Thomas's Ham & Eggery in Carle Place I would say.
Itās sad how it always seems like the good ones donāt lastā¦ Embassy in Bethpage was great until they changed owners recently. They switched to the cheapest possible ingredients for everything and now it all taste like dog food. The Nautilis in Massapequa went through something similar years back. Thomasās Has been consistent for a very long time
After all that Thomas received, I decided to pack up the family and take a trip for my birthday morning meal. It was fine, but didn't beat out my usual favorite, Landmark Diner in Port Wash on northern blvd.
And it had all the problems you mentioned. Parked two blocks away on the street, waited 40 minutes for a table. Landmark's got plenty of seating on two floors, and a big parking lot out back.
If you want a great breakfast in a small place with no parking, then go to Toast&Co in Hungtington.
I have been to Landmark it was great. Iāve also tried the Hicksville Diner and thought it was very good. Bottom line is that Iām not waiting for a table at a diner when I can literally drive 2 miles in any direction and find another. Now we just check Google reviews and go to one near where my kids have sports practice or a game, or near somewhere we have an errand.
Ham and Eggery is wildly overrated with terrible service. Carle Place diner like 3 blocks up is significantly better and has room for more than 6 people.
Great? I went for Thanksgiving last year on recommendations but found it full on maga insanity. Food was bad too. Or do you mean holiday decorations? I'll never go back.
I like grand stage but will try some of the others here.
If Embassy Diner was a person, he'd be uninvited to Thanksgiving to avoid him saying something offensive to your friends.
If Embassy Diner was a person, he'd have stormed the Capitol.
I went there once. Itās really not a good place if you have an egg allergy but thatās not the dinerās fault. I also donāt eat meat. But they do have home fries and a good fresh strawberry dessert.
No meat? Than you want Three Brothers in Farmingdale. They have a lot of pizzas and what not, which is great, but they also have a whole vegan menu that is basically a diner menu
Edit: also, there is a place on Uber eats called Pinks diner in Merrick! Itās not a real place, itās actually called the diner boys, but they go by pinks for their vegan stuff on the line. They are a little pricey but I really enjoy their seitan Philly
Iām talking about diner food. I know about three brothers. Iām not vegan. There are plenty of vegetarian options at pizza places. Itās mostly my egg allergy thatās an issue. I canāt have pancakes, eggs (duh, lol), French toast or waffles if they contain eggs. No crepes either.
I do love potatoes. Hash browns. Home fries etc so things like that are fine.
There was a time, many years ago, the Nautilis was literally my favorite diner. They used to make these baby back ribs which, I know, sounds insane for a diner. But they had this sweet barbecue sauce and they would fall right off the bone. It was great
It seems like a great place if you know the owner. I walked out recently after waiting 15 minutes for anyone to notice I was there because they were all socializing with regulars.
I was just there on Saturday, sat at the counter, enjoyed my meal and chatting with my waiter. Used to live off Carmen Mill (1999-2000) and went there all the time.
Back in high school I had 3 friends that were trying to visit every diner on Long Island. They would hit 2 every weekend, always ordered the same 3 things, and kept notes on the service, food quality, atmosphere etc in hopes of writing a book one day. I havenāt seen or heard from any of them in at least 25 years. I wonder if they ever got to all of them.
This was my late night teen year diner. Went once around 2AM with a group and ordered a Reuben. The waitress brought me a Root Beer. I told her I ordered a Reuben and she said āOh. Well you werenāt that hungry, right sweetie,ā and walked away lol.
There was nothing like going to Colony on a Saturday night in the 90s when Zacharyās emptied out. I never knew how many fluorescent colors menās sport coats came in.
Damn I've lived in RVC for 5+ years and still haven't tried it. My wife had it once and said it was "mediocre". But they do always seem busy, granted majority are senior citizens that have probably patroned there since they were kids lol. Guess I need to try it for myself one day!
I kept giving GR another chance, then another. It was decent my first time in ā13, but I was always disappointed in the food. After I think the 6th time, I gave up and once again said, ānever again,ā but this time I stuck to it.
I put this in the recent breakfast food spot thread but Whiskey Down Diner. Havent had a single thing that wasnt at least GOOD there. Delicious across the board
I went there once and had maybe the worst poached eggs I've ever had. [They looked like egg soup](https://i.imgur.com/SXCRO5v.jpg) (I put the fork in to lift up the white to see if there was at least one intact yolk).
This was the hash; the eggs were in a separate bowl because they'd forgotten to bring them with the hash.
\- Landmark Diner in Port Wash.
\- Glen Cover diner recently did the thing where the re-focused on a smaller menu, and it was great the last time I was there.
\- Henry's Confectionary also in Glen Cove is a hoot. Definitely no updating of the menu. Grab some breakfast foods, or an ice cream sundae. Straight out of the 1950's.
I hadnāt been to Glen Cove Diner in years when I heard they had changed up the menu. Went recently and was very impressed.
Landmark is the always and forever king of Long Island diners though.
There's a small discreet diner next to the Manhasset train station called Louie's. It's fantastic. Shoutout to Landmark and Omega diner but in a vacuum, I'd choose Louie's
If anyone wants to see the WORST diner in Nassau, check out the newly renovated Embassy Diner...Embassy used to be our favorite spot, then a couple years ago new owner bought it and turned it into...well...let's just say the inside of the diner is like a BAD ACID TRIP. "Holiday Decorations" doesn't even begin to describe it. Like the most bizarre visual overload of Live Laugh Love signs and Blue Lives Matter flags. My hubby and I have stopped eating there. We refer to it now as "The Maga Diner". You'll know why when you go there. Just look for the 87 American flags decorating the exterior and parking lot.
It's really sad bc it was our favorite diner for the previous 15 years.
Oh, it's such a bummer. I'd say go there once just to see--it's honestly how shocking all the weird, excessive decorations are. Even if the Diner did not have a "maga" element, the sheer volume of decorations is concerning--it makes you wonder "how are they even CLEANING in here with all this crap everywhere?"
go have a cup of coffee there...it's like a car-wreck; you can't look away
Diner by the Sea in Long Beach if you get a milkshake with your meal. They are legitimately known for their shakes and it was a massive phenomenon a few years back
Thomasās Eggery on Old Country Road in Carle Place. No question.
More convenient and still excellent: Omega Diner on Lakeville in NHP and Port Washington Diner on Main Street just north of PW Blvd.
Imperial Diner in freeport
šš»this the answer
Where they spill hot coffee on your lap and the waitress looks at you like š¤·āāļø
Where else can you do fake business
What makes it so good?
Omega Diner, New Hyde Park
This is the answer. I just had breakfast there.
This place is great. Excellent.
Wow, didnāt expect to see this. Highly highly agree
Is it only good when youre drunk?
Big Fan of Pequa and Baldwin diners.
i second massapequa diner and that steak house burger golllyyyyyyyy
God, the MD grilled cheese sandwich with short rib and provolone is amazing. And tater tots!

I used to go to Thomasās but between the perpetual wait because the restaurant is too small and the horrible parking situation, itās not worth it.

I love Rhomasās but it is small and the parking lot is like 6 spaces. Iāve found that itās best to surrender and just do pickup.
Ham and Eggery is wildly overrated with terrible service. Carle Place diner like 3 blocks up is significantly better and has room for more than 6 people.
Seconding Thomasās
Embassy is too loud. Decorations are great but when you can't hear your think...
Great? I went for Thanksgiving last year on recommendations but found it full on maga insanity. Food was bad too. Or do you mean holiday decorations? I'll never go back. I like grand stage but will try some of the others here.
Decorations. The food is ok. But the music disturbs the patients trying to sleep across the street.
My hubby and I have stopped eating there, and now call it "The Maga Diner"

Service at Nautilus is typically atrocious
There was a time, many years ago, the Nautilis was literally my favorite diner. They used to make these baby back ribs which, I know, sounds insane for a diner. But they had this sweet barbecue sauce and they would fall right off the bone. It was great

This is great, Iām gona road map a tour around Nassau county with these suggestions. Thanks! Hope everyone has a great week

Iād buy and read that book
So would I.
Eating all that bacon may have caught up to themā¦
Apollo, East Meadow
Iāve been to this one, love their cheeseburger
The French dip is great too
I prefer the colony over apollo
Williston Townhouse Diner, great omelettes
This was my late night teen year diner. Went once around 2AM with a group and ordered a Reuben. The waitress brought me a Root Beer. I told her I ordered a Reuben and she said āOh. Well you werenāt that hungry, right sweetie,ā and walked away lol.
Used to be Colony in East Meadow, but I don't think its the same anymore.
There was nothing like going to Colony on a Saturday night in the 90s when Zacharyās emptied out. I never knew how many fluorescent colors menās sport coats came in.
We are probably friends
More than likely.
That's the one where the owner didn't pay his staff
I went to colony 2 weeks ago, it was pleasant.
Used to go to colony alllll the time, but my wife got food poisoning and now refuses to go sadly. The buffalo blast sandwich is my favorite
golden reef- RVC
another banger diner with an amazing BBQ burger
And the homemade award winning gelato! š
The gelato is awesome
Damn I've lived in RVC for 5+ years and still haven't tried it. My wife had it once and said it was "mediocre". But they do always seem busy, granted majority are senior citizens that have probably patroned there since they were kids lol. Guess I need to try it for myself one day!

I put this in the recent breakfast food spot thread but Whiskey Down Diner. Havent had a single thing that wasnt at least GOOD there. Delicious across the board
I agree with you, I just feel like whiskey down isnāt a diner in the traditional sense.
Honestly you're right
I went there once and had maybe the worst poached eggs I've ever had. [They looked like egg soup](https://i.imgur.com/SXCRO5v.jpg) (I put the fork in to lift up the white to see if there was at least one intact yolk). There's a small discreet diner next to the Manhasset train station called Louie's. It's fantastic. Shoutout to Landmark and Omega diner but in a vacuum, I'd choose Louie's
Mundayās of Huntington.
Mundays is awesome
Mineola diner. Jericho Tpke and Willis Ave. probably the most underrated diner out there. Their blueberry pancakes are phenomenal.
Wow, used to go there in the '70s and we called it a greasy spoon. Stools and booths and old fashion food. Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy and a veg.
I really adore Valbrook
Honestly itās been kinda gross lately and always smells like a bathroom. Turns me off very much and I hate to say it bc I live so close and itās convenient but š© not great
The ghost of OBDās. RIP for the OGs old enough to remember
Hicksville diner.
Pantry in Oceanside.
Technically RVC, but yeah that place is good.
Way overpriced!
Place is a hellhole to work in. Also some of the rudest and most racist customers.

Always liked the lantern in west hempstead. I believe they closed down

Golden Reef in RVC for the win
They're all the same
Omega
Spoiler alert: theyāre all over-priced, frozen trash.
No one mentioned Majestic in Westbury, right down the road from Thomas's. Been going there forever, great diner.
