No, it would be the opposite:
–Hey, boss, I still have these four bolts in the bag that came with the side access door.
–Management told me that they put those in every bag so we can have spares if we miss a bolt later. You know, like LEGO! Don’t worry, Joe, keep going.
the retro camera set 31147 has an extra brick if you build the retro camera instructions. it seriously threw me off and i had to go back over the instructions a couple times before figuring it was for one of the other 2 builds. (im sure a lot of the 3 in 1 sets have that)
How did you miss a piece that big lol? That's like the exact size of my penis shaft - you literally didn't notice an entire shaft sized hole missing from your ship??
As a casual this completely just blew my mind. I figured extras were always just random extra pieces that made it through the robot sorters somehow together, never realized they were legit just extra pieces and the same for every single unit of a particular set.
This has me wondering now, if somebody w ok uld buy evert single set released during a year are the extra pieces enough to build some unique thing like a really hidden Lego Easter Egg for the big brain thinkers.
You do you, but a lot of the posts around here that ask about why X build is unstable, or why Y does not fit in build Z are precisely because people mess up earlier steps and it bites them back later on.
I got this set for Christmas its amazing i love it. But my lord it is the hardest set I have ever built. I mess up the gearing for the front landing gear had to take the ENTIRE midsection apart and rebuild it, its was infuriating.
Literally. I used to work on F18’s and every time we would finish a fuel cell there’d be a handful of leftover parts. The amount of leftover parts should be 0 lol
Oh my god I thought someone sneaked into my room and took a picture. I am on the exact same step! 😂😂

I’m still baffled why Lego doesn’t just include a “last page” with what your leftover pieces are, so that you’re not left wondering for the rest of your natural life
Biggest reason why I open and build bag by bag; and double check each step and page before moving on. Forgot which set I was building one time and had an extra black 2x6 flat piece. I went thru each page and step that I just ended up unbuilding everything and restart it to have the same piece left over. Luckily I was on the 3rd bag and not finished.
I know I am in the minority, but this is why I actually hate extra pieces.
It’s never pieces I want or need (who wants extra flower petals), but it makes me always 2nd guess my build.
It’s not to give you bonus pieces for your collection so they don’t take into account things you want or need. it’s because the packaging of pieces is done automatically with a machine by weight and there is a margin of error on really small light pieces since it’s easier to weigh out bigger pieces. So even if the weight seems right it could be off and your set could be missing a needed piece to finish your set so they always include an extra piece for really small pieces and accessory pieces to cover that margin of error.
This happens to me when I build sets too. I get going just looking at the pictures and then get to the end of a bag with some random piece. Then I have to go back through the instructions page by page until I find where I missed it.
The Door plug was covered prior to any QA inspection. There was no operation for QA to buy off as the panel wasn’t documented as being removed. QA cannot inspect rework if they don’t know it’s been reworked. As far as Barnett most people hear what they want on that. His case was a OSHA violation that he lost a few years ago and was appealing. He was losing the appeal. No other manufacturing issues cause any problems with Boeing aircraft. I understand when you are on the outside and see all the click bait and hear all the noise…
99.99% it is not extra
Things said while fitting doors at the Boeing factory
Take my upvote. Fantastic.

It'd be really rad if some of the bigger pieces got extras. Come on, Lego, you really can't throw in a couple extra bricks?
Long ago, I had a few extra "big" pieces. There was an extra bag in the 8855 I got. It does happen but it's rare.

Just an employee having a mischievous thought of "this is really going to drive them nuts" as he tosses and extra piece in.

What’s it like working as an assembly technician for Boeing?

of course that's a sing, erm.. thing.
Avoid small aircraft and eating lunch in your car outside your hotel
OP seems a bit over qualified, they noticed their issue relatively quickly and fixed it.
Before yeeting it into orbit, even.
To be fair, they never said they fixed it, so may still have ignored it and sent it on its way. Just waiting for a whistleblower now...
They found it, overqualified for Boeing!
Time to move to working for Airbus
And part time quality inspector 😂
\*Ahem Volunteer quality inspector
You win the internet today
I almost spat my beer out reading your comment
Ehh. You can create a software solution for it.
What do you mean? OP actually fixed the error.
Would've been even funnier if it was a Boeing plane they were building.
Lmao how did you miss that!?
It’s a joint between two sections, didn’t realize it went there until I joined them
This is such an obviously missing part I'm cracking up rn
Bro that’s a joint between to sections 😭. Didn’t realize it was where the piece went until I joined them.
Two*
Ain’t no way, boi…
It’s a joint between two sections, didn’t realize it went there until I joined them
Could it be fixed easily?
Yes, just slapped the piece right on before joining them
I just want you to know I audibly LOL’d thank you for the cheer
Is it sad that I recognize Episode II playing in the background?
Must have missed a page my friend
How did you miss a piece that big lol? That's like the exact size of my penis shaft - you literally didn't notice an entire shaft sized hole missing from your ship??
My guy just outed himself as being 3.15 inches long.
Hate it when that happens. To this day, I still don't know where two 1x2s go in my 'The Child' set.
What you mean you couldn’t figure out where it was missing in the tan or green sections? /s
someone dropped our child and we just put the pieces back randomly 😅
r/nocontext
Had the same problem myself and did some googling, they’re apparently just extra pieces (only time I’ve ever seen extras bigger than 1x1)
Yes.
Anything more than a 1x1 stud or “connective” piece is too big to be leftover, 98.8% of the time
you can see on i think bricklink what extra pieces come in a set
As a casual this completely just blew my mind. I figured extras were always just random extra pieces that made it through the robot sorters somehow together, never realized they were legit just extra pieces and the same for every single unit of a particular set. drop a cool 5 figures for that Lego Easter egg each year
I'm sure there are tons of people that do it lol
I am now pretty sure I missed something but I really don’t feel like going all the way back so I’m gonna pretend like it didn’t happen
You do you, but a lot of the posts around here that ask about why X build is unstable, or why Y does not fit in build Z are precisely because people mess up earlier steps and it bites them back later on.
Thank you
I have a family member that works for Lego and they said if you have anything bigger than a 1x2 leftover you missed something.
I got this set for Christmas its amazing i love it. But my lord it is the hardest set I have ever built. I mess up the gearing for the front landing gear had to take the ENTIRE midsection apart and rebuild it, its was infuriating.
I did the same exact thing! It was maddening
I found it very easy to build but very enjoyable nonetheless.
Something every airplane mechanic has said at one point…
Literally. I used to work on F18’s and every time we would finish a fuel cell there’d be a handful of leftover parts. The amount of leftover parts should be 0 lol
Yikes! I was stressed when this happened when I fixed my washing machine…
I was actually missing one of that exact piece from my Concorde set. For a second I thought you had mine
Oh my god I thought someone sneaked into my room and took a picture. I am on the exact same step! 😂😂 https://preview.redd.it/zrrazceb698d1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=98405c423b934cdf9813a7c896e0a334f114621e
I missed the same piece on my Concorde, then my cat shattered it, and I was able to build it right
Pretty sure I didn't have that left over when I built mine
https://preview.redd.it/7e0vb6yfl58d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d2b964516fe130968186014cec9e85e44a9a59dd
No, it was left over before I started building the section, thank you though
Go back and check your steps and see which steps have that piece and maybe see if you miss something. That’s what I would do.
I’m still baffled why Lego doesn’t just include a “last page” with what your leftover pieces are, so that you’re not left wondering for the rest of your natural life
Or better yet, include the extra pieces in a separate bag
and call it extras…
Yes
The only left over in all my sets are 1x1, very rarely are also decorative strings like on Grus mansion I recently got.
Biggest reason why I open and build bag by bag; and double check each step and page before moving on. Forgot which set I was building one time and had an extra black 2x6 flat piece. Anything larger than a stud is a skipped piece somewhere.
Yes
I wish they listed the extra pieces.
Just then the king felt true fear for the first time...
I built this set yesterday, that piece is not a leftover. Good luck!
Yup.
I wondered if that was the missing left phalange from Friends until I checked the comments.
Shirley.

I did the exact same thing when building it. Took me only like 5 minutes to fix.
Yes, anything bigger than a 1x1 is too large
What set is this
10318 Concorde
[10318-1: Concorde](https://brickset.com/sets/10318-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/10318-1.jpg)
Yep! Sorry to tell you this but … The only pieces that should be left over are the 1 dots, special decoration pieces, and/or a 1 square plate.
My favourite ever build!
That’s funny because you can see where it goes in the first picture
Fun thread. This has happened to me a few times, and it stresses me out because I wonder if I've gone too far into the build to fix it.
Yes
This happens to me when I build sets too. I get going just looking at the pictures and then get to the end of a bag with some random piece. Then I have to go back through the instructions page by page until I find where I missed it.
When I get bits like this I always assume I’ve missed it somewhere.
If you got to instructions to open a new bag then yes
Alright, who's gonna tell him
When Boeing assembly workers get a new hobby.
I’ve never seen such a large leftover. More likely you missed it somewhere.
no
I had a really long piece left over after building my large Tantive… I started to panic but then realized that piece isn’t even apart of that build.
Maby finish the set first
Thanks Einstein
