I have moved into a new condominium last month, and since then the unit above won't stop the noise including renovations, buzzing and vibrating, moving furniture, knocking, hammering... you name it.
The agent confirmed that there won't be any renovation or noises coming from the surrounding units when I asked him about this particular point. Now the noise is continuous and becomes unbearable and I become not able to sleep, study or work. As I work from home, this noise severely affected my work adherence and my peace of mind. I feel very much disappointed especially that neither the management nor the owner would help in that although I have provided them multiple videos as evidence. Neither the management nor the unit is informing the other neighbours about their renovation/noise works, or the start/end date, and what's worse is that the management refuses to provide the info about which unit is making the noise for an unknown reason, which makes the noise to continue happening forever claiming that it can be from any of the 100 units in there.
It makes me wonder... Have our condominiums become a renovation and deposit business makers and lost their meaning (peace and living space for residents)?
Would that be a valid reason to terminate my rental agreement?
Or what I should do?

For renovation work thereās really no other time that they could work tbh. They canāt be working during nights or weekends where more people would be at home resting.
Some management may only allow heavy noises (drilling) during the first half of the day, but youāre tough out of luck if you try to get them to ban all renovation work during working hours.
Thatās literally what working hours are for them.
You shouldnāt take the agentās promises at face value because they definitely canāt guarantee it. Renovation noises are part and parcel of living in a condo, especially a newly built project where plenty of people are moving in.
Even though management shouldāve announced and given out the info of the units with renovation works, if they are working within the limits of the approved hours, you canāt really do much about it.
The problem is they work outside the limits and the approved hours. For drilling it's been already one month now of continuous heavy drilling by an adgusent unit from 9-5 without any clear announcement or plan for it.
Ask the building manager for the letter of authorisation for the work and general strata rules. There's usually strict rules around work times. In my building it's 8am-6pm Monday to Saturday, no public holidays.
Record the conversation, if they refuse to provide then take your evidence and go file a police report, it takes 20 minutes. These are clear laws that are broken if they can't give you the document. Strata bodies are required to give authorisation for reno works and that info is available to all residents of the building, even if they live 20 floors away.
In fact record everything you can, both on film and recording time of day of work in a diary.
I doubt you could terminate the rental agreement without going through the small claims court first. Maybe telling the real estate agent you plan to go to small claims and that will make them ok with your terminating the lease but you can't just cancel it and say "oh it's loud somewhere in the building". That won't hold up in court. You need to do it properly or you will lose your desposit.
Just lodge a police report, there's no harm in doing so. It's not some serious thing that takes a lot of time. You don't have to go put on nice clothes and go to court or anything.

when your flight got rescheduled do you get an option to move flight? if you do can try move a day earlier/later time if it suits you better.

Took a nap at my living room this afternoon on the sofa dreaming about playing cards with a cousin at the table. Had trouble waking due to false awakening ā the classic partially obscured view that stays despite pushing or pulling the pillow away. Woke up after a short while, feeling lethargic and drank some water, arranging back the pillow and looked out the window to the gloomy afternoon before deciding to eat one of the buns I bought yesterday, tasting the mixture of sweet from the chili sauce and sour of the mayonnaise, thinking if I should be making cup of coffee to drink with it. ... then I woke up from the actual nap. False awakenings can be scary, annoying or fascinating depending on the type; today's was interesting because it was so very close to real with everything looking exactly like my living room with the exception of the coffee table that I played cards with my cousin on during the first dream. The second dream had my clothes hanger under the spinning fan, with the room slightly dim as if it was going to rain soon. Just finished the bun I bought yesterday. š

I have moved into a new condominium last month, and since then the unit above won't stop the noise including renovations, buzzing and vibrating, moving furniture, knocking, hammering... you name it. The agent confirmed that there won't be any renovation or noises coming from the surrounding units when I asked him about this particular point. Now the noise is continuous and becomes unbearable and I become not able to sleep, study or work. As I work from home, this noise severely affected my work adherence and my peace of mind. I feel very much disappointed especially that neither the management nor the owner would help in that although I have provided them multiple videos as evidence. Neither the management nor the unit is informing the other neighbours about their renovation/noise works, or the start/end date, and what's worse is that the management refuses to provide the info about which unit is making the noise for an unknown reason, which makes the noise to continue happening forever claiming that it can be from any of the 100 units in there. It makes me wonder... Have our condominiums become a renovation and deposit business makers and lost their meaning (peace and living space for residents)? Would that be a valid reason to terminate my rental agreement? Or what I should do? Your help is appreciated.
For renovation work thereās really no other time that they could work tbh. They canāt be working during nights or weekends where more people would be at home resting. Some management may only allow heavy noises (drilling) during the first half of the day, but youāre tough out of luck if you try to get them to ban all renovation work during working hours. Thatās literally what working hours are for them. You shouldnāt take the agentās promises at face value because they definitely canāt guarantee it. Renovation noises are part and parcel of living in a condo, especially a newly built project where plenty of people are moving in. Even though management shouldāve announced and given out the info of the units with renovation works, if they are working within the limits of the approved hours, you canāt really do much about it.
The problem is they work outside the limits and the approved hours. For drilling it's been already one month now of continuous heavy drilling by an adgusent unit from 9-5 without any clear announcement or plan for it.
Ask the building manager for the letter of authorisation for the work and general strata rules. There's usually strict rules around work times. In my building it's 8am-6pm Monday to Saturday, no public holidays. Record the conversation, if they refuse to provide then take your evidence and go file a police report, it takes 20 minutes. These are clear laws that are broken if they can't give you the document. Strata bodies are required to give authorisation for reno works and that info is available to all residents of the building, even if they live 20 floors away. In fact record everything you can, both on film and recording time of day of work in a diary. I doubt you could terminate the rental agreement without going through the small claims court first. Maybe telling the real estate agent you plan to go to small claims and that will make them ok with your terminating the lease but you can't just cancel it and say "oh it's loud somewhere in the building". That won't hold up in court. You need to do it properly or you will lose your desposit.
