Same, I wasnāt even planning on getting it originally. I was in my dark ages and my aunt, who knew I was a massive Beatles fan, got it for me for Christmas (despite all the other adults thinking I was ātoo oldā for Lego).
My wife used WALL-E as a jewelry box for a long time. It was actually really cute seeing him holding up necklaces and bracelets. Inside she kept her earrings.
I have a "Gen1" Wall-E and was so elated when I found out there was a "surgery kit" for his neck years ago. And of course completely free through Lego's customer support!
I've seen this floating around, what makes it so good to command such a high price? As somebody who's only looked at the stock photos and not any reviews of it thus far.

I got mine sealed for Ā£64 in 2019. I'm so glad I became a Who fan then and not now lol. I absolutely love it, having a Lego Tardis is insane, as is having my favourite Doctor (11) in minifigure form. :D
I'm lucky enough to have the Dimensions packs as well.
It's a fantastic compromise, it even opens up and has the round things. With Disney picking up the show I really hope the theme can get a revival. Imagine a remake of this set with 14, 15, Donna, Ruby, the Toymaker and Sutekh. And a CMF line with all 17 Doctors š
Our local Lego store has the full set in unopened box for $10,000. They also had a separate Boba Fett figure for $1600. Even at that price, the worker said they struggle to keep them in stock for more than a week when they have them in their inventory.
Mfs be like "noooo don't invest in legos, they're toys first!" And then price cloud city at 10k.
I mean, i get it, but holy fuck. We have no clue what sets available today are gonna end up like that. No wonder people are so bad ab hoarding legos.
Lando is the one character that makes the most sense being in that set as Cloud City was his base of operations and he was in charge of. The rest of the characters traveled to Cloud City either for help or nefarious reasons.
I bricklinked this one using the newer dark grey, and bought knockoffs of the most expensive figures. It displays well and I think I spent around $300 all in.
I bought this set off a reddit page for just under MSRP about a year after it came out, I was just spending COVID money like crazy. Just tucked it away, didn't have much interest, then Optimus came out and they look so good together. Had to dismantle them for now though š
I still regret not buying it years ago when I had just gotten back int Lego, the set was recently retired, and I found it on a shelf at a Barnes & Noble.
Damn yeah it's one of those sets that I hear a lot of people regret getting rid of that's partly why I cherish it so much also that year had so
Many great Lego Star Wars sets I'm not surprised some people skipped it
Bilbos house looked cool and fun and probably not crazy expensive when it was out.itd be cool if theyd come out with more Lord of the Rings ones that people can afford.
10248 Ferrari F40

The whole crew was so excited!
I rebuild mine every few years and then break it down and put it away. Must have been four or five times now. Every time I can't believe how boring building the levels are and then I start building the scenes and it's worth it all over again.
Sadly all the minifigs are mixed in with a bunch of other sets so I have a mixed collection from both of the Death Star sets, and I'm pretty sure the Darth Vader came out of an old TIE prototype set.
Anyone here who runs some trains? Iām glad I got the Maersk train, set 10219 when it was still in stores. Missed the Santa Fe and itās cars unfortunately. That one is going to hurt.
6285. Bought it a year after I picked up collecting for just 85 Euro. Every sail was like new, every part was included. It's taught me that every set will eventually be for sale for much less than what it's going for at Bricklink. 10 years later I picked up 6399 for 450 Euro. It turned out to be missing about 10 parts but nothing crucial. Both sets made me as happy as the child that wanted them when I was just 10 years old.
This. This is exactly why I collect Lego.
And for the record my favourite set is probably Orthanc. Now I have the Rivendell set and I ordered Baradur last week
[6285-1: Black Seas Barracuda](https://brickset.com/sets/6285-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/6285-1.jpg)
[6399-1: Airport Shuttle](https://brickset.com/sets/6399-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/6399-1.jpg)
wow I didnāt realise this set was so sought after. Iāve been thinking of selling it. I seem to have inadvertently picked up some less common sets over the years like the phantom with thrawn and obi wans hyperdrive ring with jango and boba. i was always drawn to the more interesting sets they didnāt have in every store
Ooh your gonna hate me
I literally just sold that doctor who set not too long ago
Things worth too much money to sit in storage , hopefully the person who has it now loves it more
Personally it's probably wall-e or the Lego idea ecto-1
I got much of the build but no dragon or figs in a bulk lot. Kind of frustrating because it's not really useful for much on its own, though it is cool, and I can't bring myself to get the figs and dragon.
Itās not retired yet, but I guarantee the daily bugle is gonna be one of those massive aftermarket sets, like the Death Star or ghostbusters firehouse
I got the complete series 1 Disney CMF before I really got into collecting lego. I was only missing Ariel and Donald, the latter of which I got with the old Disney castle. Nowadays I see those complete figurines going for ā¬15-ā¬25 on Bricklink, so I'm really glad I got them when they were out. They look great scattered around the castle.
Funnily enough, that Doctor Who set is my white whale, Iāve since become a huge fan of the series long after it retired š For that reason, I bought The Office set as soon as I could, after only seeing the first couple of seasons.
But to answer your question, itās 21306 Yellow Submarine. I only got it because I thought the iconic design looked cool and I thought The Beatles were pretty neat from what I heard. Since then, Iāve listened to every Beatles album and Iām a massive fan of their work, so Iām so glad younger me decided to ask for that set for Christmas one year š
Same goes for 31198 The Beatles mosaic set a few years later, this was just before I started listening to them properly. I have all four of their portraits in the one set thanks to a MOC on Rebrickable :)
Death Star II. I got it for my birthday when it was out in stores, but we had a housefire when I was in middle school and it got destroyed. Maybe 5 years later my dad got a used one for probably 4x sticker, since it was well out of production. I got it on Christmas and spent most of the day rebuilding it. My dad was frustrated that I took so little time to rebuild it and it helped hammer home to him that itās something I enjoy looking at indefinitely after itās built. Hopefully I never have to replace it again. It was my first large set I ever owned and is probably my most cherished set.
70413 The Brick Bounty. Idk if itās hard to get or expensive now, but itās my favorite one I have on display, I was always jealous of kids with the 6285 Black Seas Barracuda.
[70413-1: The Brick Bounty](https://brickset.com/sets/70413-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/70413-1.jpg)
[6285-1: Black Seas Barracuda](https://brickset.com/sets/6285-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/6285-1.jpg)
When I first got into LEGO as an adult, we were DINKs (dual income, no kids), so I had the money to buy pretty much any set I wanted, and I got some of the popular ones:
Monster Fighters Haunted House 10228
The Black Pearl 4184
Queen Anneās Revenge 4195
Medieval Market 10193
Dr Who 21304
Since we had kids and I became a stay at home parent, my LEGO purchases have definitely slowed down and I have to be more selective of what I buy. I missed Wall-E and The Old Fishing Store.
42100 has skyrocketed in its value, Iām never gonna sell it though, itās a beauty.
Also 8043, but Iām not sure how much of a wanted set it is now.
Definitely set 75170. I think got it for around ā¬40. Itās not per se hard to get nowadays but the prices for the set are between ā¬300-ā¬350 because of the Trawn and Chopper figures.
Probably a Classic Space or Castle set from my childhood. 6985 and 6080 are the two big ones.
For more recent sets, probably the Ewok Village, which I bought used after it retired and got it for less than MSRP.
Did you pickup the Dimensions pack with the Cyberman, OP? Got one myself but wish I would have bought a dozen of them when they were sitting on the clearance shelvesā¦.
Your reverse white whale is my actual white whale. Big fan of the show and conveniently āwasnāt into legosā the year this came out. I just want the exterior and the doctor figs I donāt even need the console lol
My Ferrari F40. My brother got it for me for my birthday all those years ago and now I look it up to find out that itās worth almost $500USD new. Thatās insane to me. š
Yellow submarine
Same dude ,I knew I had to get it day 1
I got it: It's at my parents beach appartment no regrets on that set
Wait, beach apartment, like a second house, but just for going to the beach?
Rich people be rich š Beach apartment, lake home, (insert country) home
Same, I wasnāt even planning on getting it originally. I was in my dark ages and my aunt, who knew I was a massive Beatles fan, got it for me for Christmas (despite all the other adults thinking I was ātoo oldā for Lego).
W aunt
You better cherish that Auntie of yours
I'm so happy I got that for my dad when I did
My DIL grabbed it for me for about $40 brand new!! Sheās a keeper!
Same except I may have spent $200 on one last yearā¦
So sad i missed that one
My mum bought this for me on launch, I never opened it. Thanks for the heads up!
Probably my Wall-e. I love that little guy even tho he was an early version and I had to perform neck surgery on him š
My wife used WALL-E as a jewelry box for a long time. It was actually really cute seeing him holding up necklaces and bracelets. Inside she kept her earrings.
Hopefully you got the free surgery kit! I also got Wall-e right into my return.
I have a "Gen1" Wall-E and was so elated when I found out there was a "surgery kit" for his neck years ago. And of course completely free through Lego's customer support!
Me too. Wall-e is the best š
The 10228 Haunted House from Monster Fighters. Itās a great set and probably my favorite of the sets I own.
I was lucky it was the first set I bought when I got back into Lego
Same! Monster Fighters was actually the series that got me into buying LEGO, and I got all of them.
I've seen this floating around, what makes it so good to command such a high price? As somebody who's only looked at the stock photos and not any reviews of it thus far.
I think it's because it's original IP and it's spoopy. People love spoopy
Also the sand green bricks.
[10228-1: Haunted House](https://brickset.com/sets/10228-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/10228-1.jpg)
The mighty Sea Cow 70810!
[70810-1: MetalBeard's Sea Cow](https://brickset.com/sets/70810-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/70810-1.jpg)
Ugh I wish I had this one :((
Argh, me too
Possibly my favorite of all LEGOs own IP sets
Iām so happy o at least got the MetalBeard kit, the sets from them first Lego movie are masterpieces
I know it's from the second movie, but I love 70841. It's like a battle pack but with Classic Space minifigures.
[70841-1: Benny's Space Squad](https://brickset.com/sets/70841-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/70841-1.jpg)
I love mine but all that damned brittle brown makes me worried about even looking at the thing too hard
Only broke one so far!
I got metalbeard by himself on clearance and I'm super happy about that
This same set as well as the Pirates of the Caribbean ships (4184 and 4195)
[4184-1: The Black Pearl](https://brickset.com/sets/4184-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/4184-1.jpg) [4195-1: Queen Anne's Revenge](https://brickset.com/sets/4195-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/4195-1.jpg)
Black Pearl might be the last great clearance deal I found. Got mine for $70 at Target.
Sweet lord! $1000 each?!
Luckily, I got them when they released at retail price as gifts
Dude WHAT I had no idea. I have the queen annes revenge and Iāve been picking off some pieces to work on other projects recently š«
I really hope the new Lego POTC Fortnite characters might lead to us getting newer versions of these ships
You're looking at it! I preordered the Doctor Who set as i'm a big Who fan and i'm glad i did as prices are through the roof.
Got mine for $100, used but it came with box and instructions It's a wild set.
I got mine sealed for Ā£64 in 2019. I'm so glad I became a Who fan then and not now lol. I absolutely love it, having a Lego Tardis is insane, as is having my favourite Doctor (11) in minifigure form. :D I'm lucky enough to have the Dimensions packs as well.
The Cyberman is perfection.
Genuinely one of the best minifigures ever
How do they make it bigger on the inside than on the outside?
It unfolds and there is a control platform build that clips on to the unfolded exterior.
It's a fantastic compromise, it even opens up and has the round things. With Disney picking up the show I really hope the theme can get a revival. Imagine a remake of this set with 14, 15, Donna, Ruby, the Toymaker and Sutekh. And a CMF line with all 17 Doctors š
Hey look, the round things!
I love the round things.
What *are* the round things?
No idea...
I love that setā¦ And I make sure that I always have a minifigure looking at the Weeping Angels because they creep me the hell out.
Any picture of an angel is an angel
I have The Doctor pointing the sonic at a Dalek and Clara with her back to him facing an Angel displayed on my modular street lol
Got mine for Christmas from the best partner a gal could ask for :)
Awesome gift!
I used Howard wolotitzās head and The og Ninjago Kai hair
Ahemā¦ Cloud City. I didnāt even realise how sought after Boba Fett was until about a year ago.
You could sell him for an absolute fortune
So Iāve heard. He is intact, albeit rather scratched. The set had Lando Calrissian in too, which I think was also unusual.
Our local Lego store has the full set in unopened box for $10,000. They also had a separate Boba Fett figure for $1600. Even at that price, the worker said they struggle to keep them in stock for more than a week when they have them in their inventory.
How has no one tried to steal it yet?
It is one of few sets in their double locked display cases. lol
Mfs be like "noooo don't invest in legos, they're toys first!" And then price cloud city at 10k. I mean, i get it, but holy fuck. We have no clue what sets available today are gonna end up like that. No wonder people are so bad ab hoarding legos.

Voltron for me.
I bought this set off a reddit page for just under MSRP about a year after it came out, I was just spending COVID money like crazy. Just tucked it away, didn't have much interest, then Optimus came out and they look so good together. Had to dismantle them for now though š
Probably the original Ghost set with the full Rebels crew and everything
I still regret not buying it years ago when I had just gotten back int Lego, the set was recently retired, and I found it on a shelf at a Barnes & Noble.
Damn yeah it's one of those sets that I hear a lot of people regret getting rid of that's partly why I cherish it so much also that year had so Many great Lego Star Wars sets I'm not surprised some people skipped it
I thought it was a decent ship, but I hadn't watched Rebels at that point.
I am upset, I didn't even know this existed and now I am dying to own it. I've been saying for years i want a ghost UCS....
Bilbos house looked cool and fun and probably not crazy expensive when it was out.itd be cool if theyd come out with more Lord of the Rings ones that people can afford.
Theyāre going to read this and release a $1000 Shire
All the meals must be included
So it comes with second breakfast!?
Shit, take my wallet!
Simpsons House and Kwik E Mart
Here's my obligatory "the Simpsons house set is actually terrible" comment
Agreed. I bought it resale and during the build I was like man this absolutely blows.
Mine too
Same, plus all the minifigs.
Tower of Orthanc
10248 Ferrari F40 https://preview.redd.it/6gkdh2grli8d1.jpeg?width=3327&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=62514f0baf7d03dac188d6c047e9e03812b7f8f7 The whole crew was so excited!
Ugh this is my white whale.
My F40 flat plates are cracking now, sad. This was the set that got me back into Legos. Also happened to my OG Tumbler, but not others.
Old fishing store and wind turbine.
Mine is definitely the UCS Death Star 75159
[75159-1: Death Star](https://brickset.com/sets/75159-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/75159-1.jpg)

A lot of the old LOTR sets
Definitely the UCS Slave 1
6285. Bought it a year after I picked up collecting for just 85 Euro. Every sail was like new, every part was included. Orthanc and Helm's Deep with the wall extension. Wish I'd picked up the rest of the LOTR sets at the time, but that's how it goes.
Falling water. Had to bricklink the pieces but got it done!

My dad got me this set for Christmas one year, I love it still
Probably The Mill Village Raid cos those goats are so damn popular right now
6990 The Space Train. Thanks Mum!

I think my WALL-E, I got it before the neck update
Ninjago City Docks
The Lonely Mountain. I got it after it just had retired for ā¬200.
I got much of the build but no dragon or figs in a bulk lot. Kind of frustrating because it's not really useful for much on its own, though it is cool, and I can't bring myself to get the figs and dragon.
I remember I was going to buy this set when I next got paid, and by the time I got paid, they had retired the set, I was so gutted.
Tron 21314! Just because it looks so damn good!
The original Ghost and phantoms.
I have an unopened Brick Bank and Parisian restaurant. The bank set is worth something but I still want to put it together one day.
Itās not retired yet, but I guarantee the daily bugle is gonna be one of those massive aftermarket sets, like the Death Star or ghostbusters firehouse
Wall-e and yellow submarine
I got the complete series 1 Disney CMF before I really got into collecting lego. I was only missing Ariel and Donald, the latter of which I got with the old Disney castle. I have all four of their portraits in the one set thanks to a MOC on Rebrickable :)
Probably the snowspeeder with the 20th anniversary edition lando. I think its neat that i have an affordable cloud city lando
Whats lego's deal with the lack of Lando figures?
I brought it for Ā£50 with lando few months back with no box
Thats a deal! As far as im concerned, weāre both owners of a cloud city lando!
6988-1 Alpha Centauri Outpost My mom bought a massive box of mixed legos in the late 90s and a bunch of now rare sets were in it, including this one.
[6988-1: Alpha Centauri Outpost](https://brickset.com/sets/6988-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/6988-1.jpg)
Ninjago City 70620. Itās continued to be one of my favorite sets since I bought it, and every year I see more people wishing theyād gotten it.
[70620-1: NINJAGO City](https://brickset.com/sets/70620-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/70620-1.jpg)
WALL-E š
Death Star II. I got it for my birthday when it was out in stores, but we had a housefire when I was in middle school and it got destroyed. Maybe 5 years later my dad got a used one for probably 4x sticker, since it was well out of production. I got it on Christmas and spent most of the day rebuilding it. My dad was frustrated that I took so little time to rebuild it and it helped hammer home to him that itās something I enjoy looking at indefinitely after itās built. Hopefully I never have to replace it again. It was my first large set I ever owned and is probably my most cherished set.
The whole series of mighty Micros. Pleased they only went for two series. Would be hard to get them now.
Got the ghost when I was little because I loved rebels, sad I never got the phantom though
42056 - amazed it's going for so much now
[42056-1: Porsche 911 GT3 RS](https://brickset.com/sets/42056-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/42056-1.jpg)
Probably The Big Bang Theory Ideas set
Kwik e mark šÆ
Simpsonās house for sure. Got it new and had such a blast with it.
Thatās the set that got me back into LEGO after a couple decades away.
Bag End and the Republic Gunship 75021 (which I molded to look like the blue one from the 2003 Clone Wars).
924 classic space, and 375-2 castle (yellow one)

An old castle, 7094, it can be found somewhere, but it's a bit expensive. Sadly I lost the dragon somewhere and figures are in poor condition.
Green grocer 10185 Ninjago city 70620 Apocalypsebury 70840
The holy trinity of studded Technic, 8868, 8880 and 8480.
70413 The Brick Bounty. Idk if itās hard to get or expensive now, but itās my favorite one I have on display, I was always jealous of kids with the 6285 Black Seas Barracuda.

Voltron. Still my favourite.
When I first got into LEGO as an adult, we were DINKs (dual income, no kids), so I had the money to buy pretty much any set I wanted, and I got some of the popular ones: Monster Fighters Haunted House 10228 The Black Pearl 4184 Queen Anneās Revenge 4195 Medieval Market 10193 Dr Who 21304 Since we had kids and I became a stay at home parent, my LEGO purchases have definitely slowed down and I have to be more selective of what I buy. I would agree with the pic there, do love my TARDIS. Also the first year release of pirates, so many good sets there.
Doctor Who as well. I bought it new when it was on the shelves. I still love it!

Lol I would LOVE an 11 funko pop omg
Stranger things Upside Down
All the 90s pirate ships that I bought when I was in the navy. The officers that did room inspections thought I was nuts š¤£
42100 has skyrocketed in its value, Iām never gonna sell it though, itās a beauty. Also 8043, but Iām not sure how much of a wanted set it is now.
A bit weird. But 2020 non ucs razor crest, I donāt know why but I absolutely adore that set
Both the Simpsons House and the Kwik E Mart
Probably set #21310 the Old Fishing Store. This one is one of myfavorites. I even added a light kit to it.

Definitely set 75170. I think got it for around ā¬40. Itās not per se hard to get nowadays but the prices for the set are between ā¬300-ā¬350 because of the Trawn and Chopper figures.

Vader's TIE fighter
21010 - I love the architecture stuff and this set is beautiful.
Probably a Classic Space or Castle set from my childhood. 6985 and 6080 are the two big ones. For more recent sets, probably the Ewok Village, which I bought used after it retired and got it for less than MSRP.
Red Baron 10024
Ghostbusters Sets 2014-2016
Lƶwenstein Castle. It is a beautiful set and helped kick off the return of the castle theme.
I got my brother the barc speeder with sidecar for Christmas when it was on its shelf run, I'm glad I did that
Besides the TARDIS, I'd have to say 9500 Sith *Fury*-Class Interceptor. It is still my favourite Star Wars set ever.

Oh I bought two of the Tardis Set because I was pretty sure I would never see the theme again. I wouldn't give it up for anything!
I have this set but never built it. It's still sealed in the box somewhere. I always forget I even have it until I see somebody mention it.
I bought two Doctor Who sets, the second after my daughter lost half of the first one.
My Ferrari F40. My brother got it for me for my birthday all those years ago and now I look it up to find out that itās worth almost $500USD new. Thatās insane to me. š
Same. And it's a really great set too !
Couldnāt agree more! Itās been on display in my living room since the day I got it!
Market Street factory 10190.

I guess the UCS slave 1 set. I got it when it was still available in the store and now Iām very happy I have it in my collection
I..didn't like how the doors opened..so I fixed the roof. Then..decided to slowly upgrade the interior over the course of a year.
I have the original Milano ship set from Guardians of the Galaxy. I also got the Knowhere set so I have all the characters.
Voltron
Horizon Zero Dawn Tallneck.
The Ghostbusters Firehouse. Would not be able to justify spending the money on it if I bought it today but it's a great build and great display piece
