**Elendil's Oath**
Quenya
>*Et Eärello Endorenna utúlien.*
>*Sinome maruvan ar Hildinyar*
>*tenn’ Ambar-metta.*
English
>*Out of the Great Sea to Middle-earth I am come*
>*In this place I will abide, and my heirs,*
>*unto the ending of the world.*
BTW, he didn't miss any words. I think he was just being modest. Great actors bring characters to life, and Viggo certainly keeps the spirit of Elessar alive.
You inspired me to check out the [movie scene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHjt9Q00sp4) again and man, it makes me tear up a bit every time. I actually never knew the translation of the elvish words. What a solemn oath.
Also, this is only tangentially related but just take a look at Hugo Weaving's expression as Elrond around 2:45 there. The lives of men are so fleeting to the elves and he knows he's losing his daughter forever. Powerful stuff. And of course that last scene with everyone bowing to the little hobbits is executed so well that I can't help but get a little giddy whenever I see it. Frodo's expression there is perfect too. The whole magnitude of the fact that it's over and that they did it crashing over him.
I think it has something to do with the bravery and determination of these little hobbits being recognized by basically the entire kingdom of men. Plus the awesome use of the shire melody. Like yeah it's dramatic and awesome, but it always makes me feel more hopeful than sad.
"you bow to no one" and "there's some good left in this world...And it's worth fighting for" are in my opinion two of the best, most powerful, and amazingly executed lines in film. The context and journey behind those two lines is unmatched
Out of all that I actually love Pippin's face the most. Everyone is feeling rather awkward and overwhelmed, Pippin's just smiling like *this is so friggin cool*
I saw him jogging and tossed him a knife that I wanted him to sign, but he just knocked it out of the air and kept going :(
It's amazing what a jerk that guy is
I gave Billy Boyd a Leaves of Lórien brooch that was very important to me, and he just put it in his mouth for some damn reason before spitting it onto the ground.
And then he called me a liar and said I was really reaching.
I can't remember which disc, but they do a whole thing about what a consummate professional Viggo is. Some time after that story about the cast camping on site.
subjective eval, but Viggo also articulates his political/world beliefs remarkably well, and seems like a brilliant thinker overall. big fan, loved LOTR (then again, who didn't?). maybe im not watching enough of his stuff lately cus it feels like he went into hiding, save... "The Road" for sure and "Captain Fantastic"

Interesting u get giddy when they bow to the hobbits! I always get the deepest chills
I get a lump in my throat every time, man.
I straight up cried when I watched that scene last
Every single time.

My daughter and I watch the movie st least twice a week. I tear up every time at this scene.

Very well put.
Man crush for life!
This guy never stops to amaze me!
Yea he just zooms right past without amazing me! Very disrespectful
I saw him jogging and tossed him a knife that I wanted him to sign, but he just knocked it out of the air and kept going :( It's amazing what a jerk that guy is
That's just like Sean Bean, except I sent him some arrows to sign and he kept every one!
I gave Billy Boyd a Leaves of Lórien brooch that was very important to me, and he just put it in his mouth for some damn reason before spitting it onto the ground. And then he called me a liar and said I was really reaching.
Message for you sir!
I've always wondered what talent does this man NOT have... Acting, singing, writing, photographing... Sighs
And painting
I can't remember which disc, but they do a whole thing about what a consummate professional Viggo is. Some time after that story about the cast camping on site.
And a skilled equestrian.
Relevant flair
Drawing and sculpting as well, IRCC
Sword fighting too!
Bob Anderson said he was one of the best swordsman he ever trained. No small thing.
I bet he's not a great plumber. Look at that face. That's just not a plumber's face. That's probably it though.
He doesn't have the mustache or the Italian accent. A plumber should have good legs as well.
And languages. He speaks Spanish perfectly (with an Argentinian accent).
Well, he lived in Argentina as a child.

***looks over shoulder... "For Frodo" *winks
That is fairly impressive, considering it has been at least 13 years since he recorded that for the movie...

"Are you not entertained!?!?!"
The interviewer makes me cringe slightly, but Viggo absolutely killed it.
He reminds me of Charlie's Uncle off of Always Sunny
His hands are far too small. Have you seen Charlie's uncle's hands? They're huge!
Exactly, killaOR must be misremembering Uncle Jack as a man with small hands. Jack has big, masculine hands that tell a story of greatness.
He reminded me of nardwuar kind of
And doot doot a loot doo...
doot doot
"What is that?"
To be fair, even if he does know what that song is he still has to ask for the viewers watching who may not.
Sucks he was pressured into during it though. But of course, he kills it.
This is amazing. Thanks for sharing man.
You're welcome! :) I was surprised that this wasn't posted already!
Fuck... this is who should have been Roland Deschain.
there will be water if god wills it
1000%
Yeah but... Idris Elba though ❤
It's amazing how he still captures me heart after all these years
I think I need to rewatch RotK this weekend...
Just finished a LOTR marathon. Looks like I'll be doing another one.
He is and will always be my king. Make more movies, Viggo!
Oh wow this was awesome!
Praise be unto king elessar
"You're HAPPY now?" -> YES!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8ir8rVl2Z4 This one gets me too.

If I could have been part of anything that happend during my life time I would want to have been part of the original LotR trilogy.
My people. It was a historic shoot in every way. They don't make movies like that anymore.
That guy needs to back of viggo, but im happy he teased that song out of him
Yeah no one talks to the new king of Gondor like that!
Peter Travers sounds like the lawyer from always sunny. "Bring your kid."
My friends... You bow to no one.
Classy af
Today, today is a good day.
man what the hell, seeing him "old" like this really breaks my heart in some way...
I came.

Damn right, sir.
Hahaha! Why down-votes!? I laughed.
It's alright, down votes/up votes really aren't a big deal. Viggo is seriously awesome.
You deserved an up vote, my friend.
You as well - seeing as how someone down voted your original comment thinking it means anything.
Damn jerk-faces!
I want some more downvotes, please hand them out in my direction upset people of the subreddit. Viggo would not approve.
I kinda wish i could see him as aragorn again. Still im glad he questioned his place in the movie and got removed. Truly he was the best part of Lotr.
Vijo Morganstein was so great as Strider
