All the 2h items are piled up relatively close to the door, everything else is in its own individual pile \[masks together, toy cubes, big bolts, etc\].
Whoopie cushions put on top of the cabinet to minimize the chances of one being stepped on and aggroing a dog. Giants, dogs, and old birds can sometimes set them off if they're too close to the wall, but at least they don't go off while we're going in/out of the ship.
I organize my commonly used tools in the cabinet. Loot goes on the ground next to it. Less commonly used tools are organized on the ground in other spots
I make one pile of two handers and one pile of small scrap, and then I make a separate pile for apparatuses. I also like putting the signs above the door to the ship.

I just toss scrap on the ground. If I have time, I organize it in piles based on value (1-25, 26-50, etc)
