Contrary to China or Japan (your examples), this country was made up of immigrants, who spoke different languages - English, Dutch,German, French, Spanish... so, yeah, we should cater to all languages as possible to continue the country's tradition.

We hit a little bit of "please stop mangling our beautiful language s'il vous plait" (my husband's French is very good as he lived there for a year, but he has a very obvious British accent)
