Yep. Tony Stark was a bit more straight serious rich man in the comics until RDJ came along. He wasn't exactly "brooding" like Batman but far from a sarcastic jokester

tony-stark-bot

How'd you solve the icing problem?

MangoMan0303

Ryan Reynolds, he is deadpool

arataemb

If you meet him wearing costume, hit him ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)

The infection's run its course thanks to the blue meanie back there. Oh, you would love her. Very practical. Only a tiny bit sadistic.

Penance27

Mhm, RDJ defo has an Ironman suit.

xariznightmare2908

Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner is like the least accurate take compared to Edward Norton and Eric Bana, imo.

Hawke1010

Hulk got shafted in the MCU; Alexis Texas style

RyudoTFO

Imho at some point RDJ overwrote his personality with that of Tony Stark and stayed that way.

tony-stark-bot

Listen to me, that little witch is messing with your mind. You're stronger than her, you're smarter than her. You're Bruce Banner!

DagNabitDawg

You're saying they've merged? I tend to agree. We didn't have the Tony/Howard angst in the comics until the MCU writers brought that in. IronDude also was a huge fan of Cap in the early years. It was the Aveng'rs that found Cap in the water back in the first series issue 4. We're talking 1964, about 15 years after WW2 was wrapping up and while there were other supes comics around the average person wasn't talking about science or mental health AT ALL. Bear in mind that JFK's assassination was fresh in our hearts. 1950s Sci-Fi wasn't much beyond creatures, and most 1960s Sci-Fi centered on cultural themes. Tony's alcoholism was written into Marvel in 1979 over about 8 months and that was a huge topic at the time although it was years after Snowbirds Don't Fly (1971) the Green Lantern/Green Arrow 2 part story wherein its discovered that Speedy (still a teen) has developed a heroin addiction. He goes cold turkey and beats his addiction with Black Canary's help inside of one issue. "Adults" didn't have problems in those days. You grew up and took control of your life. Naturally, that wasn't how things really worked but socially sensitive themes remained hidden. Culturally, we didn't talk about anything sensitive in a public forum until the late 90s...and even that is pushing it. The internet changed everything. All that said RDJ makes...made a terrific Tony, and if he brought some light to the father/child dynamic that was certainly already there, albeit hidden...then all the better.

Malabingo

Yeah, some actors are acting and some actors are just being there and named differently.

Netheraptr

It’s funny cause from what I’ve heard and seen from interviews RDJ is a very different person from Tony Stark and similar characters he tends to play. He comes off more like a wholesome dad, but he just happens to be very good at playing smug geniuses

tony-stark-bot

I know I said no more surprises, but I gotta say, I was really hoping to pull off one last one. But it looks like... well, you know what it looks like.

PatriciaNichole

That's the reality of it.

No_Platypus9030

Tony Stark is RDJ, It’s the opposite with Ryan Reynolds being Deadpool

tony-stark-bot

I just knocked the 'A' out of their 'AV'. We got about 30 seconds before they realize it's not their equipment.

Artistic_Finish7980

Definitely. Tony Stark in the comics was much more serious before the MCU happened. He wasn’t dark and brooding like Batman, but he didn’t crack nearly as many jokes as he does now.

tony-stark-bot

What's the point of owning a race car if you can't drive it?

RogueCross

Jamie Foxx Electro in No Way Home.
