Iām hoping to get to Platinum so I can start trying out other brands and keep the perks. Iāve had mostly good experiences with Marriott barring some shady Fairfields during covid time and obviously the worst Marriott ever, the Glasgow oneā¦
Ah I have lifetime plat and lifetime diamond with hilton. On my two most recent international trips stayed at other brands - was eye opening. At a shangri la resort booked a mini suite that turned out unavailable and was upgraded to full pool side suite - no status beyond signing up at time of booking.
Very underwhelming. Like it was mentioned, use the occasion for elite status with another hotel. I have been platinum lifetime since 2 years ago and working my way with Hilton now.
Nothing exciting happens when you turn platinum lifetime except 50% bonus points for life. Too bad there isnāt Titanium for life.
There just arent many hyatts - I suppose depends on where you travel, but hilton has massive US footprint. Most of us gained lifetime through endless work travel - so many hamptons in so many random cities.
agreed. I have 2K+ nights for bonvoy/hilton, but a depressing % is hamptons. Sure I've stayed at some fantastic higher end properties around the world, but still so many hamptons, dated doubletrees, HGI's, etc.
To be a Lifetime Diamond Member, you must earn Hilton Diamond status for 10 (non-consecutive) years and complete 1 additional milestone:
Complete stays totaling 1,000 paid and reward nights
Earn 2 million base Points
Yes! And they sent me Bose earbuds when I hit it. Which was a nice surprise. I also have lifetime Marriott. Too many hotel stays in my 20+ year career. lol

Not having lifetime titanium is an incredibly dumb business decision. Iām satisfied with 95% of my stays but since Iāve leveled to LTP, Iām forced to look around now. Only reason I still choose Marriott this year Iām titanium from last year,so the added points bonus is nice. But next year when I drop down to just LTP, Iām a free agent.
Actually there is titanium for life, but I believe you had to inherit it from the merger with SPG (edit: I stand corrected you could have gotten it from either side). One of my former coworkers has it

Everyone sitting in FC on an airplane looks smug but internally they realize theyāve lived their lives in many shitty airports and squeezed into crappy seats in many tin cans just to finally get FC-worthy status.
[ ] Jealous [ x ] Not Jealous
I calculated that I spent 1 month a year going to the airport, at the airport or on planes. That was too much for me, so I cut The Hobby (frequent flying for points and Elite status, not on work travel).
(Knocks wood) Iāve never been denied late checkout. Iām so curious where everyone on this sub is staying that youāre so regularly being denied. Iām like 50 nights short of lifetime platinum and never been denied late checkout.
My stays are mostly work related. I have a general rule that new is better. My favorite is the Bankside Autograph in London. RC in Bangalore is amazing.
Not OP and 2 yrs from Lifetime Platinum but have the nights.
Really like the autographs. Hotel Emery Minneapolis, Watermark in Baton Rouge, and the best oddly enough The Warrior Sioux City IA.
Was pretty disappointed though in The Sessions in Bristol TN/VA.
Congrats - as others said, welcome to additional mediocrity, now with luggage tag. Also they donāt just send the tag, you have to go to a link and fill out a form to get the tag sent.
How funny! I am one night and one year behind you.

Was there a date you switched from 10 years to 11 years? For some reason Iām stuck on 7 years. I took a screen shot on March 2023 and was at 7 and itās July 2024 and still at 7.
Iāll be LTP after todayās checkin and the biggest perk for me is never having to think about nights again as Iām more inclined to go with the third option: less travel (rather than Hilton where I have gold through FoundersCard or Hyatt or ???).
Lifetime platinum hereā¦ I think it all ends up being fairly useless these days. The number of tangibly helpful benefits are few and in the US they are often unavailable.
Iām lifetime platinum, and the best perks are the late checkout, and, supposedly, the free breakfast. But these days so many of the properties have work arounds that let them off the hook for breakfast. Itās pretty lame.

Iām waiting for them to bring back lifetime Titanium!!!
Iām at Lifetime Titanium (hit LT Plat before SPG merger and updates to status levels). Sadly itās just worth it for the bonus points on stays. Iām primarily Hyatt now, but still use Marriott when those arenāt available. Give some other brands a try now that you donāt have to worry about qualifying nights.
Lifetime Platinum here. Prepare to be whelmed.
Luggage tags tho

As exciting as reheating that costco pizza from 5 days ago.
Costco slander will NOT be tolerated
š
If you toast it on the pan, even 5 days doesn't matter
Put it in the air fryer šš¤āØ
This is the way.
Well played. Made me smile
I donāt know how to say this. Prepare to be disappointed, and Iām sorry. Enjoy all the points though.
Iām hoping to get to Platinum so I can start trying out other brands and keep the perks. Iāve had mostly good experiences with Marriott barring some shady Fairfields during covid time and obviously the worst Marriott ever, the Glasgow oneā¦

Marriott Glasgow is currently being renovated!
Thatās good news.
Thatās me too, Iām 30 nights away and I want to experience other brands and not have to worry about always staying in a Marriott
Iām 15 nights away from 600 but 3 years shy of Lifetime Platinum. Enjoy the lifetime status!
Very underwhelming. Like it was mentioned, use the occasion for elite status with another hotel. I have been platinum lifetime since 2 years ago and working my way with Hilton now. Why Hilton? Iām debating on Hilton vs Hyatt.
There just arent many hyatts - I suppose depends on where you travel, but hilton has massive US footprint. Most of us gained lifetime through endless work travel - so many hamptons in so many random cities.
I gained diamond by staying exclusively at Hampton Inns for work travel. If I never see a self service waffle maker again it will be too soon.
agreed. I have 2K+ nights for bonvoy/hilton, but a depressing % is hamptons. Sure I've stayed at some fantastic higher end properties around the world, but still so many hamptons, dated doubletrees, HGI's, etc.
Is there lifetime Hilton?
To be a Lifetime Diamond Member, you must earn Hilton Diamond status for 10 (non-consecutive) years and complete 1 additional milestone: Complete stays totaling 1,000 paid and reward nights Earn 2 million base Points
Seems harder to reach Diamond at Hilton. 1000 nights!!!
Yeah, but not for those of us who travel a ton for work. I'm at 1811 nights with Marriott. That includes bonus Elite Nights through promos and stuff.
Yes! And they sent me Bose earbuds when I hit it. Which was a nice surprise. I also have lifetime Marriott. Too many hotel stays in my 20+ year career. lol https://preview.redd.it/n4jsfmfnuead1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cda49ebe4201f2498c43838799a7e343532f03e9
There is titanium for life but I think it was a grandfathered status after the Starwood merger.

All in now! Youāll never have to stress about qualifying again! Congratulations!
Thatās the hope.
1,000+ nights checking in here. Not proud of it.
I feel you. Iām at 2000+, also not proud.
Yeah. At some point you start to rethink your lifeā¦

Iām at 1100+ and in my 30s but no longer travel for work so Iām not accruing more nights particularly quickly now
Hah, I'm almost at lifetime gold, that'll be my "green light" to try out other brands
Why? Gold is shit
The āperksā of gold over silver are better than going from gold to platinum. Only real bonus for platinum is the points bonus.
Idk, 4pm check out is much better than 2pm check out for hotels with pools?
Only if you can get it. Iāve been denied 4pm more times than I can count.
(Knocks wood) Iāve never been denied late checkout. Iām so curious where everyone on this sub is staying that youāre so regularly being denied. Iām like 50 nights short of lifetime platinum and never been denied late checkout.
Executive lounge access at platinum š
Top 3 marriotts youāve ever stayed ? Sure you know the good ones lol
My stays are mostly work related. I have a general rule that new is better. My favorite is the Bankside Autograph in London. RC in Bangalore is amazing.
How does Bankside compare to St Ermins?
Can't comment on bankside...but ermins was stellar.
Havenāt stayed at the St Ermins. Iāll try it.
Nice! Wait until you hit the mark! It's great! You get a bag tag and a... Yep just a bag tag.
Congrats - as others said, welcome to additional mediocrity, now with luggage tag. Also they donāt just send the tag, you have to go to a link and fill out a form to get the tag sent.

Yeah, this is the year for us. Weāll be free.
Congratulations
I have the opposite problem, too many nights, not enough years
Was there a date you switched from 10 years to 11 years? For some reason Iām stuck on 7 years. I took a screen shot on March 2023 and was at 7 and itās July 2024 and still at 7.

Lifetime platinum hereā¦ I think it all ends up being fairly useless these days. The number of tangibly helpful benefits are few and in the US they are often unavailable.
I was more excited about the dice and cards for ambassador elite than I was for the luggage tags
Nothing changes. Ever.
Beautiful approach to life.
What do you do for work that allows you to travel so much?
Mattresss run inc?
Why not just get the Amex Marriott credit card and start with platinum?
Iām lifetime platinum, and the best perks are the late checkout, and, supposedly, the free breakfast. But these days so many of the properties have work arounds that let them off the hook for breakfast. Itās pretty lame.
I got Bose ear buds for Hilton diamond lifetime. I got luggage tags for Marriott. Lol
Thatās crazy I did that many nights in half the time you did š© https://preview.redd.it/okcxpiha5fad1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d1fa6f4dc55f237163445704ac1d5a9635ed027
I was over the 600 night mark like 5 years in. Been just waiting for the 10 years since. I made it at the beginning of this year.
I've got it, too. Had it a few years now (plus Hilton diamond via credit card). Switched over to Hyatt this year and it's been a good move so far.

Lifetime Titanium here. Didnāt get a gift. Nobody cares. No perks.
What're you guys doing for work where you stay in so many hotels?
Not uncommon to see consulting folks, tech sales etc and others with much moreā¦
I seriously need to start consulting lol
Nice! And very envious. Iāve got the opposite problem. 732 nights & 9 years Platinum. Hopefully solve that this year, but could be close.
Fancy pants!! š
Lifetime titanium here. Itās underwhelming, unless you like the congrats comment at check-in.
Have been platinum most of the last decade and they barely acknowledge it anymore. Not even a thanks hereās some warm water.
