Anyone knows any good piano class for adult beginner level? Preferably somewhere in Damansara area. I don't mind one-on-one or group lesson, as long as it's for newbies! TIA

dogeG9

You know those part time remote freelance jobs promising high salary up to 10k that are advertised on social media? Some even have their own websites. The scam will take place via WhatsApp if you approach. My question is, since your phone number is connected to your identity, couldn't the police work together with the cellular network companies and identify these scammers? And if the police are not able to do so, why not?

Krieger22

The local numbers can also be used as a relay for overseas callers. If said country's police can't find anything or refuse to do anything, the trail ends right then and there.

dogeG9

Can you elaborate more on this relay thing and how it works? ELI5 style

Krieger22

They get a mule to set up a burner SIM that's used as the "local" number by the VoIP service used to make the scam call. I still have the list of numbers used by some Indonesian would be scammers that I blocked. The more sophisticated scammers outright spoof a number that otherwise doesn't exist

Hi, I'm from Australia and planning to visit Malaysia on a stopover at the end of July. I've been to KL and Genting Highlands before. I'm in my 20s, male, coming on my own. I'm looking at spending 5 nights in Malaysia. Thoughts on 2 nights KL, then train & ferry to Georgetown, and 3 nights in Georgetown/Penang before flying back to Australia from Penang? (Arrive 6am Monday morning KL, take a Wed morning train from KL to Buttersworth, and fly out from Penang Saturday morning) I have a friend in KL so will stay with her while I'm there. Keen to go to Penang for the food and melting pot atmosphere that I've heard about. I love trains as a way to travel so definitely keen to use the train instead of flying to Penang even though it will take longer, especially if the train route is scenic. Would love to hear thoughts and suggestions on this itinerary.

[deleted]

Post again in around 8 hours since it's midnight now here in Malaysia, so you won't get a proper response

snel_

Sounds good! As you've visited KL before, 2 nights there and 3 in Penang seems like a good plan. Just enough time for you to catch up with your friend, maybe visit a few places you've missed out last time, and 3+ days in Penang is more than enough to have a good time here, especially sounds like you'd enjoy a more leisurely trip.

5ivesos

Great, thanks!

Hi semua, any recommendations for antique stores in Johor Bahru area? I’m specifically looking for some vintage glassware. Thanks!!

Chahaya

Login into my email since I forgot the password for jobstreet and saw my ex sent me an email, wishing me happy birthday days ago. I still blocked him on my phone even after one year. Still feeling emotional about what he did for 2 years so I guess it take longer time to truly move on. It is exhausted to keep giving during that time so I just huh when he said in the email he wants to be together again(after typical sorry words) So glad that I was super busy immediately after the break up so I dont have many free time to keep thinking and remembering. He makes me realize that being single and happy are better that being in a relationship while you're the only who keep compromise.

Parking fees help discourage car use and give space to those who need it the most. Getting rid of them is a bad idea, IMO.

Played Forza Horizon 5 for a bit, didn’t even Googled anything about it, and my recommendation is full of wheels and racing sim videos. I didn't even had any other racing title on my library, but tempted gila. G29 plus shifter for 800, worth it?

seatux

Horizon works fine with a controller. Seriously. Just buy a Xbox Series S/X controller and pair to bluetooth/type c cable to PC to use. Budget, KingKong2 controller. But buttons all Nintendo style, so must have muscle memory of a real Xbox controller first before using one in Forza Horizon.

Thebigbots

Yesh i know, but lagi feel lah dgn wheel

seatux

G29 is fine really for the money. While you are at it, Asseto Corsa is real cheap on Steam. That game really demands a wheel to game properly. Also recommend DIRT Rally 2 and save up for Forza Motorsport 8 next year.

Thebigbots

Yes thank you very much for the recommendations, will check them out

Honestly? In Malaysia we can only get 2 out of those 3, to date there isn't an option that ticks all 3 lmao From my personal experience (Currently using Digi, its been a few years since I last used Celcom and some family members are using Maxis/Hotlink) - Digi has value for money and coverage but not quality at times - Maxis has coverage and quality but no value for money - Celcom has value for money and quality but no coverage

Help. How does negotiating salary work? I got a verbal job offer, passed the interview and reference check. First, the HR was happy to consider my application with the expected salary I came up with. Until a week later, she asked me if I would accept an amount with RM200 less. I responded along the line, "I would like to remain the salary as I first requested, but will see how it goes". It's my first time getting a job, that's the best I could come up with, my bad. I figured they would call me with their last offer. Which I will take whatever the amount is. But no call yet, and they wanted me to join on July first.

TimeElise

Be careful if u go into the office and they have yet to respond to your answer. They might pull the sneaky and assuming you haven't sign anything yet, ask u sign the offer/start date letter with the already-reduced salary. Read your letter properly. Most probation period u can resign in a week, so if they pull weird shit, feel free to leave after a week or not sign the paper and walk out.

Ambitious_Ground_348

Didn't know it can come to this. Appreciate the reminder.

TimeElise

Sadly, many companies take advantage of fresh grads/newlings a lot, cos "young mah, and don't know a lot of things so let's exploit them!!!!" Just be very careful around these things. Best outcome, u could sue them for not following the letter (if written in black n white properly and they forgot to play sneaky), worst outcome, it's already written in the letter and u signed it but didn't read through so u have to bear the consequences

Hyperblitzing

If HR reduce your salary when it’s your first job then I would suggest just move on.

Ambitious_Ground_348

Appreciate your reply.

MrTammy

How is it possible for people to still not know how to fucking use a roundabout, stay in your own lane my godddd. I was left and he was middle, light turns green, I go to my left lane in the roundabout, guy speeds into my lane, brakes his car, looks at me and tells me to move. I wouldve fucking moved if your huge ass car got out of my lane.

aWitchonthisEarth

A lot of Malaysians Do Not know how to use the roundabout! Even my own sister asked 'Why are you using signal to come out, it's a roundabout what, road rules don't apply' The shock on our faces... entah siapa ajar She is one of those who will also, change lanes halfway within the RA and exit by going into any other lane, but hers! Suka hati only. When kena hon, she will be oblivious and grumble. Despite 3 others in the car telling her, the mistake!

MrTammy

That's just terrible, could show her the diagram of how a RA works and why it's beneficial for everyone to stay in their own lane before exiting

aWitchonthisEarth

I know. Hopeless one, explain many times on the kesalahan that she does. Her default answer is, roundabout what. Whatever that means! She is the type of aunty, that thinks 'hmm am not very good at driving, maybe getting a SUV would help' and proceeds to terrorize the roads with the same bad driving only in a bigger killing machine.

SmolDumpsterFire

True that, I remember there was a post here about a roundabout scenario they've experienced asking for what should've been done and the amount of people saying they should've switch lanes midway inside the roundabout was astounding.

MrTammy

Ugh I think I remember that thread, I wonder how many accidents those guys nearly caused. Should really include a roundabout obstacle when taking the license test

Nyets, in an apocalyptic scenario where an asteroid strikes the other side of the world and pushes the axis of the earth such that Malaysia is into what is now northern china, what steps would you take to survive?

dogeG9

Gather all the mandem and exploit everybody. We are officially in war of attrition against nature. Firstly my comrade Ming from the trucking business will manage logistics. He will pick us all up and head to the police academy. In the meantime, my comrade Muhammad who's a fledgling police officer will break and enter into storage and gather all inventory. Rifles, pistols, handcuffs, walkie talkies, protective gear, bullet proof vests, etc. People think of food due to impending scarcity and clothing due to drastic change in weather as they are important.. but it is not urgent. Our next destination is the medical facility which my comrade Shangkari is an experienced nurse works. On the way there we'll raid petrol stations for food water and petrol. I used to part time so I'm familiar with the ins and outs. At the medical facility we'll gather all but the most important things. oxygen supplies, the strongest painkillers, and antibiotics, in that order. All this while, any one of us with cellular capability will log on to the internet to figure out what the government's next plan of action is, but my bet's on sucking their thumbs and doing FUCKALL. Otherwise, it will be good to know where all the people are gathering and get updates on the situation across the country. We also have to figure out the scientific literature of an asteroid impact. From my limited knowledge, asteroid killed the dinosaurs because the smoke envelopes the earth for a long period of time. This lowers global temperature drastically, prevents the sun's rays from penetrating, and so vegetation growth halts. We are officially in a war of attrition with nature. Now we can think about hoarding as much food as possible. We'll make camp at the medical facility but only until we figure out a way to gather all our loved ones. the situation is dire. But we must act on the things we can control. Trust NOBODY. It's okay if nature gets me first but I'll be damned if I the homosapiens get me first. Shoot anyone that gets too close for comfort. Ignore all pleas for help. At least until we establish some form of stability. Once we're able to gather our loved ones, that's enough for me. I have no grand scheme of saving the world. It's enough that I can die in the arms of the people that I love. What's your plan?

malaysianzombie

> Firstly my comrade Ming from the trucking business will manage logistics. He will pick us all up and head to the police academy. Assuming we are talking about Klang Valley roads, this will be a problem. People will be panicking the moment it hits because we'll feel the shift. We'll face blockage everywhere because the idiots looking at their phones while they drive would have hit the guy in front or some idiotic cyclist or rider running a red light. Besides that, tectonic plates would have shifted, we could be facing quakes that would have cracked up our pathetic roads and highways that were designed to be broken constantly for lifetime maintenance. We'd be facing catastrophe level fires from overturned tankers who were speeding at the time. Roads would be a no go. The meeting would not happen or even if he got there in time, there would be no way out of town. Not to mention, people who still conform to authority would be flocking to police stations thinking they'd get help there. It's not going to look good because the cops would trying to hold back the crowd as well and some would break rank and flee. It would be chaos all around. The academy is a no go! Avoid the academy during a world ending event. > In the meantime, my comrade Muhammad who's a fledgling police officer will break and enter into storage and gather all inventory. Rifles, pistols, handcuffs, walkie talkies, protective gear, bullet proof vests, etc. Quite dangerous during ground zero to pull this off because there's always that one or two hoity toit who thinks they are still in control and power and if she see him looting the place, they might have shot him instead. It's either that or someone more senior might want to try restore order in the place so that's quite dangerous especially for Muhammad who's fledgling at that and not privy to the senior inner circles. Chances are the guns would be too locked up for him to obtain but he might be able to make away with some cuffs and talkies at best. And that's assuming his colleagues don't mug it off him on his way out. The petrol station is a bad idea at this point because people will be queuing to fill up at this point thinking they can balik kampung and wait this all out. Likely before you and the boys even get your truck parked, you'll be seeing some form of looter fighting each other. In the craze, there might even be some assault of the sexual nature because people are delirious at this point. There's a lot of pent up feelings and this kind of sudden chaos just trips a lot of neurountypicals. You're going to see people chasing someone onto the main road only to be rammed over by some rider speeding away. Just get out of town before roads leading out clog up. > At the medical facility we'll gather all but the most important things. oxygen supplies, the strongest painkillers, and antibiotics, in that order. Raiding the facility might be possible assuming it's not already crowded and full of injured people trying to get in as well. You'll have to contend with the people looking to stock up on their regular meds as well as the injured and there'll likely be a cordon of firefighters blocking the way to prevent anyone getting inside. The crowd will build up and break through as they shove their way in along with an ambulance. You'll see people clinging to the back of the van as it inches its way insides and some very brutish bomba personal pulling the guy off by the cuff causing them to fall on the gravel. Barely before the fallen can get up he'll be stepped over by the rest of the crowd looking for an in. It's not feasible to come here unless you started off inside or nearby the center at ground zero. > All this while, any one of us with cellular capability will log on to the internet to figure out what the government's next plan of action is, but my bet's on sucking their thumbs and doing FUCKALL. Otherwise, it will be good to know where all the people are gathering and get updates on the situation across the country. HAHAHAHHAHA. ITT if a meteor hits the world to the extent of shifting its axis, that's not just a dinosaur meteor. That's an earth out of sync meteor. That means we stop spinning. We stop spinning, we lose our gravitational field. We lose that, we start spiraling into the sun. We start spiraling into the sun it gets pretty hot. We don't have an 'after'. We just wait for the end. > We are officially in a war of attrition with nature. A zombie apocalypse is a war of attrition with nature. A world axis shifting meteor is just a war of acceptance with our souls. > Now we can think about hoarding as much food as possible. We'll make camp at the medical facility but only until we figure out a way to gather all our loved ones. This should be possible by day 4 or 5 from ground zero. We assume the cordon is broken. People flush into the medicals only to realize there's no help to be given. After the fighting and shooting starts and ends. After people flee the center and assuming the ones left behind are friendly enough or see you and your boys are valuable enough to keep around. Then yeah it sounds like it could work out. Assuming there isn't a further clash of personalities or egos. Assuming your friends are happy to help clear the corpses. Assuming no other group comes along and tries to take over the facility. And there's a way to keep the center sealed from further stragglers and families looking for a place for shelter. And then there'll be either the extreme heat or cold. And assuming your minds haven't already broken from seeing everything that's gone down. And that the loved ones are just as capable of surviving the onslaught of the situation. > the situation is dire. But we must act on the things we can control. Trust NOBODY. It's okay if nature gets me first but I'll be damned if I the homosapiens get me first. Shoot anyone that gets too close for comfort. Ignore all pleas for help. At least until we establish some form of stability. Good luck on that one. Muhammad, Ming and Shangkari might have very different views on how some situations are handled given their beliefs and backgrounds. Can Shangkari ignore all pleas for help? Would Muhammad be alright with you in charge? Will Ming stay with your group once he realizes his family is trapped in some deity forsaken temple the other side of town and there's rumors of riots and gang fights over there. > Once we're able to gather our loved ones, that's enough for me. I have no grand scheme of saving the world. It's enough that I can die in the arms of the people that I love. You might not want to stay in the medical facility for that then. Gotta get on the move if you want to group up with them. > What's your plan? Finally get some downtime for myself to write a novel or something.

dogeG9

On the contrary Earth would spin even faster, if anything, because of the large amount of energy created by the asteroid. An asteroid of such a magnitude would just kill literally everyone on impact. But for the sake of being a good sport and having a bit of imagination, let's assume we survived the immediate impact lah. Now, if the earth is accelerating towards the sun, it really is doom. But that doesn't change the fact that I have to find my loved ones and secure the essentials. Me and the mandem have an unshakeable bond as we were all childhood friends. And though I may take the initiative in getting the ball rolling, I don't presume to take the lead. Mutiny or a coup within the group is therefore is a non-issue. We'll take the best solution. And I think the best solution is to gather the essentials first, then gather our loved ones. Yes, let's assume it's Klang Valley. I've an obsession with drones, it's kinda like my side hobby. I've amassed a large collection together with any support items. With it I chartered a route with the least resistance. Granted, least does not equal zero. If push comes to shove, Ming's truck (fitted with whatever enhancements he thinks useful) will bulldoze it's way through debris, slowly but surely. But ok, I think your point is valid, and I accept the possibility of having to escape to the academy on foot. As a fledgling, Muhammad was tasked with the graveyard shift. This was when the asteroid had hit. He would have first access to storage with little resistance. Muhammad may be a recruit, but he ain't a bitch. He'll get us weapons. He understands that institutionalised values are redundant in the face of unforeseen circumstances. There may be a key to storage if it's too "locked up" and if it's in the possession of his immediate superior, I have confidence he makes the necessary persuasions. I don't think people's first reaction of an asteroid impact is to go to the police academy for "safety". It's counterintuitive. More likely to stay home and turn on the tv. Malaysian police doesn't exactly instill confidence in the masses. But ok, I accept your point that there is some risk of a fall out at the police academy. But I really think the rewards warrant the risk. This is a necessary stop. Get rich or die trying. We'll use the police car if the truck idea is a dud. Once we have guns, raiding petrol stations becomes manageable, or possible. Don't forget, we can masquerade in police uniforms. Obviously if the station is crowded, chaotic, presence of authority, don't raid that station lah. Raid the next one. Just be smart and calculated about it. But the bottom line is we need fuel and essentials. You can say the same for any place. 99 supermarket, AA pharmacy, McDonald's, etc. Raiding the facility is actually the most difficult part of the plan because the hospital will always have staff and patients. but I think stocking regular meds people will just drive to their local pharmacy or clinic. Nearer and easier access. But because we have Shangkari on our team, we get in via back entrance. I question whether shootings will be a regular occurrence post impact. Malaysia is not a gun society. Only the police and military have guns and this works in our favour. We'll camp at the medical facility because the cordon keeps us safe and we have a discreet route in and out of the premises. Don't forget, police uniforms. I can't stress enough how important it is to get to the police academy first before all else. We'll transmit the location to our loved ones to rendezvous. It isn't wise to seek them out. It's better for them to seek us out. If it's too dangerous, stay put until unrest settles. And if there's no electricity or wifi or whatever that's a whole other can of worms lah so for the sake of simplicity and plot armour- phones still work. But ok I accept your point, Ming has a bed ridden grandmother on the other side of town. I wont stop him if he decides to go. But I'm undecided whether to follow if it's only been 24 hours post impact. This one will depend on the overall situation. But if te debris has settled and unrest has calmed a little, then ok I'm down to helping Ming. And that's that. phew typing on the phone for this sure ain't easy 😂 but it's fun to think about haha

malaysianzombie

ooh yeah. phone written apocalypse lit is the best. i don't think the earth would spin faster due to impact... because if that were the case that'd be like some space entity playing snooker and we'd be experiencing some very funky day and night cycle which would be really interesting to experience. But given the flimsy science I know, that would also mean our people/cars and things are going to start flying off the rock at some point.. our gravity only works because we're this slow moving. Something that could offset the speed of our rotation is probably going to mess with the forces here so buildings are going to be seen ripped apart by the inertia of the spin and we'd be facing some major wind storms as our atmosphere tears up. but yeah i see your point about the academy. I imagine people who've been to the academy would also know about it and figure the same. Muhammad is going to meet resistance from his colleagues somehow and he'll not turn up on time with the goods prompting you guys to have to break in and see him getting beaten down by some very typical asshole cop types and you guys will have to spend some time getting to free him, stealing the stolen armaments and try to sneak out which would likely end up in some firefight somehow as you guys make your way to the garage section and get in a van. To complicate matters, Ming, the big dude he is is likely gonna get hit in a leg and that'll mean you or Muhammad has to drive the car. But you should manage the petrol station easly with the guns. Assuming of course chaos hasn't already broken loose. Don't think your uniforms will do much at the station but you might be able to walk in with Muhammad by firing blanks into the air. Assuming some rempit doesn't come ram you guys from behind and try to grab at the gun, it might just scare the people away. Still it'll be a large crowd to handle. Unless you go for the smaller pumps and lesser popular outlets especially the ones in the middle of dingy newly set up housing developments. Avoid the major ones. You'll have to visit Shangkari's medical facility because every place's layout is going to be different. And again assuming it's not a total buzzkill when you get there. But yeah the site staff are going to be a problem. There'll likely be goody two shoe doctors who think they should stay behind and try to save as many and also the security and those who likely have nowhere to go or run. I'd say there's just enough guns and rifles around to hear some form of shooting. Not as prevalent as in the US of course but some of our coppers and guards do carry the arms so if you ever need weapons watch out for fresh crashes involving police vehicles and search the bodies. That might be easier than skulking around large residences unless it's day 4-5 when most of the chaos has shifted away from the buildings. I think people stay at home and watch TV if it's a plane crashing into a few towers but a meteor hitting the planet causing enough of a shockwave that we'd feel things shaking and day and night to cycle through, think people are going to want to run this time. At least those who are separated from their loved ones. We have to assume cell towers may not work because the cables are gone. It's too easy if the cells work anyway. And the offchance of a tsunami hitting all the way into the KV region. There'll be floods and crazy winds. It'll be glorious and horrendous at the same time. You'll have to rendezvous with your loved ones under the assumption that they'll either stay put when shit hits or might rush to the next best nearest location. And that's your best bet just like Ming's best bet is to make the road for his grandma after you've managed to force one of our cowardly doctors and a brave nurse at gunpoint to fix his wound. He'll limp though and that'll make his chances really bad. Muhammad might actually want to join him because Muhammad has no one else here. His whole family's back in one of the godforsaken backwater towns so he'll want Ming's help to get to those I suppose. It comes down to you then, whether you think your plan to stay at the medical center is worth it with the remaining folks, like the doctor you just pulled a gun on. Or hit the road once again with the mandem, or split up and search for your loved ones so you can die together with them. In either cases, good luck and thanks for sharing!

dogeG9

Yup and thank you for the world building!! Fr imagine night turns to day every 4 hours..I'll pay money to watch that movie. This is much better than Mat Kilau haha. Actually now that I deep it, if an asteroid that big slams into earth we would know about it months, or even years, before the impact lol

krakaturia

In one year no plants is alive. All animals already dead. Probably trying to decide when and how to choose to die rather than starve.

[deleted]

An impact that size is an Earth-ending event. It'd blast a chunk of the earth into orbit like how the moon was formed 4 billion years ago. I'd stand outside and make sure I die sooner rather than live in the hellscape that will soon follow.

ChubbyTrain

No steps to survive necessary. An impact that can do that is a world killer.

amon_meiz

I wont survive. Probably run towards that asteroid so it will kill me

ChubbyTrain

probably overfeed myself so i can have a nice layer of fat for winter. move back to my parents' house. dig a hole there. build a basement so i can have a warm place to stay in winter. man, we'll be fucked if blackout happens. have to figure out the water supply too. our pipes are not built for winter. plant bamboo so i can have firewood.

[deleted]

In makan-ning Indian Banana Leaf Rice, do we have to make a hole with our rice so they can pour the kuah or no need ah

auntycat

Went to Banana Bro today and they just left the kuah container there. The whole thing. I looked around and memang every table got their own kuah tank. So in that case can do as you please, pour into rice hole or rice mountain! Though if there's an Amon fella pouring kuah straight into his mouth i won't be too pleased lol

amon_meiz

I usually ask them to pour into my mouth. Skip the middle process

Live-Implement9142

retail sales person/ fastfood workers, why do you stay in Malaysia instead of going overseas like Singapore, UK, Australia etc? You get paid a better currencies overseas

karlkry

which store want to take them?

Live-Implement9142

i not sure whether they want malaysians, but pretty sure most stores are hiring in Singapore

cikkamsiah

Next time you buy your mcd, ask the cashier why is he/she there and not in other countries 🤦‍♂️

PendekarBesiBuruk

> why do you stay in Malaysia instead of going overseas You are saying like as if anyone can just show up and start working in a foreign country. Even the Bangladeshis and the Indonesians can't do that in Malaysia

Live-Implement9142

just that I noticed a lot of openings in singapore restaurants malls airports hotels etc that don't requires degree. and wonder why they chose to stay in Malaysia instead I really think that it won't be thatt hard for malaysian to go sg to get those jobs

PendekarBesiBuruk

Because there exist a thing called "visa", summer child. Locals here can't even get a job without a whole checklist of requirements to fulfill, just ask the dude who was looking for a simple restaurant job

[deleted]

>retail sales person/ fastfood workers There's no UK visa specifically to come in from abroad for the "unskilled worker" sector (with exception for 6-month agriculture visa). Previously these positions would be filled by eastern european EU workers, after Brexit they're pushing for locals. Even foreigners who studied in the UK are finding it hard to get a job there now.

Live-Implement9142

All that is left is Singapore then. Just felt weird why restaurants etc unable to fill positions

[deleted]

I think many are unwilling to go back abroad for now. Living abroad is psychologically taxing if you don't have a strong safety net. Having to constantly wory about visas, health insurance, finding your way around with no support wears you down and even more so during the pandemic.

faern

no support structure living like immigrant, no healthcare. Getting into golden tier country is hard as fuck. Is this even a question? Why?

Live-Implement9142

for Aus and Singapore its not really that hard, (UK and others not sure) alot of openings due to local not wanting to do those jobs, go around any malls in SG u will see almost 90 percent have "hiring" advertised on their front door edit: ok maybe just singapore not that hard for these jobs, but seems like alot restaurants/malls rather lack staff than pay levy and go thru the process

[deleted]

Immigration and visa is a tightly controlled process. Many years ago, australia had a points system to determine who was eligible to get a 5 year visa (ironically called a permanent residency, or PR). If your age is in a the preferred range, you get 10 points. If older, 5 points. If even older, zero. If you studied up to degree in any of these fields, you get 40 points. If study these other fields of study, 30 points. If some really low demand degree, 10 points. Extra 10 points if you have masters. Extra 5 points if you have PhD. If you have work experience in these jobs (hair stylist, plumber, chef...etc), you get 30 points. If you have investment of A$250,000 in australia, you get 25 points. On and on it goes. If your total points is 140, then you quality to apply. All countries have a mechanism to prevent too many people coming in. The country's infrastructure was built by earlier people's hard work (or conquering other countries), and if you or your grandfather didn't help build this country why should you share in it's wealth? Not only australia, singapore or USA is strict. Malaysia is also very strict. You can read a lot of malaysian citizens who married a foreigner. Even getting a long term stay visa is a REAL pain in the arse. Not to mention trying to get PR or god forbid, citizenship. Or getting your CHILDREN to be malaysian citizen... that's another shit show. If you're a Malaysian woman with a foreign husband, it's SUPER hard to get the kids Malaysian citizenship. Basically, you only want to let in people who can help the country. Or let in people of they type that the voters will not complain.

1_World

Student Visa to Canada is being handed out like candy to basically anyone who wants one. Also, Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) program puts you on a 2-year path to Permanent Resident (PR) status, which leads to citizenship. TFW program allows for all skill level jobs, including retail, clerk, cook, etc. We have millions of Philippinos and Indians here across all of Canada, in small towns and big cities who have taken advantage of these programs. I've always wondered why Malaysians and Indonesians haven't done the same.

SmolDumpsterFire

The visa process won't allow it. If I'm not wrong, nowadays there's a minimum salary someone has to earn in order to be given a work visa to Singapore (something like SGD 5k per month or I might be wrong) and every Singaporean in the company has to earn above a certain limit before their government will even entertain a work visa application. Other countries probably run similarly for their visa processes, they won't allow work visa applications for low level jobs that can easily be filled unless there's a very dire shortage. You could use a work-holiday visa to Australia / New Zealand but even those countries are now scrutinizing applications from Malaysia because of people consistently overstaying their visa trying to remain there. Edit: Actually, even under dire shortages, restaurants or retail shops probably won't even consider applying work visa for people just because of the cost and time needed. Its just not worth the cost and the risk of your cost not paying off if the employee ends up changing job.

icemountain87

> something like SGD 5k per month or I might be wrong There are different "tiers" of work visa in SG. The one with the SGD 5k limit is for the Employment Pass which is meant for professionals or high skilled workers. For mid-skilled workers, there is the S-Pass with minimum salary of SGD 2.5k. For the service / F&B sector that OP mentioned, this is under the Work Permit. Glancing through the government website, I think there's no qualifying salary for the permit but there are other criteria to fulfil.

SmolDumpsterFire

Ahh okk, I didn't end up researching on that. A quick glance seems like it mostly comes down to the need for the employer to pay a monthly levy (SGD 400 \~ 800 depending on ratio of Singaporeans to Malaysians employed), the quota that they still need to hire a certain number of Singaporeans before they can hire a foreigner (at least 65% of the company workforce has to be Singaporeans), and the hassle of the process.

Sn0ozez7zz

Maybe because you also need to spend in the currency you earn

Live-Implement9142

but the currency u save is stronger currency too, and the eating cost tbh is so much lower in Singapore with plenty options

amon_meiz

Great news. [Persona 5 royal on xbox & windows](https://i.imgur.com/eOxnVGp.png)will come with all of it's DLCs Those who are interested in this game. But haven't yet cuz it's exclusive to ps, to me to jump in and experience the best jrpg ever made 👍, Oct 21st

Zanely1633

Yea, this is what I tell myself when I buy those games in my backlog...

amon_meiz

Please. What game u have in ur backlog that even close to the excellence of persona 5 royal 😤

Tomichin

Hey guys, can anyone explain to my simple brain what the difference between basic salary and allowance? I search the google already, but I don't understand what the difference. PS this is my first job.

Zanely1633

I also not sure myself as the allowance is not handled uniformly across different company, but 2 things: 1) Employer usually cannot touch your basic salary but they could easily deduct your allowance. 2) It depends on what type of allowance, as far as I know some of the allowances are not taxable and would not count towards the incoming tax. You might want to find out from your HR or finance though, whoever calculate your payroll or calculate the total incoming of the year for you.

TheV_game

Not sure how your company works. Allowance is something that is added extra ontop of your basic salary. Minimum basic salary is rm1500, but company may pay you extra allowance such as handphone allowance, OT allowance and etc.

7Seas_ofRyhme

What shop should I look for to laminate my cards ? (Pokemon card etc.) Does a standard printing store provide such services here ? How much would it cost ?

Zanely1633

Stationery shop, bookshop or printing shop should have laminating service, price depends on the shop, A4 size should cost about RM2 I think. If you have a lot to laminate and would be laminating long term, consider to get a laminator yourself, the process is easy and fast.

7Seas_ofRyhme

Thanks for the info.

[deleted]

laminate is permanent right? buy the plastic sleeve

7Seas_ofRyhme

Yeah, permanent things.

[deleted]

It probably won't cost much, maybe RM1-2. But why?

7Seas_ofRyhme

RM1-2 for how many cards ? A single one ? Just curious, I was thinking whether to sleeve my playing cards or laminate them straight haha

[deleted]

IMO sleeves would be better. Lamination is permanent and damaging. Plus, IIRC, sleeved cards can be used for competitions too.

7Seas_ofRyhme

Got it. Thanks for sharing your opinions on this.

amon_meiz

Yeah. Keeping it in case is better imo Like this https://shopee.com.my/product/143087201/15718390229?smtt=0.56657547-1656312969.9

someone that I admired finally knows my name. I thought he wouldn't as I haven't introduced myself but a bit disappointed since I really want to give him proper intro.

krossfire42

Starting my 16/8 intermittent fasting + 3 days on weekday cardio today. Trying to lose weight until it reaches my pre-pandemic days and more. I don't know if I'm able to do it in 3 months but I'm hoping for some noticeable progress in a month. Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

dahteabagger

If your plan is to lose weight, the main thing is just calories in < calories out. You don't need IF for that. You could still act on your urges and overeat within that time window. You should take note of your daily diet and cut out one item from your daily routine, and monitor your weight weekly. Weugh yourself first thing in the morning after going to shit.

forcebubble

A big chunk of it alongside from maintaining the calorie deficit is the mental aspect; avoid going overboard and conditioning the mind to associate this with suffering which would more or less derail the goal.

Purped

Does Mahsing is a good and reputable developer ? Im thinking of buying a house and do you guys have any other advise aside of price range are within budget and recognized developer ?

23_007

Just went to my friends property, recently finished build in sentul. After seeing this and the showroom in cheras, I, personally will stay far far far away from mah sing projects. For my friend’s place, the wall is “thin” someone was drilling at 8-9pm at night and he checked was a few floors up, however it was really loud as thou the drilling is just a floor above. That being said, if they can drill at 8-9pm, their security is questionable. Take that what you will. I suggest if for own stay, rent at the condo for a year then decide if you like the condo. Then you can have a clear pro and con

[deleted]

Funny, Mah Sing's development quality is really good. Speaking from past experience and being an owner of several.

Purped

Omg lucky i ask here first because i see one of thier range are trending in tiktok fyp page and by looking at the video, all seems nice. I guess i shall at least visit their showroom first Do you have any recommendation of good developer ?

23_007

Sorry, me and my SO are also still searching 🥲

TimeElise

u can try asking in r/MalaysianPF since there's a property tag there

[deleted]

check our their projects and you will see that it's a lot of people in a small area. I heard their quality is not that great but to be honest, rather a reputable one so you can get then to fix the defects.

amon_meiz

I heard long long time ago they sorta problematic Maybe now already improve

Purped

Ooh really ? I saw their surrounding was quite nice almost similar with Eco with jogging/bicycle track but seems like most people said avoid mahsing. Really wanted to know more about them as their price range was quite okay for me with that kind of ammenities

Just realised that I have been driving around without fixing the new road tax onto the car since taking the old one down almost a month ago. 😆

seatux

>Just realised that I have been driving around without fixing the new road tax onto the car since taking the old one down almost a month ago. 😆 Today end of month and Polis is looking for easy excuses like road tax mati to collect end month bonus.

[deleted]

I once found a 2 year old road tax still in the MYEG envelope in the car glove box... When i was digging around for the latest road tax because i haven't put it up. Luckily the polis didn't see i had *that* in the glove box too, if not sure kena. I apologised for not doimg it properly, told him forgot to put, but already got it here. He let me go without a fine.

redfournine

What is the car loan rate for second hand car now ? I got 3.90% from MBB and PBB, 3.96% from HLB. Crazyyy high
