I agree. I’d almost swap the deer to the small wall, hang it around eye level or a little higher and centered. Definitely put the cougar higher and centered on the wall.
Lol at everyone telling you that you don't know how big your TV is.
I zoomed in on my phone, measured the PS5, on my phone screen it was 0.75 inches tall. The tv screen was 3.5 inches diagonal. In real life, a PS5 is 15.5 inches tall
(3.5/.75)*15.5 ≈ 72 inches
Yea, that's a 75 inch screen people, it's just a massive empty room so it looks tiny
Yeah idk what he’d have to gain by lying about it lmao. People are strange. My TV is a 70 and similar PS5 position and doesn’t look that off to me. It’s just a huge empty wall behind it.
But to address your main question OP, have you thought about mounting your TV and then putting a sweet ass sound system on either side? The room also wouldn’t hurt from some colour/plants/life. And like a lot of people are saying, the deer and cat look off. It could just be the angle.
It's not a matter of lying. It's a matter of people just being obnoxiously stupid. Obviously op wasn't, but some people just say stuff just to say it, even though they have zero idea of the validity of their statement.
To improve this room you need to first completely change the layout as you have three focal points adjacent to each other and that is not right. Now I can't see the other side of the room, so I suggest you should use diagonal layout and arrange everything rightly. Once you change the layout, the wall could then be used for various things. Use this [couch decor guide](https://simplykalaa.com/couch-decor/) to learn the essentials and bring this space together.
Place two tall potted trees on each side of the TV. Oak, fiddle leaf fig, or a Japanese maple. Up lighting from the floor, and maybe add a rutic or outdoor themed vinyl art that is slightly dark than the wall paint. Get real trees.
No, neither will an oak or fiddleleaf. Trees are extremely difficult to keep happy inside. I'm going to venture a guess that 99.9% of fiddleleafs sold die within the first year.
If you want a good looking, easy to keep, larger houseplant you want a Monstera Deliciosa. They will grow fine in that room with that light, are basically impossible to kill via neglect, and they are resistant to the common houseplant pests.
Amazing place.
Swap the animals (the cougar would look awesome when it sits higher) and put a big picture on the wall. Something like a sea in a forest surrounded by mountains. Also a rug before the couch, fitting curtains and some plants (especially something big).
I think i would paint the stairs and the wall behind the stairs a different color from the rest of the room in order to optically seperate the space. I would then tie the living area together with a big rug and wall-mount the tv or hang a nice big art piece above it. Or maybe a shelf with picture frames/gallery wall type thing.
Maybe consider an accent wall above the fireplace. Some kind of botanical or naturalistic print wallpaper to really emphasize the taxidermy and painting the walls with a saturated earth tone. I feel like the trim not contrasting much from the wall makes the space feel smaller and hides the interesting shape of the room and stairway.
edit: wording
I’d recommend moving that lion mount. The lit pilot light produces a lot of dry heat over time and will damage the mount.
Similarly it not recommended to put flat screen TV’s above gas fireplaces as they can over heat.
I don’t think the animals are the problem. I think it’s the gaping expanse between them. I’d fill that space with some various pictures, paintings and the like. Create some more texture to that wall. If you really don’t like the tv, scrap it and the entertainment cabinet. Replace with some chairs and a rug. Then as mounts build In the future, you can arrange the wall for some space
Two thoughts 1.) dense forest wallpaper 2.) lion goes on the left of the deer so it looks like it's stalking it
Bonus: You may need one of those Cabela's camo loveseats also
Why, dear God, do you NOT have the cougar stalking the deer?! Cougar upper left, deer lower right? The laws of nature don’t work your way. It upsets my harmonic balance.
Paint a diorama for a whole stalking scene.
Ok hear me out. “Live” wall. Swap the deer and the cat, make a scene where the cat is doing normal cat predator shit from elevation and the deer is oblivious. Lots of options to work some plant life into this little scene
Not the wall but maybe two brackets to hang up a musket or wooden rifle across the mantle to compliment your taxidermied friend.
I have a 1917 SMLE on mine and it brings a nice feel.
You need a large area rug on the floor, that will keep the eyes down, instead of going straight to the blank spot on your wall. A large hanging mural will work there. I would make an appointment for an hour with an interior decorator and get a consultation. It’s not expensive and they can give you some ideas.
Paint the fireplace wall a slightly different color than the other walls to create an accent wall. You can also consider using a muted pattern/design of wallpaper with a slightly different shade from the surrounding walls
My man it looks like you closed your eyes, spun around 20 times, threw two darts and then just stuck those dead fuzzbros where they landed.
I would look at a bunch of country living type magazines for inspiration. Step one would be some nice rugs and at least centering that cat above the fireplace.
So seriously, there are some really nice artsy mirrors or maybe a big wall clock. Have you seen the ones that u stick the hands and numbers right to the wall? Amazon has mirrors in shape of trees and branches. Goes with your woodsy theme. Maybe an antique gun?? Another thing u could do is place a shelf above the tv with some candles and family photos, maybe a vase with dried grasses and dried bunny tails (weed bunny tails)!!!
Since you're already decorating with dead animals I don't think it's too farfetched to lean into the wilderness vibe. A beautiful still life or landscape related to hunting would be nice. Like a painting of the location of your first ever kill or scenery of your favorite places to be.
Also I think the deer could sit above the cougar off center to the right with the cougar off center to the left. One pointed up and one pointed down.
If you’re open to painting I’d paint it a darker color to not make it so blank looking and brings attention to that spot.
Nice space and window lighting!
Without reading comments and just going in fresh minded I’d get a bigger tv and hang it on the wall above the current tv unit then I’d buy a larger white tv unit underneath the new tv and have it floating thus eradicating the need to do anything with the wall 😂
Get a nice big rug as well to make it feel more filled in
If possible, you can decorate the wall. Not just pictures, but paint the wall. Or, you can buy a film projector and blackout shades so that it will be a home theater.
Commission an artist to paint a large picture of yourself in the style of a 1500's European king. Crown and all.
That would make a good conversation piece.
r/mcmansionhell
You have a lot of work to do. Id remove the animals and consider putting some big plants or a massive bookshelf on that tall wall with space for TV. Also a rug and an armchair. More plants near the window and some nice drapes, not blinds.
I do have to admire your TV height. Keep it that way.
Thank you, Center of the TV has to eye level when sitting.
I actually have tons of plants but we moved them to other areas, behind where I'm taking the photo from is loaded with plants.
The mounts stay. As for a book shelf we planned on that but I'm more concerned about the space above that, id love to ignore it but I can't.
Pick a couple of colors to build around, install curtains, art that you find interesting (try to be original but if your favorite artist is popular so be it..also be sure to frame it), no large clocks, put some plants in there, no ‘word’ pictures (i feel like i have to say that), really think about if the taxidermy could go in another room…
This space needs 0, 1, or like 12 dead animals. No in between
I would say 0 or 12.
If it was only the one above the fireplace, I’d allow it, since that is pretty unique looking
How about a bear lying in front of the fireplace?
That’s just Uncle Joe
I was gonna say, you pull off lodge vibes with one good mount. After that, you're on the scale of hunting lodge to bass pro shops.
I was thinking a singing sea bass above the tv
A gigantic one.
You heard them OP. Gonna have a busy fall
[https://youtu.be/nOVmH5H60Vs?si=7sPm0Qkm172hKDL4](https://youtu.be/nOVmH5H60Vs?si=7sPm0Qkm172hKDL4)
The placement of the dead animals are off to me. The cougar needs to be centered and r/deertoohigh
r/subsifellfor
The way I really wanted to peruse a sub dedicated to people discussing where to place their deer heads.
if you build it, they will come
I agree. I’d almost swap the deer to the small wall, hang it around eye level or a little higher and centered. Definitely put the cougar higher and centered on the wall.
Ha!
OP must live in my region, according to the ads there are a lot of hot cougars in my region
Got my ass
Yeah my ocd is killing me staring at that, each to their own I suppose
>The cougar needs to be centered but right now, he has a place to step down off his log.
This made me laugh so hard
120-inch projector screen
This is probably a better answer than a bigger tv
110” TV
The mountain lion 🦁 would freak me the f out in the middle of the night while I’m having milk and cookies 🍪 😂
https://www.reddit.com/r/dogsonroofs/s/VVjCRuMVVe
Omg man that shit crazy 😝
Moose head mount. Get after it.
Exactly what I was thinkin
more animals
I wish it was that easy...
IDK if others would agree, but imo that TV is too small for that wall. Id get a bigger TV.
I don't even watch it, honestly I'd rather remove it and have a large sitting room.
Real shit bro. I support it.
I mean…fine, I’ll take it off your hands **sigh**
Then do so, it's your space! I love having no TV in a space. Consider some aesthetic sound dampers cuz that room is gonna be echoey.
Perfect candidate for an ultra short throw projector places on top of the console.
Wasted space where a sick projector would really tie the room together.
Antlers are much more cost effective and easier to come across. I suggest a large collection of various antlers.
Do you mean there isn't a wall animal store?
Much bigger tv
It's a 75
Lol at everyone telling you that you don't know how big your TV is. I zoomed in on my phone, measured the PS5, on my phone screen it was 0.75 inches tall. The tv screen was 3.5 inches diagonal. Thank you, I was trying to figure out a way to prove it but you did the math
No problem, but only reason I did the math is because I didn't believe it either at first haha. Looks small from this perspective
r/theydidthemonstermath

Witchcraft
Unless you have massive doors, that isn't 75, 55 is more likely
Agreed. A Ps5 doesn’t look that big next to a 75
75 what?
cm apparently
Is that how many feet away you are?
That’s a 55” if I’ve ever seen one. My 77” is much bigger than that.

The picture of naked Burt Reynolds.
My main thought is never take any sort of psychedelic in your home because that fucking LION emerging from the wall will be your worst nightmare.
A nice big western landscape painting above the TV. Mark Maggiori does some amazing work and has sales often.
As an engraver and printmaker, I love seeing art on the walls
What about a tree mural? Or some trinket shelves with fake fines around them? Bring some flora in to match the fauna.
boar
A picture of me
A blunderbass to complement the taxidermy
Unironically antique weapons go hard as decorative pieces
Don’t know about the big space but the animals on the wall look stupid as shit, FYI
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it if he’s going for a rustic look. They are just poorly placed.
Jesus dude haha
Hard agree
Could nail up a couple squirrels and some misc roadkill I guess
Color
U need a full length Shaq O'Neal right there
This is a lovely room of death.
My man. I love the taxidermy, I am an avid collector and got SHREDDED for it a few months ago haha
If you ever wanna sell that mountain lion holler
Thanks, but I could never sell it for what I have into it
What a lovely room of death! Take care now bye bye then!
Place two tall potted trees on each side of the TV. Oak, fiddle leaf fig, or a Japanese maple. Up lighting from the floor, and maybe add a rutic or outdoor themed vinyl art that is slightly dark than the wall paint. Get real trees.

As long as it gets proper sunlight and care.
We have a projector instead of a tv, you have the best projector wall. You might need blind stores or something maybe
Amazing place. Swap the animals (the cougar would look awesome when it sits higher) and put a big picture on the wall. Something like a sea in a forest surrounded by mountains. Also a rug before the couch, fitting curtains and some plants (especially something big).
A nice big rustic cottage core painting.

Mural.
That cougar should be higher

These two mounts should be facing each other in battle!
Elephant head like Jack White smack dab in the center.
A dark wooden shelf with plants that hang down from it, and a couple of nice candles.
fat heads
Two thoughts 1.) dense forest wallpaper 2.) lion goes on the left of the deer so it looks like it's stalking it Bonus: You may need one of those Cabela's camo loveseats also
I would put a bank of cabinet, credenza type furniture to fill in the wall across then hang a bigger TV.
Why, dear God, do you NOT have the cougar stalking the deer?! Cougar upper left, deer lower right? The laws of nature don’t work your way. It upsets my harmonic balance. Paint a diorama for a whole stalking scene.

Bass Pro fish tank wall
Pumas are endangered, bro.
False, they are considered a varmint where I am
[удалено]
Then wait for Indiana Jones and his father to show up
Remove dead animals
I vote for no dead animals on the wall.
A giant 10x20ft golden framed oil canvas painting of you with a crown on
I would mount the tv on the wall, and then maybe have the animals above it, but maybe add another one for the balance.
Why is the cougar not strategically placed so it appears it’s hunting the deer?
LEGO set 75192 Ultimate Collectors Series Millenium Falcon on a vertical stand, placed on a shelf or hanging from the ceiling. Go be a winner
Errr….
Put eight 65" tv's there. Put a camera on the other side of the wall. Feed that picture to the tv's and have an Awsome large video window. Lol
I like your cat perch. Give him some pets for me.
Sup w the mountain lion? Was that something you hunted?
I would recommend no dead animals as a start
Reload
Bear skin rug or Bass Pro Shop fish tank
Bigger tv. Much bigger
Bigger TV
The biggest TV u can find would look great
I was going to say mountain lion, but it looks like you’re covered.
Mirrors.
if your artistic then get some paint and sweep a little landscape around those walls. obviously do a mockup first.
Center that animal over the fireplace better and get a way bigger tv on the wall that the tv is on now just don’t r/tvtoohigh
Not the wall but maybe two brackets to hang up a musket or wooden rifle across the mantle to compliment your taxidermied friend. I have a 1917 SMLE on mine and it brings a nice feel.

Second bigger tv above the first then a third even bigger tv above that one
An artwork of a jungle so the animals look like they came from it?
Paint the fireplace wall a slightly different color than the other walls to create an accent wall. You can also consider using a muted pattern/design of wallpaper with a slightly different shade from the surrounding walls
A bigger TV
A bigger TV to start.
T-Rex skeleton between Bambi’s dad and Mr Whiskers, for sure.
Bigger tv maybe ?🤔
My man it looks like you closed your eyes, spun around 20 times, threw two darts and then just stuck those dead fuzzbros where they landed. I would look at a bunch of country living type magazines for inspiration. Step one would be some nice rugs and at least centering that cat above the fireplace.

Big black circle to bust on

I think mounting the TV is a decent first step.
Easy. 4ft by 8ft artwork. Red preferably. Three gold framed pictured to the right of it.
Vertical*
First try some paint- then maybe be creative with shelving
A tapestry!
Without reading comments and just going in fresh minded I’d get a bigger tv and hang it on the wall above the current tv unit then I’d buy a larger white tv unit underneath the new tv and have it floating thus eradicating the need to do anything with the wall 😂 Get a nice big rug as well to make it feel more filled in
Needs a cat, a plant in the corner near the TV, some paintings and artworks hung on the wall
If possible, you can decorate the wall. Not just pictures, but paint the wall. Or, you can buy a film projector and blackout shades so that it will be a home theater.
Look at the japanese print or picture of The Great Wave, I bought one from a company and had them in large it to 5ft x 5ft. If you like japanses art
Bigger TV
Many beautifully framed pictures arranged to suit. Goes with the lodge style.
What is that wire from the guitar?
There is an outlet behind the guitar and that is a wire for a wireless charging pad. Just there while we work on the front entrance
Art.
You ought get a billy bass, and if it were me I'd switch the placement of the cougar/mountain lion and the deer head
Projector.
Need a ladder so you can get to that space above the TV
Big ass TV
r/tvtoofar
Home theater system, some rugs
Need an old gun like a musket and a sword.
Repost
I don't know if you like to draw or not. A work of art
A huge forest mural making it look like the dead animals come out of it.
A big painting of nature
That big of a room needs a much much bigger tv 70 inch +
Do people just not believe in art? Art makes the world beautiful, and will make your space look good and be a part of yourself.
Commission an artist to paint a large picture of yourself in the style of a 1500's European king. Crown and all. That would make a good conversation piece.
I’ll be honest I love the wood flooring and animals you have on the walls, looks how I’d do it myself
More dead stuff. Or a blood pentagram with a "Live, Laugh, Love" plaque in the middle of it
Less critters.
Maybe a painting to brighten up the room? Or maybe a warm color lamp?
r/mcmansionhell You have a lot of work to do. Id remove the animals and consider putting some big plants or a massive bookshelf on that tall wall with space for TV. Also a rug and an armchair. Center the cougar, looks off
You could also do a massive art piece ora panel to make it more filled out
Center the cougar, looks off
What did you use to hunt the mountain lion? Looks awesome.
Bow
Needs zero animals
What a lovely room of death
Why people like to hang dead animals on their walls will baffle me till the end of time. But bigger tv my guy.
Bigger TV and less animals
Get rid of the taxidermy
First I would find a cool, unexpected dramatic color and paint it as an accent wall.
Just piss on it.
A big ass panther
Giant taxidermy swordfish
It needs a bison, elk, or moose or all three.
Needs and antelope and a black bear skin 👍🏽
A bear head
