Plus if you search for lego, you'll usually get a special limited promo rate. They gave me 35% back for the next 48 hours one time. I got the Titanic.
Yep. Right now it’s at 1.5% to 2.5%, but agree. Never buy on Lego straight out without using Rakuten or TopCashBack (both legit companies). If you grab a referral fee from someone, each of these two companies will give you a 10% bonus across the board for about a week.
I had to get the Mos Eisley cantina on order about two weeks ago so I didn't miss the backorder before retirement. It was just before the double points weekend, just after the space exclusive set and just before this Jules Verne set. My timing is dire.
I believe its expected this summer. I get my lego news from a mix of here and YouTube but I can't remember where I heard it.
UK Lego store has it available right now but I don't know how long it will last. Part of my nervousness is around the 21 figures; I'm expecting a lot of people to buy it just for the resale value of them.
[MOA003: Maui](http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=moa003) [[Photo]](http://img.bricklink.com/ItemImage/MN/0/moa003.png)
What can I say except "you're welcome"?
My mother has all the books from Jules Verne, I'd love to make a qualifying purchase and gift it to her but it's not gonna happen (didn't order anything with double points either)
Luckily pdf instructions are free and there doesn't seem to be any exclusive piece (albeit the torso isn't that common); the only exclusives are a sticker, the box and the printed instructions... so I might try to get the parts for it
You can always wait until the initial rush of EBay prices come down a bit, and then just buy one there. This will likely go for $30-$40 tops once it has all stabilized
I love it. Big fan of Jules Verne and read a lot of his books as a kid. I also happens to become friend with one of his descendants that I met in university.
I really wish it was mysterious island, journey to the center of the earth, or from the earth to the moon instead of around the world in 80 days or 5 weeks in a balloon. It would be the ultimate Disney parks lego set. Either way at least we get 20,000 leagues. I would easily pay a hundred dollars or so for a space mountain set or the DLP Columbiad cannon
I like it a lot! I purposely skipped on buying during double points to get it. I hope they will do tributes for other authors in the future (and artists, and scientists, etc. I really like their tribute sets!).
Been waiting on good GWP to buy the Medieval Town Square. This is not it for me. Not really a fan of display only sets. If they’d upsized that Nautilus, maybe.
I like it but I have never read any of his work so I'm skipping it because the sets I wanted went on sale at various other places so I picked them up elsewhere.
I hope they keep doing these though I love my Amelia Earhart one, I'd like a Marie Curie one or an Alan Turing one although I doubt they would want to go anywhere near that with how he was treated and his proximity to world war 2.
Is there a Jules Verne book with a hot air balloon? Because I was surprised when I read Around the World in 80 Days and realised there isn't one in it. So what is this GWP referencing here?
There’s an early one called Five Weeks in a Balloon but given the presence of the Nautilus it could also be referencing The Mysterious Island where a balloon flight leads to an island and a reappearance of Captain Nemo.
I think it’s really cool, especially as a fan of Disneyland Paris’ Discoveryland which is inspired by Jules Verne. I held off on a Lego birthday order so I could get this GWP!
I dig it, I have somthing similar with Hans Christian Andersen (40291) and this thing would fit nicely next to it. Been asking my friends who needs some lego to complete my €150 order.
was hoping there would be some journey to the center of the earth, but ill still buy this becasue i like the author. would love an HG Wells one that has the time machine/morlocks
You aren't the first! When details of this set were first leaked, people were saying it had a balloon for Around the World in 80 Days, and a train to represent the Time Train. Except the "Jules Verne Time Train" is from Back to the Future, not from his books.
Edit: And the balloon apparently is only central to the movies, not that book.
There is no GWP in Turkey, even we pay %10-15 more. My 2 years Visa to Germany is over and they don't give any appointments. So stuck here with RTE and no GWPs :(
It looks good - always thought the tribute sets were quite nice
I don't know if it's worth the price threshold though - just another set i'll Bricklink at some point and add that to my already huge list....
I love Jules Verne, so this set was a no brainer for me. I had some stuff i was going to order anyway, so i went ahead and put the order in so i could get the GWP
I like these real people tribute sets.
I'd like to see a Jane Austen, Mary Shelley or Agatha Christie set. It would be nice for some female authors to get a tribute. I liked the Jane Goodall and Amelia Earheart tributes.
It was too bad the Gustave Eiffel tribute was tied to such an expensive purchase.
I just want a 3ft long Nautilus.
Personally, I want to build the sick Nautilus design by Kevin o Neill from League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Tbh I like the Disney one best and it's probably the most likely to ever be made.
EXACTLY what I was thinking!
I want a whole Jules Verne theme. Or maybe expand that idea to a classic sci fi theme.
It’s been in Lego ideas before but was rejected :(
I would love this so much, a big scene with the Octopus 🐙
Giant sea squid, but who's counting?
…counting tentacles?
my first thought was "it'd be cool if this was a tease for a big Nautilus set"
The huge one on Lego Ideas was so awesome, I would have gladly bought that vs other 300-500$ sets if I had money
I like it a lot! It’s a fun little tribute. Would be cool to see more for other authors, I know they did Dickens it’d be cool to see C.K. Lewis, and I’d love to see Tolkien too possibly with the next big LOTR release
Tolkien would be cool. And if they want to do more sci-fi authors HG Wells would be fun.
If they made a Tolkien one, that would be mine, my own, my precious [GWP].
Oh yeah how could I forget, he would be great!
H.P. Lovecraft minifigure with a black panther sized cthulhu bust
YES, this.
I’d Kill for a WotW set
Tolkien will probably never happen. His family will want some serious royalties from that.
Shouldn't the LotR license cover that?
They have the license to the movies not the books
I wish so much that it were the other way around…
Unless it was negotiated separately, the LotR license probably doesn't include rights to Tolkien's personal likeness (which his estate has been famously litigious over).
I don't think they have the legal authority to prevent imitations of his likeness. The Hobbit will be out of copyright in less than a decade, too.
C.S.* Lewis
I think they meant Louis C.K. /s
Tolkien would be amazing! Personally I would love to see Herman Melville - Moby Dick.
That would be my White Whale.
Def Terry Pratchett
With the luggage as the base, instead of a book
I need a little Ah'Tuin turtle
Miguel de Cervantes wrote Don Quixote, you might have meant The Count of Monte Cristo by Dumas
I'd love to see a version for Don Quixote with the windmill!
Corrected! And I def want a Cervantes/Don Quixote tribute book! :D
Don't forget the one for Hans Christian Anderson.
Which one was that? I might have missed that one.
40291
[40291-1: Creative Personalities](https://brickset.com/sets/40291-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/40291-1.jpg)
that one I felt the number of stories depicted could be more... and more overt?
C.K. Lewis, author of notable works such as the magician'k nephew, the lakt battle, the kilver chair, and Prince cakpian?
Or C.K, Lewis, notorious public masturbator/ comedian
Lewis Lewis Lewis lewahhh
No he did *The Line, The Which and The Ward Robes* along with a whole bunch of mormon pastoral works. /s
Oh my bad, you're right. I got him confused with the guy that wrote the lyin wench in the ward robe
Terry Pratchett please. I'm salty that the Discworld turtle LEGO Ideas concept wasn't approved.
And a playable Thud set with dwarf minifigs and troll bigfigs!
Love this. I'd like to see LEGO versions of Moist Lipwig's post office, the Boffo joke shop, the monastery from Thief of Time, the Achings' sheep farm, and of course the Unseen University library with an orangutan minifig (ook)
Ankh-Morpork modular buildings!
Don't forget Roald Dahl, andTerry Pratchett. I'd love to see a BFB, witchet carlie and mathilda book or a book contaning a miniature great a' Tuin
they did Dickens?! where can I find what it looks like? (in fact, where do I find past limited edition sets?)
Ohhh I would kill for slightly larger version with space for a reference to each of the Narnia novels!
I really like it, I just don't $150 like it.
195 in canada. And I don't see Journey to the center in it. Sucks so much when they lock these cute things behind high price tags
Lol wtf. I saw it and went I like it for around $60-80 CAD. $200 is beyond ridiculous.
I meant you have to pay 195 on the lego store to get it as a free gift. My bad
Ahhh that makes more sense, and is a little more palatable
I reeeeeeeeeeeeally wish they would just sell them as ordinary sets. GWP is such a scam.
Wtf, 150 ?!
Not for the set, but what you need to spend to get it as a gift
Unless I misread the purchase threshold.
Yeaaah I saw it and was hoping I could redeem points for it and not fork over another $150 lol
I live in a decently large metropolitan area and usually see the GWPs on Facebook or craigslist for $20-$30 within a short period after they're released. Bricklink usually has them relatively cheap too unless they're specific to a set or one of the more popular themes.
I want it so badly but just spent a lot during double points so I can't get it
I skipped double points so I might get this. Even though I also just spent a ton on Barad Dur.
I skipped double points as well for this. Only spent $165 so it’s worth much more than $8.25 to me.
Ornithopter purchase as well?
Friendly reminder that rebate apps like Rakuten, retailmenot, honey, etc reliably have 5% cash back on lego at any given time. Sometimes more. You can just make your own double points weekend whenever you want.
Capital One Shopping almost always has lego at a decent reward rate too. Plus if you search for lego, you'll usually get a special limited promo rate. They gave me 35% back for the next 48 hours one time. I got the Titanic.

I did Barad Dur, double points for Rivendell and now something cheap for this GWP. Wish they would combine some of these promos more often.
I had to get the Mos Eisley cantina on order about two weeks ago so I didn't miss the backorder before retirement. It was just before the double points weekend, just after the space exclusive set and just before this Jules Verne set. My timing is dire.
Reach out to the support team. I bought the Avenger’s Tower right before the Christmas GWP and they were able to send it to me
Yea, sent them a note this afternoon and they got back with a 2000 gesture; pretty cool! Along with the points from the set it's almost 5000!
When will the Mos Eisley get out of stock? Hoping to get it around 1-2 weeks from now max.
I believe its expected this summer. I get my lego news from a mix of here and YouTube but I can't remember where I heard it. UK Lego store has it available right now but I don't know how long it will last. Part of my nervousness is around the 21 figures; I'm expecting a lot of people to buy it just for the resale value of them.
i thought it was dec 31 2024
The worst decision Lego has made (in my opinion) was getting rid of the calendars which made it easier to figure out when to buy Lego.
Waiting for H.P. Lovecraft 💀
Complete with cat of course.
That's the one named tigger with one letter swapped?
[TIGGER: Duplo Figure Winnie the Pooh, Tigger](http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=tigger) [[Photo]](http://img.bricklink.com/ItemImage/MN/0/tigger.png)
Thank you bot.
[MOA003: Maui](http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=moa003) [[Photo]](http://img.bricklink.com/ItemImage/MN/0/moa003.png) What can I say except "you're welcome"?
Yup.
Poe too!
"Quoth the raven 'nevermore'"
Is that Little Alex Horne with a task?
The hair seems more Greg to me
My mother has all the books from Jules Verne, I'd love to make a qualifying purchase and gift it to her but it's not gonna happen (didn't order anything with double points either) Luckily pdf instructions are free and there doesn't seem to be any exclusive piece (albeit the torso isn't that common); the only exclusives are a sticker, the box and the printed instructions... so I might try to get the parts for it
You can always wait until the initial rush of EBay prices come down a bit, and then just buy one there. This will likely go for $30-$40 tops once it has all stabilized
The cheapest seller on Europe has it for 30€ right now but I'm way shorter on money than I am on pieces 😂
Yeah, I wonder what these parts should be priced out. I usually have about 500 parts in my pick a brick cart at any given time.
I love it. Big fan of Jules Verne and read a lot of his books as a kid. I also happens to become friend with one of his descendants that I met in university.
That's super cool! Edit: I hope you got him to sign one of the books haha
Love it. Thanks for reminding me. Just placed my order
They need a Hemingway one. I just hope it doesn’t include a shotgun. But it will need polydactyl cats!
I like it a lot! I purposely skipped on buying during double points to get it. I hope they will do tributes for other authors in the future (and artists, and scientists, etc. I really like their tribute sets!).
The Dickens Christmas Carol set is the only other author tribute I can think of. Are there others?
A GWP I’d actually build rather than just have lying around in the box / bag as pretty much all my other ones are.
As an English teacher I love it, and as an English teacher l will be unable to afford buying enough LEGO to receive it.
Been waiting on good GWP to buy the Medieval Town Square. This is not it for me. Not really a fan of display only sets. If they’d upsized that Nautilus, maybe.
OMG I love it. I adore the A Christmas Carol one from a few years ago and would love a whole collection of them.
Earhart’s plane was such a fun build!
I like it but why does every good set have to be a $200 gift with purchase?
Need more book tribute sets. Imagine a Dr Seuss tribute set or Edgar Allen Poe
Not for me, but neat!
Can't wait for this one, picking it up in an hour or so during my lunch break!
> ends 6/23 the Countach is my next planned Lego purchase and of course it drops after this ends, sigh
Is there a Jules Verne book with a hot air balloon? Because I was surprised when I read Around the World in 80 Days and realised there isn't one in it. So what is this GWP referencing here?
There’s an early one called Five Weeks in a Balloon but given the presence of the Nautilus it could also be referencing The Mysterious Island where a balloon flight leads to an island and a reappearance of Captain Nemo.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_Weeks_in_a_Balloon
Felt it fitting to get the City boat set with the whale at this time to get this GWP.
Good choice. Looks like there’s also a pretty nice submarine in City.
I get the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea from the submarine, but what are the train and the hot air balloon?
Around the World in 80 Days? Five Weeks in a Balloon? The Mysterious Island also features a balloon (and links to 20,000 Leagues)
I think it’s really cool, especially as a fan of Disneyland Paris’ Discoveryland which is inspired by Jules Verne. I held off on a Lego birthday order so I could get this GWP!
What does GWP stand for?
Gift with purchase
I think it's great. I took the opportunity to pre-order the Great Deku Tree and I'm happy to get this little bonus.
I dig it, I have somthing similar with Hans Christian Andersen (40291) and this thing would fit nicely next to it. Been asking my friends who needs some lego to complete my €150 order.
[40291-1: Creative Personalities](https://brickset.com/sets/40291-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/40291-1.jpg)
Would have loved the projectile from Around the Moon
was hoping there would be some journey to the center of the earth, but ill still buy this becasue i like the author. would love an HG Wells one that has the time machine/morlocks
Anyone know my chances of getting it second hand and how much it might go for? I’m afraid of going way too overboard if I actually go to buy legos
You can buy them on brick link for about $30 right now.
I'm honestly just really frustrated that they makes these really cool sets that you can only get by spending stupid amounts of money on a bigger set.
I really love it, hope I'll get it. I love Jules Verne's books so much, it will look great next to them.
It’s cute! I do wish there was a reference to The Time Machine as well Edit: I am silly, The Time Machine was written by HG Wells, not Jules Verne
That’s HG Wells, not Verne. A Wells one would be great too.
I made the same mistake. Was looking for a time machine and was disappointed.
That’s cool
i think I am gonna go buy something to get this today :D
I'd love it, but I don't really have the cash during the available window. I think I'll have to sit this one out.
It’s fun.
It's pretty nice, but doesn't resonate with me, because I haven't read Verne.
I like it and just placed my order.
$399
I love this set so much but I have nothing to purchase & will regretfully miss out
Looks amazing!
I like it. I’ll probably buy it second hand though. I’m trying to reduce my Lego spending right now.
I like it a lot!
I made sure to get it so I can put it next to my BBTF DeLorean
Been waiting on a good gwp to finally get the animal crossing sets, this was the one :D
Got a couple of sets just so I can have this one, will put it on the shelf next to the DeLorean (BTTF3 reference)
Just saw it in a store today & really like it.
I just placed an order for Artemis just to get this set. Gee, thanks. Lol.
I finally bought the Dune ornithopter so you’re welcome. 😉
love the stories popping out of an open book idea! now I wish they can do it for other authors too!
Already blew the money this month, awaiting August releases... just bought this off ebay instead. Looks really cool.
Must- have
What about an outsiders themed gwp by S. E. Hinton ?
I actually really like it
I read so many of his books
Very nice display piece. I finally ordered the museum to get it.
I like it a lot! But not enough to spend nearly $200 CAD.
That’s gorgeous
Now do Ray Bradbury 451 and it’s just a bunch of flame pieces on top of the book.
there are only 2 exclusive parts in this set. The box, and a sticker that says "Jules Verne" ... instructions are on [lego.com](http://lego.com)
Waiting for the inevitable time travelling train from BttF 3.
Great Scott
Jules Vernes is the first author who made me dream while reading a novel... Depending on the price, I'm buying it
It's a GWP. So free fir insiders with a purchase of over 150 USD.
Looka really good so had the Milky way galaxy in the cart ready. It shipped a few hours ago 😊
I really like it, I want it and I *just* bought the Pac Man Arcade last weekend, of course
I really like it! Saw it was leaked a few weeks ago so waited to pre-order the Zelda deku tree set today to get this too :)
It's actually decent
I'll have to see what's on offer when it comes out, I'm definitely tempted to get something off my wishlist now. I loved 80 Days.
Does anyone know when this will be available? I can't find any dates online
Today through Sunday, I believe.
Ooo I better hop on it, lol I thought it be available for much longer
Yeah, I’m not sure why it’s such a short time.
If I hadn't seen your post I probably would've missed it, appreciate you!
I personally love it. Can’t wait to get it
Interesting use of minifigure roller skates as the train wheels
Lame
I like it! I'm sad it's for such a short window at such a high price cuz I'm broke until the 1st.
Peter Capaldi's Doctor with a beard?
I really like Jules Vernes. One of my favorite author but i don't have 150€ to buy Lego, so i'm a bit disapointed
If you didn't tell me what it was, I wouldn't know. Suffice it to say, it's not for me.
what does GWP stand for?
Gift With Purchase
Ooo, I want this. Didn't know it was a thing. Time to check the online store.
It’s neat, but it’s not $150 neat.
One of the better sets inspired by a real person, but there is currently nothing in the LEGO inventory that I’d drop $150 on to get it.
Nice! What is it
It’s neat. He’s a great writer. I just don’t think he’s worth 150
There is no GWP in Turkey, even we pay %10-15 more. My 2 years Visa to Germany is over and they don't give any appointments. So stuck here with RTE and no GWPs :(
Another GWP threshold so high, it sits like an unflushable turd that nobody is clamouring for.
amogus
I'm a fan of it. Can't wait to snag it.
It looks good - always thought the tribute sets were quite nice I don't know if it's worth the price threshold though - just another set i'll Bricklink at some point and add that to my already huge list....
Really cool, going to wait till it hits eBay
I love Jules Verne, so this set was a no brainer for me. I had some stuff i was going to order anyway, so i went ahead and put the order in so i could get the GWP
I like these real people tribute sets. I'd like to see a Jane Austen, Mary Shelley or Agatha Christie set. It would be nice for some female authors to get a tribute. I liked the Jane Goodall and Amelia Earheart tributes. It was too bad the Gustave Eiffel tribute was tied to such an expensive purchase.
