Throw some dirt and rocks on the floor. Add some cave paintings to the walls. Build a fire in the middle of the room. Throw away all your clothes and electronics. Really go for it.
It’s giving sophomore year of college stoner vibes. That’s not totally a bad thing if you make it feel like a deliberate design choice instead of a flea market in your home. Your space feels cluttered. Like I get having a lot of stuff and nowhere to put it, but tidying the random stuff on the floor at the edges will go a long way towards making the space feel cohesive.
Also, get a door. That hallway/stairs looks really sloppy and not inviting.
I’d maybe spend a bit more to properly affix that sound board. All you need is spray adhesive, snack that on some cardboard and then tack that to the wall.
Maybe less fake plants. This looks so busy!
The foam is sound deadening material, and I’m guessing that’s what the towels and clothes are for too. But I have no idea why it’s on the stairs like that. I guess they’re trying to minimize the noise from upstairs, or minimize their own noise.
Right, I knew the pads are for sound dampening, but usually they are used in an enclosed space, like a room. Not sure why they would use it in the stairwell..
Like I said in my post, I’m guessing it’s for stopping noise from traveling up or down the stairwell since they said they don’t have a door. Seems a bit misguided though.
Yeah like the stairs are already carpeted…
Those cheap foam panels from eBay barely do anything anyway. Small amount of high frequency attenuation if placed at the right reflection points but that’s about it. Not going to do much about someone thumping down the stairs.
>thumping down the stairs
This is just a guess, and again I think OP’s setup is ridiculous, but I think it’s more for conversation/music/general noise since they don’t have a door. I would assume OP is pretty much the only one using the stairs, but that they’re trying to use the foam to block the sounds of their upstairs roommates or the sounds of whatever is happening in their own room.
Maybe some mud pies to fertilize the plants too. You have plenty of leaf slices to use around your place so you shouldn’t really get mud pie on your hands.
Your chairs all look a little uncomfortable to me. Perhaps it’s just me, but I would say a matching chair, a side table and an ottoman for the center of your entertainment area.
this looks like a chaotic jungle tbh. I definitely wouldn't add anything. is there even room for more? there's a lot you could get rid of or just tidy up what you do have... looks so messy
I think top priority is a little loveseat or sofa and a coffee table.
If you wanna live in a jungle I think it's neat and appreciate the creativity.
I like the clusters of art prints. They could be arranged a little more intentionally and I think it would make a big difference. Maybe it's my designer brain but I'm dying to rearrange all that.
Center the no parking above the window.
Prints above the bed: straighten out, place the big one in the middle, center it, small ones centered vertically spaced evenly from it.
Left of window: these could look nice in a cleaner circle or diamond.
Right of window: The alternating is fun but align the top and bottom prints to be the same height as the highest and lowest prints on the left.
The maps needs more space between them if possible.
Cool apartment, enjoy your space :)
i loooooove all the plants!! i’ve noticed some people are hating on it but as a woowoo hippie girl- love that.
if anything, i would recommend a love seat or a futon and more fairy lights- maybe going down the stairs?
Remove the plants and things all over the walls. This place is giving me anxiety.
White space is a thing.
Also vines should not be wrapped around power outlets. It’s a fire hazard.
please invest in a proper couch or get one for almost free on any garage sale or market place. The camping chair is not a vibe. Also be careful about wrapping plastic plants aroung electronics, they are very flammable.
You have too much going on
its overwhelming
I think you need to work on the space a bit like remove some items and find a way to store them neatly
I get that you're going for a maximalist look but there's just too much going on which makes the place look untidy
Example remove the green grass carpet behind the TV
Remove the foam and the drapes
Sometimes less is more
you have a lovely space to work with this room can be amazing if you have less clutter
idk but like, ew.
on second thought after removing the fake shit on your ceiling and the creepy stairway dressing that looks like it’s trying to muffle the sound of your bong and ‘transport’ me somewhere, all you rly need is a small couch in place of your camp chair.
Question for anyone in the replies: what art style would you call the flag/tapestry over the window in pics 2 and 3? I want something in that same style but don’t know what I should look up
Honestly? A soundbar for your tv. Tv speakers are both shitty and rear-firing. Shooting them into that little alcove AND into wall hangings is gonna muffle them like mad. $50 you’re in *subtitles always on* gang
i like it!!!! i love eclectic plant-y stuff lol. i feel like a rug could MAYBE bring the space together, too — but it could make it feel cramped with the busy ceiling. food for thought i suppose.
Your room is actually big but the vines are making it feel small and claustrophobic. I get that it’s your vibe, but I think you’d be amazed how massive your room will feel if you toss those things and the tapestries. Get real blinds/curtains. If you *must* keep the tapestries, tack them on your ceiling or the stairwell.
add some cobwebs, and scoop a pile of horse shit to get flies in the room. you really want nature to remove your deposit it seems.
i get that you TRIED to make it outdoor-y but its both too much and too little. you didnt even set up a tent or fake rock wall panels
Bonsai!
But for real. No potted plant will ever look half as cool as a potted tree. And I have a bioluminescent petunia. Plant that tree.
Although, it looks like all of your plants were potted yesterday, so maybe you’re not stable enough for the commitment.
Nightshade. The feng shui produced by the plant placement would be improved by adding a moderate health risk in plain sight that most people won’t even recognize.
“Hey be careful bro. Your beer bumping all into those leaves. Cmon man!”
Add better seating. Maybe a bed skirt
IF you keep the sound dampening squares, cover them up with something. You don't want cheap to LOOK cheap.
And, last but not least. Please, get rid of every (and I mean EVERY) plant, flower, vine, etc that is not an actual living, growing plant. Especially whatever that thing is behind the TV.
I think you're going for eclectic maximalism, but what you've got is tacky mess. I'm not trying to be mean, just honest. I really like most of your artwork, fabrics, etc and I love plants. You just need to learn how to curate what you have.
Good luck to you and please post a follow-up when you get things cleaned up a bit. TONS of potential with this space!
Maybe add a door and organize? Maybe don't? Iunno are you a hippy? Are all your friends and girlfriends hippies too? If this is how you want to present yourself to your guests then you do you. To me this room is like saying "Hello, I'm enlightened because I do drugs." I was that guy too.
Your room is like a reflection of your identity and your values. So consider how you want to present yourself to the people you invite over, and hey man I'm not trying to rip on you for living your life how you want to. My room looked similar before I went full on corpo drone mode and now my values have shifted and I want my image to be of someone who is organized, professional, and driven. When I retire, I will probably be a hippy again.
The glorious chaos of the plants would be even more glorious if there was some structured/organized places for the eye to fall, for contrast.
Can you frame all your maps and prints (even with rough/found wood)? And then organize them with intentionality, spacing them just a little way apart from each other but not in a rigid grid?
I think that’d look amazinger.
?
Bed skirt. Other than that don’t change a thing. This is a carefully curated masterpiece. So many places on here lack a personality but yours exudes it. It’s a real space.
Throw some dirt and rocks on the floor. Add some cave paintings to the walls. Build a fire in the middle of the room. Throw away all your clothes and electronics. Really go for it.
Lmao
The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race.
The Neolithic Revolution was the ruin of humanity.
Best comment I’ve seen in this sub
agreed
Def some animal carcasses artfully arranged to honor your ancestors.
A plant, I think.
Fire extinguisher. A big one.
And **NOT** fire

sophomore year stoner vibes, era of the tapestry
::sad fire marshal noises::
Wtf is going on
Birds. No cages necessary.
I’d maybe spend a bit more to properly affix that sound board. All you need is spray adhesive, snack that on some cardboard and then tack that to the wall. Maybe less fake plants. This looks so busy!
I don’t think you need to add any more things. Maybe the opposite?
A machete
Some plants will definitely help
What the fuck is happening on the staircase?? Why is the wall lined with foam and clothing?
The foam is sound deadening material, and I’m guessing that’s what the towels and clothes are for too. But I have no idea why it’s on the stairs like that. I guess they’re trying to minimize the noise from upstairs, or minimize their own noise.

That foam doesn’t actually work lol
Yup that’s what I said my second comment. I’m just talking about OP’s thought process. Not what actually works.
Lamps with different colours. You are building a den
try making swamp in the middle
Maybe some mud pies to fertilize the plants too. You have plenty of leaf slices to use around your place so you shouldn’t really get mud pie on your hands.
Stand against the wall wearing a ghillie suit.
Your chairs all look a little uncomfortable to me. Perhaps it’s just me, but I would say a matching chair, a side table and an ottoman for the center of your entertainment area.
Ngl I'd take the fake vines off the ceiling, if that's your vibe then more power to ya but it just feels overcrowded.
I feel like it’s missing some green, try maybe adding some plants, should really live up the place!
you should add some mushrooms to your digestive system
Why are those pillows dirty on the floor next to your folding chair. Do you not have a closet?
I salvaged them from someone front yard after they were gonna throw them out. They were my leg rest
My guy. Pillows are fairly inexpensive. Spend less money on neon signs and more money on fresh pillows.
How do you not know if there’s bed bugs from that pillow? It’s visibly dirty my friend
this looks like a chaotic jungle tbh. I definitely wouldn't add anything. is there even room for more? there's a lot you could get rid of or just tidy up what you do have... looks so messy
I'm not trying to be rude at all, but I don't understand what is going on here.
You need to subtract.
I would remove some stuff honestly. Its pretty cluttered.
Looks like poison ivy from Batman and Robin movie lives there. WTF dude
A better question… what should you remove
I think top priority is a little loveseat or sofa and a coffee table. If you wanna live in a jungle I think it's neat and appreciate the creativity. I like the clusters of art prints. What’s that purple pothos-looking plant in the first pic?
i think it’s a tradescantia
How moist is the room here? I think at this point you need to factor that in to your furniture purchases.
Up to date fire alarm.
Maybe remove some
Get some more sound proofing hoodies
Have you thought about getting some houseplants?
please invest in a proper couch or get one for almost free on any garage sale or market place. The camping chair is not a vibe. Also be careful about wrapping plastic plants aroung electronics, they are very flammable.
This place is freaking me out. Get proper long flowy windows curtains Add storage boxes to remove some decor
My dude found Jumanji.
Uhhhh
Some class and not like you are a teenager
Your living room looks so busy
Be careful with the Brita in the sun. It can grow algae that way
Thank you for your knowledge. It will be moved now.
Better question: What should you remove?
A trash bag to throw everything into.
A large wicker or rattan floor covering…
You have too much going on its overwhelming I think you need to work on the space a bit like remove some items and find a way to store them neatly I get that you're going for a maximalist look but there's just too much going on which makes the place look untidy Example remove the green grass carpet behind the TV Remove the foam and the drapes Sometimes less is more you have a lovely space to work with this room can be amazing if you have less clutter
Any suggestions accepted, but I'm going for price efficient here
More plants. You've got a fever and the only prescription is more plants.
idk but like, ew. on second thought after removing the fake shit on your ceiling and the creepy stairway dressing that looks like it’s trying to muffle the sound of your bong and ‘transport’ me somewhere, all you rly need is a small couch in place of your camp chair.
Dude, make your fuckin bed. And grow some weed.
Hahaha you just can't see it, but the weed might be in a blue paisley pot on the window seal, allegedly
Fuckin A
Are you a 15 yr old hippie chick?!
Add a bed for me, this place looks dope af
Headboard. That’s it
I always love seeing art on the walls
A argentinasaurus
Some humans
Needs more greenery
Rgb! You can never have too much of it 😃
more plants.
Oxygen via an open window
More lights !!!
🐍
Sprinklers?
The space is kind of barren…could use a plant honestly
This room could fully support a mushroom lamp
3 cats
The oxygen is top tier in that room
I love it. Kinda bohemian
Green painted flowers on the walll mhm
Question for anyone in the replies: what art style would you call the flag/tapestry over the window in pics 2 and 3? I want something in that same style but don’t know what I should look up
[удалено]
You never learned how to read?
W room
Get a dehumidifier. You probably have mold issues
A pet lizard you can carry around to snipe bugs out of your room
I don’t know but I looovvveeee that chair!! WOWSERS!!
And what’s all those papers in the tree plant?
Add some wild animals and your look will be completed
more plants! The solution is always more plants!
My dude it’s fine I guess if this is how you want your room to look but you should really make your bed up before taking pics.
The sound attenuation wall looks super amateurish with them sticking out like that.
my bed please I'm moving in
You really ought to have more plants. 😂🤣
More plants
I think this is a first where you should subtract, not add. The staircase is my favorite.
A cat.
Can’t wait to see this on r/homedecoratingCJ.
I would pick up the foam wall things from your hammock and put them back on the wall
Herbicide
A cat 🐈
Plant
A Dreamcatcher and a fairy floating from the ceiling
I like your room. Your room looks comfortable.
Less
i feel like you either have really high quality drugs and are very fun to be around or extremely annoying to be around
Maybe a heat rock
Renters insurance.
Honestly? A soundbar for your tv. Tv speakers are both shitty and rear-firing. Shooting them into that little alcove AND into wall hangings is gonna muffle them like mad. $50 you’re in *subtitles always on* gang

I wanna date you
Moar plants!
What should you remove
RoundUp
Just being honest here... This does not look good.
Needs more fake plants
Where is the growroom ? 💨
Needs more Robin Williams. And a few more Kandinsky prints
Less
A tree

I would invest in a dehumidifier mate, otherwise this will get moldy af..
A cat!
Bonsai! But for real. No potted plant will ever look half as cool as a potted tree. And I have a bioluminescent petunia. Plant that tree. Although, it looks like all of your plants were potted yesterday, so maybe you’re not stable enough for the commitment.
Water! The plants should thrive in that window and make the room beautiful.
every phot on the wall is crooked, is that intentional?
I like it a lot ! What are all these maps ?
Fire safety measures....
Nightshade. The feng shui produced by the plant placement would be improved by adding a moderate health risk in plain sight that most people won’t even recognize. “Hey be careful bro. Your beer bumping all into those leaves. Cmon man!”
Reckon you need more plants
Some space…. the volume kind not the celestial kind.
Add better seating. Maybe a bed skirt IF you keep the sound dampening squares, cover them up with something. You don't want cheap to LOOK cheap. And, last but not least. What personality does this exude...deranged?
One that doesn’t treat not owning things as “minimalism”
You need toe add a toe ring hippie girl, she’ll totally set the vibe dude.
You need to do one of those nets I always see wooks knotting up in short format videos. 10/10 would blaze one there.
Houseplant
Your Inchplant is goals 🫡
Inchplant?
Trailing purple vine in photo 4
